The Second Horseman Has Started His Ride This is a scary topic for most and one that many would rather ignore; however, it shouldn’t be as our Father, through Jesus Christ, has told us of the end-time sequence so that we can watch for it and not be afraid as we see the end-times unfolding. There are also those that don’t want to believe that we will see the horsemen of Revelation 6 because they fall back on the position that we will not see God’s wrath and they believe that the Four Horsemen represent God’s wrath.
While it is true that we will not see God’s wrath and will be raptured before then, we are nowhere near that point in time and the four horsemen precede His wrath. Please look around in earnest … Is God pouring out His wrath today destroying the world? It’s clear that He is not, and yet, the Horsemen of Rev 6:2-8 are here and the Second one has just started. The events of Revelation have clearly started, and we were told by our Lord to read, hear, and take to heart what is written. [The starting of the sequence was covered in “Have the Revelation Events Started?”]
The First Horseman’s Ride is Nearly Complete
Rev 6:2 describes the first horseman. He represents the spirit of the antichrist who pretends to be good and conquers without firing a single shot (he has no arrows). Who does he conquer? Jesus answers that question when He tells his disciples the starting sequence leading to His return. Jesus tells them that they (1) should not be deceived; and (2) There will be wars and rumors of wars (meaning the rapture has not occurred yet. Matt 24:3-7; Luke 21:7-10). Christ describes the first horseman as conquering through deception and He warns us that we should not be deceived; therefore, it is Christians that the first horseman conquers, and he conquers them through deception.
It’s a horrible thing to contemplate that Christ says the Christian Church will be conquered and yet that is exactly what we see has already happened. Christ has nothing good to say about this church today and in fact, says that He will spew it out of His mouth. [Covered in the newsletter “We Are the Laodicean Church!”]. Christians have not heeded Christ’s warning and most Christians today have nothing to do with following Christ. Entire massive denominations (the largest having over a billion members) follow mans’ rules and teach their congregations to ignore Biblical teachings and even God’s commandments.
Polls of people who say that they are “Born Again” Evangelical Christians reveal that the vast majority (over 95%) DO NOT follow Christ or the Bible based on their own admission. They have all been deceived in following the world and their own desires and simultaneously believing that somehow they will be permitted into heaven (He will spew them out of His mouth; Rev 3:16). [Covered in the newsletter “What Does it Mean to be Deceived?”].
How could this possibly happen? It happened because Satan has been at work for nearly two thousand years since Jesus came the first time, fragmenting His Word, and creating hundreds of conflicting “Bibles” and manipulating false doctrines to such an extreme that Jesus tells us that this final “church” of today is so bad that demons make it their home (Matt 13:31-32). God tells us that we are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). We have in fact done it to ourselves because we do not study God’s Word and blindly follow whatever our pastor tells us. [Covered in the newsletter “Destroyed for Lack of Knowledge”].
The Second Horseman’s Ride Has Started
Jesus Himself confirmed in Matt 24:6 and Luke 21:9 that the second horseman of the apocalypse starts with “rumors of wars, and wars”. He also makes it clear that we are not to be afraid as this is not yet the end. The phrase “rumors of war” is interesting because it is abnormal throughout history. No empire, government, or military power tells the country they are about to attack that they are thinking about attacking and start a rumor to that effect. They would lose the element of surprise, but this is exactly what Russia just did before invading Ukraine. This is not only unprecedented, but it comes after the First Horseman where the vast majority of “Christian” denominations no longer follow the Lord and clearly represents the start of the second horseman.
This is only the beginning of the second horseman's run! We know this because the scriptures tell us that there will be many rumors of war (plural) and also many wars (also plural). In fact, there will be so many the Lord tells us not to be afraid. Apparently, these rumors, followed by wars, will escalate to such an extent that everyone around the world would be afraid. We are not there yet as this is only the very first rumor followed by war but I implore you to study the scriptures to know what is going to happen next so that you won’t be afraid.
Why Does the Lord Tell us Not to Be Afraid?
If the Lord tells us not to be afraid, then these events unfolding will make us naturally very afraid! If we believe in our God and Father, then we must trust Him completely and that is why we should not be afraid. These events could escalate to the point where World War III would be on people’s minds which would most likely utilize nuclear weapons. What do the scriptures say about how far this will go?
The Scriptures tell us exactly what is going to happen, and, in the sequence, it is going to happen. We are told that the wars will be followed by ensuing inflation, famine, and widespread disease. We are told that about TWO BILLION people will die (Rev 6:8). This is a horrifying thought that one in four people on earth will die because of this sequence and yet the Lord tells us not to be afraid - and yet, the Wrath of God has not even started. These wars are man's doing and not God's.
Those that live in the United States feel safe and secure mostly feeling as if they can watch the rest of the world engage in these wars and that they will not be directly affected by them. I do not believe this will be the case as these wars escalate. There is no place on Earth that is safe if a country has sufficiently advanced technology and military might (such as Russia or China) should they decide to attack.
Now that the Second Horseman has started his ride, it is time that sleeping Christians wake up and realize what is happening and that they must study and prepare for our Lord’s return. We are given specific instructions to put on the Whole Armor of God so that we may be able to stand in the upcoming times we find ourselves in. [Covered in the newsletter “What is the Whole Armor of God?”].
God Requires us to Study His Word!
The principle we are to follow is for us to "Prove all things by the Word of God” (1 Thess 5:21). That includes all ministers, teaching, preaching, doctrines, sermons, writings, opinions, and practices. Examine all by the light of the Bible. Any teaching that is not 100% supported by the Scriptures you are to reject wholly. Studying is not optional for Christians but required of God. In fact, we are commanded by God to “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Tim 2:15).
The problem is that there is no such thing as a perfect English translation that tells us exactly what God’s word is. There is always a discrepancy between the original Greek (NT in this case) to English and mankind has created more than 450 different English translations which have thousands of differences between themselves. So which version should you be studying if they are all saying different things? The best you can hope for is to find a translation that mirrors as closely as possible the original meanings of the scriptures.
How much easier would it be to study God’s Word if an English New Testament translation existed which took each of the original Koine Greek words and applied the original meaning along with the original parsing assigned to each of those words? This is something that even the King James scholars did not do because of the constraints placed on them by King James, their lack of knowledge of Greek, and their time constraints. The Pure Word is a New Testament reference that does just that! It is the perfect resource that every Christian should have to dive into God’s Word and use along with your preferred version of the Scriptures.
