Economy adds 151K jobs in August

The U.S. economy added just 151,000 jobs in the month of August, as the jobless rate held steady at 4.9 percent.
The disappointing report from the Labor Department comes in slightly below economist expectations of 180,000 jobs. And it comes one month after a surprisingly strong July report, which found the economy created U.S. 255,000 jobs.
With just two months left until the presidential election, the latest jobs report fleshes out a picture of the U.S. economy that suggests it is continuing to grow, but at a slow and somewhat steady pace.
There were few dramatic swings in Friday’s report — the labor force participation rate was effectively unchanged, and the prior two months’ jobs numbers were revised with the end result being just 1,000 fewer jobs were created than previously reported over that stretch.
Wages grew at a slower pace in August than July, and the average workweek for employees actually fell slightly.
Friday’s report did not dramatically alter the overall picture of the U.S. economy, but was nonetheless seized on by Republicans to argue voters should change course from President Obama’s policies.
“The Obama economy is failing to restore prosperity for millions of Americans still out of the labor force, but Hillary Clinton wants more of the same,” said Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus in a statement. “Donald Trump has been creating jobs his entire life, and he will revive growth and create good jobs for all Americans as president.”
The Trump campaign hit a similar tone in its own statement, blasting the “Clinton-Obama economy” for failing to produce better paying jobs.
Meanwhile, the White House pointed out that job growth has averaged 182,000 jobs per month in 2016, well above the 80,000 needed a month to keep the unemployment rate steady. It also noted that wage growth at 2.8 percent has outpaced inflation, but acknowledged “more work remains” to drive up paychecks and spread economic gains.
The lukewarm jobs report led to a raft of lukewarm reactions, as the number was not good enough to drive optimism, but not bad enough to lead to despair.
“August wasn’t awesome from a jobs creation standpoint. The situation was respectable as long as we avert our eyes from wages and weakness among certain sectors,” said Mark Hamrick, a senior economic analyst for Bankrate.com.

“The jobs report continues to amaze me: job growth is continuing, employment is rising, unemployment remains below 5%,” tweeted Betsey Stevenson, an economist at the University of Michigan and former Labor Department chief economist under Obama.
The slight disappointment in the August report has many market watchers anticipating that the Federal Reserve will hold off on another interest rate hike at its September meeting. But that could also mean the central bank is debating an interest rate increase — just its second in roughly a decade and first since December — at an October meeting in the shadow of Election Day.

Dear carl,
This Labor Day, over one million service men and women are stationed far from home. Their nonstop sacrifice for our country means they’ll miss the family barbecue on Monday. The trip to the beach with their kids is out, too.
But you can take away some of the sting of missing home by helping us raise $250,000 for critical updates to USO centers in the next 10 days.
Give by Sept. 12 to support this crucial operation in honor of Labor Day.
This campaign will ensure service members have access to expanded and modernized USO centers that meet their needs.
We must raise $250,000 by September 12, so we can stay on track to:
Make urgently needed upgrades to USO locations around the world
Build more than 18 new USO locations that will serve an additional 125,000 service members annually
Update center technology so service members can connect with family more easily
carl, our service members sacrifice so much, and they do it all for us. This Labor Day, please give them something in return by supporting this $250,000 effort.
Help make sure service members have the kind of USO centers they deserve.
Thank you. I know our heroes appreciate everything you do.

Sinner's Prayer - Recognizing the Need

Sinner's Prayer - Recognizing the Need
The "Sinner's Prayer" is a term that describes the words spoken by a person when he or she has recognized their sin and their need for a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It goes something like this:

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”
If you decided to repent of your sins and receive Christ today, welcome to God's family. Now, as a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.
  • Get baptized as commanded by Christ.
  • Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
  • Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
  • Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
  • Find a local church where you can worship God.

Hulk' Mark Ruffalo Makes Trans Community Angry "It’s wrenching to see you in this pain."

'Hulk' Mark Ruffalo Makes Trans Community Angry

"It’s wrenching to see you in this pain."

1814
Actor Mark "The Hulk" Ruffalo just made the trans community angry, and you don't want to make them angry. His crime: casting a "cisgendered" gay actor to play a transgender character in an upcoming film he produced.
Continuing his progressive crusade – Ruffalo arguably earns the label "flaming" as far as leftists go – The Avengers star produced a little passion project called Anything, in which a transgender sex worker strikes up an unlikely friendship with a suicidal widower on the streets of Philadelphia...I mean, Los Angeles. Basically, it's a buddy movie for the 21st century.
For the transgender character, Ruffalo cast actor Matt Bomer (White Collar) after previously working with him on the HBO aids drama The Normal Heart. Though Bomer is openly gay, the transgender community lashed out at Ruffalo for casting a "cisgendered" white male to play one of their own. Call it "trans-appropriation."
After enduring the hate mail, Ruffalo responded to the backlash on Twitter, saying he has heard their "pain" and will do better in the future.
"To the Trans community," Ruffalo wrote. "I hear you. It’s wrenching to see you in this pain. I am glad we are having this conversation. It’s time."
Ruffalo then went on to explain that he cast Bomer more for professional reasons, not ideological.
"In all honesty I suggested Matt for the role after the profound experience I had with him while making The Normal Heart," Ruffalo said.
To make up for it...Well, actually, Ruffalo can't make up for it. After one fellow suggested he recast the role, Ruffalo exclaimed: "The movie is already shot and Matt poured his heart and soul into this part. Please have a little compassion. We are all learning."
Yes, we certainly are all learning, Mr. Ruffalo, and here is your opportunity to show the trans community you've learned your lesson. So what if you already shot the film? Go the extra mile and spend the extra money on reshoots. What's a few million dollars for the sake of social justice? Did you not say that socialist Bernie Sanders "awoke something" in you? C'mon, Hulk, show us that green.

New Action Figure Makes Trump Ridiculous Again “Make action figures great again."

New Action Figure Makes Trump Ridiculous Again

“Make action figures great again."

Leftists have been tripping over themselves to create the latest and greatest in making Trump look ridiculous again. First came the naked Trump portrait, then the naked Trump statue, and now here comes the (thankfully) clothed Trump action figure
Erected by product and design company FCTRY – the same that made the popular Bernie Sanders action figures – the new Trump "over re-action figure" features the real-estate mogul flipping the bird with his "Twitter-sized hands approved by little Marco Rubio" while scowling rather constipatedly in the process.
Based in Brooklyn, New York, the company has already accepted pre-orders and will begin production if its $15,000 goal is met by November. They have already passed the halfway mark.
"Make action figures great again," says the pre-sale page. "We’ve been making lame, sissy action figures for years but now we are finally ready to take presidential toymaking to the next level. We are proud to introduce the new Donald Trump Action Figure – literally the greatest action figure ever made!" A model graphic of the doll accompanied by tongue-in-cheek captions can be seen below:
Taking its final dig at Trump, FCTRY has also pledged to put five percent of the doll's proceeds to the non-profit Border Angels, whom they describe as "a pretty questionable charity that … provides illegal Mexican immigrants with drinking water and medical assistance."

Maine Gov. Paul LePage Vows He Will 'No Longer Speak to the Press' "I am tired of being caught — the gotcha moments. You folks live in a seven-second fiction world."

Maine Gov. Paul LePage Vows He Will 'No Longer Speak to the Press'

"I am tired of being caught — the gotcha moments. You folks live in a seven-second fiction world."

1915
As controversy swirls around Maine Gov. Paul LePage's profanity-laced voicemail to a Democratic state lawmaker for allegedly calling him a racist, the Republican governor has now vowed to not speak with reporters.
The whole episode exploded when a reporter told LePage that Democratic Rep. Drew Gattine had called him a racist over comments he made about "people of color" racking up crime in his state. LePage took serious offense to that and shortly thereafter left Gattine a very angry voicemail calling him a "c–cksucker" and all sorts of disparaging phrases.
Gattine quickly rejected ever calling LePage a racist, claiming he only said that LePage had made racially-charged comments. As of Wednesday, LePage has accepted Gattine's claim and now blames the whole incident on the report that told him of Gattine's comments, vowing not to give interviews again.
"After speaking with Rep. Gattine, I think that the reporter who put the mic in my face owes the people of Maine an apology as well. Because (Gattine) never called me racist,  LePage told reporters. "He said I made racially (charged) comments. Maybe, in my mind, it is semantics. But in his mind, after talking to him, it was clear that there was a real difference. Fine."
"I will no longer speak to the press ever again after today," LePage continued. "And I’m serious. Everything will be put in writing. I am tired of being caught — the gotcha moments. You folks live in a seven-second fiction world. I live in 24-hour reality."
"Being called a racist was a horrible thing for me. It was enormously hurtful. It hurt my family. I will not resign, though," LePage concluded.
The "racially-charged" comments in question have been flooding leftist social media accounts, with Slate posting a gag-reel of LePage's comments when he spoke of crime coming into his state.

France's National Front Leader Le Pen Backs Trump "Hillary Clinton means devastation."

France's National Front Leader Le Pen Backs Trump

"Hillary Clinton means devastation."

Joining alongside Brexit leader Nigel Farage, France's National Front leader Marine Le Pen supports GOP candidate Donald Trump for President, saying "Hillary Clinton means devastation."
In an interview with CNN, Le Pen was asked if she and Donald Trump were mirror-images of each other on opposite continents, and though Le Pen didn't make direct comparison, she did explain their similarities.
"We are similar because we are not part of the establishment, we are not part of the system, and we do not depend on anybody and we don't take orders from anyone," she said.
On who should be President, Le Pen had nothing positive to say of Hillary Clinton, saying she would bring "devastation" on her beloved France.
"Anything is better than Hillary Clinton," said Le Pen. "Hillary Clinton means war. Hillary Clinton is devastation. Hillary Clinton is world instability. She would be a disaster for my people."
When pushed on the alleged negative results of Brexit, Le Pen dismissed them as "manipulation" to scare other nations into staying in the European Union. Reporter Hala Gorani character attempted to corner Le Pen by painting a potential "Frexit" as a rejection of continental peace, but Le Pen would not be intimidated, issuing a bold statement in support of her country.
"I am not from European province," she exclaimed. "I am a candidate to become President of France, not a province of Europe. France! With its history, its values, with what she brought to the world, and its value is sovereignty."
