Dear Friend,
Have you seen this??
Veteran Michael Cassidy was charged with a hate crime for damaging a holiday satanic display in the Iowa Capitol. He admitted to decapitating a statue of Satan in December and is now facing a class D felony with a potential fine of $7,500 and a prison sentence of up to five years.
Five years for defending the faith that is the bedrock of this nation?
From every angle, this is unjust persecution because our government should recognize Satanism for what it actually is: a demonic cult, NOT a religion.
As a faithful Catholic, I find the double standard appalling:
Vandalize a statue of Our Blessed Mother? The media and legal system turn a blind eye.
But decapitate Satan?... Hate crime! Go straight to jail!
The hypocrisy is maddening.
Michael should be celebrated as a defender of Christian faith.
It reminds me of a similar story with a much different outcome…. when a man took a hammer to a statue of Our Lady of Fatima at the National Basilica in Washington, D.C., irrevocably damaging her face, her hands, and the cross on her crown.
Do you know what happened to him?
Absolutely nothing. No charges were filed.
My question is: How many crimes of vandalism and destruction against Catholic churches or property, such as statues of Our Lord and Our Lady, have been charged as hate crimes?
What about Jane’s Revenge, for example? Has anyone from this extremist, ultra-violent abortion rights group been prosecuted at all?
According to the latest numbers from CatholicVote’s Violence Tracker, over 350 attacks on U.S. Catholic Churches have taken place since May 2020 - and nearly all of them have gone without convicted justice, much less a hate crime charge. In fact, CatholicVote has found evidence of an arrest in connection with an attack against a church in only about 25% of cases.
Local law enforcement could be more effective in tracking down these perpetrators if they had more support and resources from federal authorities, like the FBI, to conduct nationwide investigations…. but as we know, they’re too preoccupied with surveilling faithful Catholics instead.
Where is the outcry?
CatholicVote won’t let this stand.
That’s why we report on these issues that truly matter, even if the media ignores them. CatholicVote is here to tell our elected officials, the media, the justice system, and would-be vandals that these acts of violence against our Holy Mother Church will not be tolerated … and we do not accept their double standard.
If you are as frustrated about this as I am, help us fight these heinous attacks.
Will you chip in to expose the hypocrisy?
We need you, and so do heroes like Michael.
The time is now,
Brian
P.S. Michael Cassidy’s courage to fight against this obvious evil reminds me of a quote often attributed to G.K. Chesterton:
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.” Stand with us to defend what we love – our churches, our families, and our nation.
