Known MS-13 Gang Member Arrested in Virginia for Multiple Homicides

A Salvadoran national known as “Terror” was one of the 10 most wanted fugitives in Texas.

Why this is happening is truly mind-blowing. A known MS-13 gang member suspected of committing at least two murders in Texas was apprehended in Arlington, Virginia.  WTOP reports:
Douglas Alexander Herrera-Hernandez, 20, was arrested in Arlington, Virginia, in connection with two homicides in Texas.
Arlington County police, along with federal agents, arrested 20-year-old Douglas Alexander Herrera-Hernandez on Saturday, while he was walking near Four Mile Run Drive and Columbia Pike.
The Texas Department of Public Safety issued an all-points bulletin for Herrera’s arrest on July 26. Local law enforcement and ICE agencies received information that the suspect was possibly in Virginia.
Herrera is wanted in connection with two murders in the Houston area. The first warrant is for a shooting in Missouri City, Texas, on June 13, 2016; the second is in connection to a homicide on July 9, 2017.
Herrera, a Salvadoran national known as “Terror,” was one of the 10 most wanted fugitives in Texas, according to an ICE statement. ICE records indicate that Herrera was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol in December 2014 when he entered the country illegally in Texas. An immigration judge ordered his removal to El Salvador after Herrera failed to appear in court in June 2015 for his hearing.
Herrera is in jail in Arlington County, pending extradition to Texas.
We hope that this time, the system will work to protect the American people.

Oakland Bakery Paints Giant Mural toHonor Palestinian Terrorist

Oakland Bakery Paints Giant Mural toHonor Palestinian Terrorist

It’ll make you throw up your flatbread.

A bakery in Oakland, California, owned by a Palestinian-Syrian, has a large painted mural dedicated to convicted Palestinian terrorist Rasmea Odeh near its front counter. Odeh killed two Israeli students in a 1969 food market bombing for which she only served 10 years of a life sentence in prison. She was released as part of a plea deal in exchange for a captured Israeli soldier. In 1995, Odeh moved to Chicago via Jordan but lied on her immigration papers, checking “no” for past convictions of crimes. She is scheduled to be deported to Jordan in August for the fraud, but not before being lionized by the bakery and just about everyone on the Left as a progressive icon.
Reem Assil, the owner of the Arab-infused Reem’s California, considers Odeh, an organizer of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine which carried out several other foiled bombings, as a mere political activist wrongly arrested and convicted by Israel. She also believes Odeh was sexually tortured into a confession by Israeli authorities. And because of that, Assil says Odeh deserves the giant portrait because she is an “emblem of resilience” and told a Berkeley-based food critic that Odeh is a modern day Malcolm X:
“[Odeh] embodies the resilience of Arab women fighting for justice in this country. She is an elder to a lot of us younger women who are activists and want to do right among our community.”
Assil, a former labor activist and community organizer, views her bakery as a place where activism and culture meet. The mural, she said, “pays our respect to people like [Odeh] who have had to endure.” As an added social justice bonus, Odeh has a painted pin on her Islamic head covering of 22-year-old Oakland resident Oscar Grant who was killed by police in 2009.
Others who heap praise on Odeh include Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour, who heralds Odeh regularly and was recently “honored” to share the stage with her at an anti-Israel event. Both women helped organize the Women’s March after President Trump’s inauguration and Odeh co-authored the manifesto for the militant feminist “Day Without a Woman” strike two months later.
Here is the bakery owner defending her pro-terrorism decoration:

Not everyone in Oakland is happy about the mural. Organized protests outside the bakery have been going on since it opened. Because most may be unaware of Odeh’s past, the protesters stand in front of the entrance holding pictures of Edward Joffe and Leon Kanner, the two Hebrew University students killed by the bomb Odeh planted in 1969. Some have even held vigils for the murdered Jews in front of the eatery.
But in kind, those protests and vigils have been targeted by anti-Israel activists who have physically attacked protesters, including the elderly, and destroyed the pictures of the murdered men. Below is footage from a recent protest, which are in danger of being shut down by Assil who is trying to complain of trespassing:
As Legal Insurrection’s Miriam Elman concluded, “The effort to stifle and silence Oakland’s vigils in honor of Rasmea Odeh’s victims is even more offensive and grievous than the fact that Reem’s California is decorated with a giant image of her face.”

Born Smart? Shame on You! BetterCheck Your Privilege

Born Smart? Shame on You! BetterCheck Your Privilege

“You have nothing to be proud of for being smart.”

If you were accidentally born smart, then shame on you, according to an op-ed in the University of Iowa’s student newspaper, The Daily Iowan. Move over, white privilege, there’s a new privilege in town and it needs to be checked.
Dan Williams writes:
There are many kinds of privilege besides white privilege: cognitive privilege, for example. We now know that intelligence is not something we have significant control over but is something we are born with. We are living in a society in which success is increasingly linked to one’s intelligence. This is not to say that intelligence is the only factor that is important. All that is implied is that below a certain threshold of intelligence, there are fewer and fewer opportunities. These opportunities are being shifted upward to jobs that require heavier cognitive lifting or else are being replaced by robots. Thus, the accident of having been born smart enough to be able to be successful is a great benefit that you did absolutely nothing to earn. Consequently, you have nothing to be proud of for being smart.
Now to social justice progressives, this doesn’t mean white privilege is out; to the contrary. Williams says there’s just too much “confusion about what white privilege is” and therefore, “the wider concept” of “privilege itself” needs to be understood before moving on to white privilege.
“Once we have admitted the reality of privilege itself and identified some species of privilege, we are better able to talk about the temperature-rising topic of racial privilege,” Williams states.
Privilege, he adds, is “the receipt of certain benefits wholly through the accident of birth.” In other words, Williams continues, if someone was born the unluckiest person in the world, then that makes the rest of us privileged of not being the unluckiest person in the world. See how this works (and the kind of leftists we're dealing with)?
Being aware of privilege isn’t something your garden variety identity politicker wants instilled as “a sort of Catholic guilt,” but “to enlarge their moral consciousness, to make them more sympathetic to people who are less fortunate than they are," Williams furthers.
“The purpose of pointing out someone’s privilege is to remind them of the infinite number of experiences that are possible and the very large number of experiences that are actual that they know very little about,” Williams writes, confidently assuming the rest of us aren’t smart enough to realize everybody experiences different things. (Apparently, Williams is still in the process of checking his cognitive priv.)
In conclusion, Williams recognizes that “feelings of guilt are natural” when realizing ones privileges, but states that it is an “impediment to social-justice action, not a motivator” because guilt breeds resentment.
“We can debate whether ‘whiteness’ is a sort of ‘master privilege’ that overrules all others,” he ends. “Personally, I don’t find this believable — I don’t think our present society is that racist — but I imagine it once was. And that is enough to make one shudder.”
No, this article is enough to make us shudder. We’re more dumber for having read it!

Illegal Alien Deported 20 Times Rapes Elderly Woman in Sanctuary City

Illegal Alien Deported 20 Times Rapes Elderly Woman in Sanctuary City

Can this be the last piece of evidence as to why sanctuary is a bad idea?

A 31-year-old illegal alien with a long criminal history was allowed to carry out a brutal assault on an elderly woman because of Portland, Oregon’s, status as a sanctuary city.
Police say Sergio Jose Martinez broke into a 65-year-old woman’s home in the early morning of July 24 by climbing through a bedroom window left open to help cool the home. He spoke “calmly and quietly,” a KGW report noted, as he tied up the woman’s hands and feet and blindfolded her after he ordered her on the ground. Martinez then raped the woman and threatened to kill her. He left after punching the victim in the head several times and slamming her head on the floor.
Martinez stole the woman’s car and drove to a parking garage where he attacked another woman. This time, he waited in a dark corner until he pounced on his next victim. Martinez robbed her at knife point and tried to kidnap her. The woman fought back and pushed the panic button on her remote. When she tried to run away, Martinez tackled her and slammed her head onto the ground. Some people nearby heard the woman’s screams and when they came to help, Martinez fled. He was arrested shortly after.
Here’s what we know about the suspect:
  • deported 20 times -- that's 20
  • five probation violations for re-entering the U.S., most recently in November 2016
  • felony conviction for burglary
  • three misdemeanors for battery, theft, and obstructing a police officer
  • history of meth use and currently using every day
Martinez can now add first-degree kidnapping, two counts of first degree robbery, second-degree assault, first-degree sex abuse, first-degree sodomy, and first-degree burglary.
According to KGW, Immigration and Customs Enforcement filed an immigration detainer against Martinez last December and asked local authorities to notify the agency before releasing him from jail. However, no such notification was sent when authorities let him go and allowed him to wander unabated around the proud sanctuary city of Portland. As Multnomah County leaders and Sheriff Mike Reese said in a letter released this year, “The Sheriff’s Office does not hold people in county jails on ICE detainers or conduct any immigration enforcement actions.”
Perhaps they’ll reconsider, since that allows criminal aliens to have their way with innocent citizens.

Brian Williams Praised McCain’s ‘Moral Courage’ to Keep Obamacare

Brian Williams Praised McCain’s ‘Moral Courage’ to Keep Obamacare

Lyin’ Brian lets that bias slip in.

6729
With no attempt to contain his extreme bias, MSNBC's Brian Williams said it took “moral courage” for Republican Sen. John McCain to vote to keep Obamacare and he hopes it's contagious.
Williams prompted panelist Charlie Sykes on his Friday evening program:
“Charlie, much was made of that moment, a moment of moral courage, a man staring down his own mortality yet again, not the first time in his life. But let’s also talk about the courage of Murkowski of Alaska and Collins of Maine, because without those two women, there is no moment like that for John McCain. My question to you: Is that kind of courage, for people cheering them on, going to be contagious?”
Williams began the segment talking with Steve Schmidt, a GOP strategist, praising the “hero” Republicans of the Watergate scandal as a backdrop to his comment on McCain:
“Steve, as we always say, the heroes of Watergate were, for the most part, Republicans. At least the surprise as it un-spooled. And the surprise in the end. Are you looking for that same thing of course coming off last night? Murkowski, Collins and McCain in the well of the Senate. Are you looking for Republicans to change their behavior and comments?”
For McCain’s big moment, which sent a quick wave of applause throughout the floor by Senate Democrats, Williams added:
“In the well of the Senate, it came down to one very dramatic moment. Senator John McCain walks in, asks to be recognized, raises that right arm broken three different places in North Vietnam, a quick indicator with a thumbs down. The Democrats briefly react, Senator Schumer waives off any verbal reaction. But with that, it was done. Seven years of talk about repeal and replace done in one hand gesture.”
Isn’t it strange that Williams only praises Republicans when it fits the narrative he prefers?

IRS Rehiring Employees Previously Sacked Over Abuses of Taxpayer Information Because of course they are!

IRS Rehiring Employees Previously Sacked Over Abuses of Taxpayer Information

Because of course they are!

62
The IRS is rehiring former employees despite the fact that they mishandled highly sensitive information on American taxpayers and other concerning abuses.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, these employees either falsified documents, had unauthorized access to taxpayer information, and various violations of the Internal Revenue Code.
Auditors said, “Two rehired employees had repetitively falsified employment forms by omitting prior convictions or terminations. One rehired employee had several misdemeanors for theft and a felony for possession of a forgery device, and another rehired employee had threatened his or her co-workers.”
Also, according to auditors, “Three rehired employees had ‘excessive’ absence without leave for more than 270, 150, and 140 hours respectively, and one rehired employee was cited for unprofessional conduct based on a verbal altercation with a security guard at an IRS facility.”
The report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration cites concern that the employees will be repeat offenders and that includes those employees who cheated their own tax returns.
Of the 2,000 employees hired by the IRS between 2015 and 2016, over 200 were fired or left while under investigation. The report advises:
Given the substantial threat of identity theft and the magnitude of sensitive information that the IRS holds, hiring employees of high integrity is essential to maintaining public trust in tax administration and safeguarding taxpayer information.
The IRS has not effectively updated or implemented hiring policies to fully consider past IRS conduct and performance issues prior to making a tentative decision to hire former employees, including those who were terminated or separated during an investigation of a substantiated conduct or performance issue.
IRS officials state that it would be “cost prohibitive to review prior issues before a hiring decision and tentative offer has been made.”
The report caused Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) to introduce a bill to nip this in the bud: “Whether it is the rehiring of previously terminated employees or continuing to give bonuses to poorly performing executives who can’t be fired – the delinquency at the IRS must end. It’s exactly actions like this that erode the public’s trust in their government.”
