Man Pushed His Pregnant Girlfriend Under a Bus Because She Refused to Have an Abortion

Man Pushed His Pregnant Girlfriend Under a Bus Because She Refused to Have an Abortion

STATE   MICAIAH BILGER   AUG 1, 2017   |   7:06PM    NEW YORK, NY
Another man allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend after she refused to abort their unborn baby, this time in Rio de Janeiro.
The New York Post reports Lucas Monteiro, 25, allegedly pushed his ex-girlfriend in front of a moving bus because she would not give into his pressure to kill their unborn baby.
A security camera on a nearby building caught Monteiro in the act. It shows him allegedly pushing the woman in front of a bus. The woman can be seen falling under the moving bus and her legs appear to be run over before the bus stops.
The ex-girlfriend is four months pregnant, and she survived. The report does not indicate if her unborn baby was injured.
Monteiro has been arrested for attempted murder. He allegedly wanted her to have the abortion because he is a law student in Canada, and the baby delayed his plans to return to school, according to the report.
Pregnant women face high levels of domestic violence. In the United States, one in sixwomen is first abused during pregnancy, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Abortion sometimes is linked to the abuse. Last June, LifeNews reported another gruesome murder case where a North Carolina woman allegedly was murdered by her boyfriend after refusing to abort their child.
In March, a Hawaii jury convicted another man of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriendafter prosecutors said he stabbed her to death for refusing to abort their unborn child. It does not appear that there were any charges in connection to the unborn child’s death.
And in 2016, a Brooklyn, New York man was sentenced to 32 years in prison for a similar case. A jury found the man guilty of abortion, burglary and assault for beating his pregnant girlfriend and causing the death of their unborn child, LifeNews reported.
As LifeNews previously reported, one study found that as many as 64 percent of post-abortive women say they felt pressure to have an abortion.
Elliot Institute Director David Reardon, who co-authored the Medical Science Monitor study, said, “In many of the cases documented for our ‘Forced Abortion in America’ report, police and witnesses reported that acts of violence and murder took place after the woman refused to abort or because the attacker didn’t want the pregnancy.”
“Even if a woman isn’t physically threatened, she often faces intense pressure, abandonment, lack of support, or emotional blackmail if she doesn’t abort. While abortion is often described as a ‘choice,’ women who’ve been there tell a very different story,” Reardon said.

Blind Elderly Man Arrested for Trying to Stop Abortion Clinic Staffer From Stealing His Sign is Acquitted

Blind Elderly Man Arrested for Trying to Stop Abortion Clinic Staffer From Stealing His Sign is Acquitted

STATE   CHERYL SULLENGER   AUG 1, 2017   |   11:40AM    WICHITA, KS
A nearly blind pro-life activist has been acquitted of battery charges that were brought after he defended a sign that an abortion clinic security guard was trying to steal.
David Schmidt, 74, who is considered legally blind, was serving as a volunteer for the Kansas Coalition for Life (KCFL) in July 2016, taking shifts outside the South Wind Women’s Center abortion facility located in Wichita, Kansas. He was wrongly arrested and jailed after the abortion business’ security guard, John Rayburn, attempted to illegally confiscate a sign that Schmidt had tied to a chair used by KCFL volunteers. A tussle over the sign ensued. [Read Operation Rescue’s original report on Schmidt’s arrest.]
Schmidt was convicted of battery in Wichita Municipal Court in February, but appealed the case to the Sedgwick County Superior Court, where he was exonerated on July 25, 2017.
Representing Schmidt at the appeal were Wichita attorney Peter Orsi and Martin Cannon of the Chicago-based Thomas More Society.
“These two guys got me out from under a pile of manure,” Schmidt told the Wichita Eaglesoon after his acquittal.

The incident that led to Schmidt’s arrest arose from the 2016 enactment of a new city sign ordinance, which bans traditionally protected forms of free speech, including the use of sidewalk chalk and signs that are not hand-held.
Rayburn told the court that he attempted to take Schmidt’s sign, thinking it was in violation of the sign ordinance.
However, the Wichita Eagle reported, “Judge Terry Pullman ruled that Rayburn had no legal right to seize the sign because he’s a private citizen and had not been trained by the city in sign-code enforcement.”
Cannon argued successfully that Schmidt had a right to defend KCFL property from theft.
“We consider the sign ordinance to be unconstitutional. The South Wind abortion clinic is using it to bully, harass and intimidate pro-life activists that are peacefully offering information and practical assistance to abortion-bound women,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, which is based in Wichita, Kansas. “The fact that the City would willing serve as abortion facility henchmen is appallingly wrong and unacceptable.”
Just last week, another KCFL volunteer, Jennifer McCoy, informed Operation Rescue that the South Wind abortion business called the police on a 12-year old girl in McCoy’s care who was drawing with chalk on the sidewalk outside the abortion facility. The child was completely unaware of the ordinance and was just passing time coloring on the sidewalk, as children often like to do.
After some discussion, the police thankfully declined to arrest the child.

Fathers of Aborted Babies Experience Devastating Pain and Regret

Fathers of Aborted Babies Experience Devastating Pain and Regret

OPINION   KEVIN BURKE   AUG 1, 2017   |   11:02AM    WASHINGTON, DC
I was surprised and encouraged to see an article in the Daily Mail Abortion and the Men haunted by Regret featuring a number of fathers sharing openly about their abortion experience.
One father, Tony shares about his state of mind at the time he learned of an unplanned pregnancy. His partner Jenny was set on termination even as Tony pleaded with her to give birth to their child:
“My mind was all over the place…You are experiencing such conflicting thoughts and emotions. On one hand, you’re trying to get your head round the fact you’re going to be a dad when you didn’t plan to be and preparing to be emotionally connected to this child. On the other, you’ve got to disconnect, because there might never be a baby.”
“You got to disconnect…because there might never be a baby.” The social sanctioning of abortion, the context of “choice,” attacks the heart and soul of what it means to be a father.
The reality of the child’s existence is calling this young father to embrace his vocation, no matter how challenging the circumstances. Yet the legal reality that he is powerless, and his partner’s rejection of their baby, necessitates disconnection.

Fortunately Tony reached out for help and saw a counselor to help him cope with the natural anger and grief that flowed from this attack upon his manhood and fatherhood.
Charlie Conner serves with the Rachel’s Vineyard abortion healing program in the United Kingdom. Charlie shares in the Daily Mail article about some of the challenges men face after abortion:
“It’s natural that there is guilt and shame — a mourning process is meant to happen…Guilt will be greater if the man was the driving force in the abortion. Even if they are not religious, they can feel punished when there are other difficulties in their lives. If they have other children, there can be the fear something will happen to them as a result of what they did.”
The article touched on a number of important themes:
  • The role of contraceptive failure and intentional contraceptive failure in unplanned pregnancy
  • The damage to men of being both passive and powerless to prevent the abortion or active agents in the child’s death.
  • The same sex identity embraced by one man 3 years after the procedure
  • Some men can experience symptoms associated with emotional trauma after abortion
  • The delayed onset of grief, regret etc. for some men and the need for counseling and other support.
  • The common relationship termination following the procedure
  • One of the men featured remained single and childless 15 years after procedure
  • Anniversary reactions to the date of the abortion or around the time of the child’s due date
