CAMBRIDGE, England (ChurchMilitant.com) - A British court has vindicated an evangelical pastor who was forced out of his secular job after he shared a tweet from a U.S. Catholic bishop warning against gay pride events.

Judge Sarah King vindicates Pastor Keith Waters

"Beliefs which are offensive, shocking or even disturbing to others can still be protected," Judge Sarah King ruled in a judgment in favor of Keith Waters, then pastor of New Connexions Church in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

Waters was terrorized by LGBTQ+ activists after he reminded Christians not to "support or attend LGBTQ+ 'Pride Month' events held in June," Church Militant reported in December 2019.

The preacher copied a tweet from Bp. Thomas Tobin of Providence, Rhode Island, explaining how LGBTQ+ Pride displays "promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Christian faith and morals" and "are especially harmful for children."

Helen Davies, then headteacher of the Isle of Ely Primary School (which employed the pastor as a caretaker), issued Waters a final warning for bringing the school into disrepute, leading to Waters' resignation.

Rule of Law

"Evangelical Christian ministers will have views not necessarily shared by everyone in society, but that is part of their duty as a Christian minister — to preach those beliefs," King ruled in a 58-page judgment published April 21.

King stated:

The same could be said about some other aspects of Christianity which could conflict with other religions. This does not mean that they are not capable of being respected. Whilst a majority may not share those views, the claimant is entitled to hold them.

The fact that the claimant made the tweet outside of work, on his personal account, as part of his role as a Christian minister, is highly relevant. It is one thing to have rules that apply during work and something else to extend those to one's private life.

Curtailing the pastor's "freedom of speech outside of work, which is an important part of his role as a Christian minister and thus part of freedom to practice his religion," can be done "only in the clearest cases, where the rights of others are being damaged," she noted.

Waters told Church Militant that "the key issue" for him was his employer's insistence that "their internal policies could be applied to my legitimate activities as a Christian in the public square, and, therefore, they felt they had a right to decide what I should and should not have legitimately said, if another individual were to find my words offensive."

Waters elaborated:

I was sorry to find that it became necessary to take this to law, as I had no desire to sue the school. However, it became clear that my employer felt they had the right to decide the limits of the freedom of speech and expression of Christians, even outside of the workplace, which meant I was left with no other remedy but the law court.

It is crucial that I and other Christians continue to stand firmly on the truth of Scripture and live as salt and light in our society. This is especially true when it comes to children's physical, emotional, mental and spiritual safety. We must never stand back and risk harm to the children of today.

Judge King also ruled that Waters' tweet was not homophobic, noting that the headteacher gave "significant weight to the views of those that complained rather than looking objectively at what the claimant had written."

The judge also explained that it is legitimate for preachers to use social media to "spread the word" even though it "puts the word in the public forum" where nonbelievers can access the messages.

Similarly, Waters records his sermons and uploads them on his church's website, and there may well be content in those sermons listeners would find offensive, leading to a breach in the policy of the school, the judge observed.

"The issue is that someone may well take offense at anything, but the question is whether that is reasonable in all the circumstances," King emphasized.

Even though not all Christians hold the same view on the sinfulness of homosexual acts, the belief that "sexual relationships are only appropriate within a heterosexual marriage" is a biblical tenet covered by the "religion or belief" protected characteristic within the Equality Act 2010, she ruled.

"Indeed, some members of society may share that view for non-religious reasons or, indeed, share that view because they have other religious beliefs," King added.

Violent Mob Rule

Waters received death threats from LGBTQ+ hate groups in Ely, and locals even attempted to drive the pastor and his family out of the countrified cathedral town.

Gay activists told a local undertaker that Waters was dead and asked for his funeral to be arranged. Waters' wife, Joanna, was shocked when the funeral director and his assistant visited her asking how she wanted to dispose of his body.

John Elworthy, gay activist and editor of Cambs Times, Wisbech Standard and Ely Standard, attacked both Waters and Tobin and tried to get Waters' church expelled from the hall they were renting from the Cambridgeshire City Council.

After failing to bully Waters into apologizing for his beliefs, the pastor was pilloried on the front page of the Cambridge Evening News, which contrasted his disapproval of the pride parades to the Church of England Ely Cathedral's willingness to fly a gay pride flag with the support of Stephen Conway, bishop of Ely.

Bishop Tobin was also attacked by LGBT groups, including Rhode Island Pride, which tweeted, "This bishop doesn't represent a majority of Rhode Island Catholics — who overwhelmingly supported marriage equality six years ago. Love is love. You, sir, are filled with hate."

Andrea Williams, chief executive of the Christian Legal Centre (which represented Waters), lamented that "what happened to Keith Waters is the latest in a long line of cases where honest, kind, normal people are subjected to harassment and intimidation for expressing moderate, mainstream Christian views on sexual ethics."

"This is a victory, not just for me, but for all orthodox Christians working in the secular workplaces of our nation," Waters said.

The global elitists' manufactured pandemic has had one potentially irreversible outcome — Americans are more skeptical than ever about the health care-industrial complex. Church Militant's Kristine Christlieb checks in with an organization that is helping families sort through their options.

Doctor Larry Palevsky, holistic pediatrician: "This is a start. This is a huge start. We need a different type of medicine. We don't have it. We need to build it. We don't know what it's going to look like yet."

Michigan for Vaccine Choice is offering parents a new way of thinking about health and wellness.

At the organization's Natural Parenting Conference on Saturday, 13 speakers shared their expertise with a roomful of mostly moms but also dads.

Tasha Shurgin, event coordinator, Michigan for Vaccine Choice:

For me, COVID's been a blessing because we've been able to see what's not working for families, for schools, for our health system. And we've also been able to see what is working better. You know, even if you look at homeschooling, people are pulling their kids out of school at massive rates right now because something just doesn't feel right.

The amount of health care information parents are trying to process is overwhelming.

Brittany, attendee: "I think everyone's just confused. And I think, even in the natural world, I think they're confused because everyone says different things. You know, even in the natural world, they're divided. I think the division is what confuses people."

Holistic pediatrician Dr. Larry Palevsky, the event's keynote speaker, believes parents need to regain their confidence in children's ability to heal and in home remedies that have been long forgotten.

Palevsky: "It used to be handed down from great-great-grandmother to great-grandmother to grandmother to mother to daughter. And we have lost the wisdom of taking care of kids when they're sick."

America's health care-industrial complex has been given free rein for decades. But growing numbers of parents are looking for new choices.

The United Nations' World Health Organization is in the process of taking over international health care policies. This could render null and void the regulations of sovereign nations and independent entities. In tonight's In-Depth Report, Church Militant's Paul Murano takes a look at what may be another power-grabbing scheme of the Left.

James Roguski; author, researcher and activist: "This is a five-alarm fire. We need all hands on deck. I'm not kidding. This is very serious."

The World Health Organization is on the verge of acquiring autocratic rule over the health decisions of 194 member nations. In the last week of May, the WHO plans on approving, by simple majority, 13 amendments to an international pandemic agreement, originally ratified in 2005.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO director general: "I wrote about the multi-dimensional crisis that humanity is facing."

Critics say the revised treaty would give the WHO power to control the narrative, censor dissenting voices and stifle alternative ideas and medicine. The world has already seen a taste of this during the China-virus pandemic.

Dr. Pierre Kory, cofounder and president, Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance: "The world has gone mad, and it's not their fault. It's from unrelenting propaganda and censoring of good information."

Passports, jabs and lockdowns are some of the things this treaty could internationalize. And it's not a stretch, say critics, that what's now occurring in Shanghai could happen elsewhere, including here in America. Further, as Church Militant reported last month, such an international, top-down approach will ignore cultural differences and disregard the unique needs of individual nations.

Shabnam Palesa Mohamed, steering committee member, World Council for Health: "[It] essentially gives WHO an inordinate amount of power. ... From lockdowns to mandates over treatments and, really, what people have started to consider a one-size-fits-all approach, which, to date, has actually not worked."

The renewed agreement may have far-reaching implications for international freedom and autonomy.

Roguski: "They're changing article 12, section 2. And it essentially wipes out 194 nations' sovereignty to decide whether or not they allow an international organization to step in and take over."

In a letter published a month ago in newspapers around the globe, world leaders promoted the idea: "We must seize this opportunity and come together as a global community. ... Pandemic preparedness needs global leadership for a global health system."

Ashish Jha, Biden COVID advisor: "We need funding to ensure we're getting shots in arms around the world."

Observers claim this attempt at imposing mandates from above further builds a foundation for a one world government.

Narrator, Be Free Publications: "The goal of Agenda 21 is one world government."

The instinct for people to seek peace through a united humanity is natural and good. But in a post-Eden world, any attempt at unity, especially if not based in truth, will end in tyranny.

National leaders that signed the letter promoting the agreement include the United Kingdom's Boris Johnson, Germany's Angela Merkel, France's Emmanuel Macron and over 20 more heads of state.
