Cheyenne's pro-homosexual bishop seems to be talking out of both sides of his mouth. While the bishop emeritus is drowning in allegations of homosexual predation and abuse — spanning from Missouri to Wyoming — the local ordinary's supportive words to victims do not match his actions. Church Militant's William Mahoney has more on what some see as a despicable injustice.

Brian Garvin Williams quietly struggled with deep sadness and depression, owing to sexual abuse and rape as a child. He ended his own life in March of this year. In a social media post, one of Williams' siblings lamented, "I have no doubt in my mind that part of what led to him taking his life were [sic] the recent decisions by both the state and diocese to not pursue any sort of charges or discipline against the monster ... former bishop Joseph Hart."

CNA video: "A retired bishop of Cheyenne, Wyoming, has been credibly accused of assaulting two boys while he was bishop. Allegations against emeritus bishop Joseph Hart first surfaced in 2002."

In 2017, Cheyenne's bishop, Steven Biegler, launched an investigation into allegations against Hart. Biegler concluded, "I hope that our investigation will lead to a final determination by the CDF [Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith] that these sexual abuse allegations against Bp. Hart are credible and require disciplinary action."

In January of this year, Pope Francis' CDF exonerated Hart of seven accusations, claiming five could not be proven "with moral certitude," while the other two boys, who were 16 and 17 at the time of abuse, were not minors according to Church law.

Responding to the Vatican's conclusions, Biegler said, "Today, I want the survivors to know that I support and believe you." But despite his nice words, Biegler continues to support Hart financially. In fact, just days after Brian Williams ended his life, Biegler requested the Wyoming Catholic Ministries Foundation pay for Hart's biopsy.

Sources in the diocese inform Church Militant Bp. Biegler provides Hart with residence, health insurance and a monthly stipend of more than $2,000.

Along with pro-homosexual prelates like Cdl. Joseph Tobin and Bp. John Stowe, Biegler signed "God Is on Your Side — a Statement From Catholic Bishops on Protecting LGBT Youth."
