Wine is mentioned by the prophets as a sign of the Jews' return to the Land of Israel. One Israeli vintner is experiencing this prophecy fulfilled.

Eyal Tsair, a vintner at the Golan Heights Winery, combines three of his greatest passions in his job: wine, Torah, and the Land of Israel. For Tsair, wine has certainly played an important, if not prophetic role in his aliyah (immigration to Israel). Arriving in 1991 from Germany, he began working at the Golan Heights Winery in 1993 upon completion of his service in the Israel Defense Force.

For Tsair, it is clear that making wine is far more than creating a beverage. He believes that, contained in his bottles, is the most powerful proof that the Jewish people have returned to their Biblical homeland.
"Several prophets speak specifically about grape vines as a part of the Jews' return to the Land of Israel," Tsair said to Breaking Israel News. "What is so special about grapes? Why didn't the prophets speak about wheat or herds of cattle? When the prophets describe a return to Israel that included grape vines, they were describing a specific type of return; one that will be permanent.

"Contained in a bottle of wine is the proof that the Jews have returned to Israel in a meaningful and permanent manner," Tsair continued. "It takes many years of work until you enjoy the wine. After you plant a grape vine, you have to wait four years for orla." Orla (literally 'uncircumcised') refers to the prohibition of eating the fruit from a tree planted in Israel for the first three years. When the Temple exists, the fruit of the fourth year may be eaten in Jerusalem.

When you enter the land and plant any tree for food, you shall regard its fruit as forbidden. Three years it shall be forbidden for you, not to be eaten. In the fourth year all its fruit shall be set aside for jubilation before Hashem. Leviticus 19:23

"Even after we harvest the grapes, aged red wine sits in the cask for two years," Tsair explained. "Planting grape vines is a long-term investment. It is only for those who are truly connected to the land and who plan on being here for many years to come."
For Golan Heights Winery, this process was been even longer and more tenuous. Planting their first vines in 1976 was a leap of faith. Israel's northern Golan Heights were conquered in the 1967 Six-Day War but the region was not annexed by the Israeli government until 1981.

The yet-to-be-harvested vineyards were nearly lost when Syria overran the region in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The first Golan wine was produced in 1983, immediately receiving international accolades.

The winery has invested heavily in the Golan, based on the belief that the prophetic return of the Jews to the region is permanent. They currently harvest more than 1,200 acres of vineyards. Their yield of 5.5 million bottles of wine annually is relatively low since they emphasize quality over quantity.

Tsair contrasted this long-term investment to the manner in which others have related to the Land.

"It is true that the Arabs were here. But, they passed through with their flocks, consuming everything in their path and then moved on," Tsair said. "Goats rip out the roots and leave the Land barren. That is not how the true owner of the Land acts. There is no personal investment."

Tsair compared this to King Solomon's judgement between two women claiming one baby as their own. Solomon offered to cut the baby in half, giving one half to each claimant. The true mother refused as her love for her child made it unbearable to bring any harm to her baby.

"Everywhere you go in Israel, you can see the love the Jewish people have for the Land," Tsair said. "The Arabs claim it is theirs. But, when there is a dispute like there is in the south of Israel right now, they don't hesitate to burn everything."
Tsair emphasized that wine production was always thriving whenever there was a Jewish presence in Israel.

"Grapes are one of the seven species that receive a special blessing in the Bible," he noted.

A land of wheat and barley, of vines, figs, and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey. Deuteronomy 8:8

"This special blessing was evident in Roman times when wine from Israel was highly prized as the best in the world," Tsair explained. "Wine has always been part of the Jewish presence in Israel, especially here in the Golan."

Tsair presented to Breaking Israel News a map dotted with ancient wine-presses that archaeologists discovered in the Golan.

"Unfortunately, we no longer have the original species of grape vines," he said. "For 1,300 years of Muslim dominance in the region, wine production was prohibited."

Tsair has a passion for wine and even has a small winery at his home in Migdal on the shores of the Galilee. He is still waiting for the ultimate expression of his wine-making skills.

"I am here for the entire journey," Tsair said. "It is my dream that one day, I can bring my best wine to the Temple."

What's On & Off The Table When It Comes To Middle East Peace

Long eluding his predecessors, U.S. President Donald Trump has not shied away from attempting to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which he has called the "deal of the century."

Trump has broken with previous administrations by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and relocating the U.S. embassy there. While relations with Israel may be at an all-time high, the same cannot be said of the Palestinians, who have officially boycotted the Trump administration since last year's announcement over Jerusalem and what they perceive as favoritism towards Israel at present.
In recent weeks, tensions between the Palestinians and Trump have increased with the Trump administration cutting more than $200 million in assistance to the Palestinians. This also comes as the Trump administration has withheld $65 million to UNRWA, the U.N. Relief and Works Agency dedicated solely to the needs of Palestinian refugees, with additional reports indicating that the United States may cut all funding to UNRWA in the coming weeks.

The growing strain has also been exacerbated by speculation over the announcement of plan by the administration to bring forth a peace deal between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Jonathan Schanzer, senior vice president of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and expert on Palestinian politics, told JNS that the intent of the Trump administration's cuts targeting the Palestinian Authority and UNRWA seem to be geared towards weakening the Palestinian's negotiating position ahead of talks.

"The logic here seems to be an intent to weaken the Palestinian negotiating position before rolling out the peace process, with the intent of offering a lifeline to lure them into a new paradigm," he said. "The cuts to the P.A. and UNRWA certainly have the potential to be destabilizing. It really depends on how long this period lasts. It should not be prolonged if the intent is to prevent instability."

Yet Ghaith al-Omari, an expert on Palestinian and Arab matters for the Washington Institution for Near East Policy, said the cuts by the Trump administration will likely play right into the hands of the Palestinian leadership.

"These cuts will undoubtedly have a negative impact on the Palestinian population in the West Bank and Gaza, but the public anger will be directed against the U.S. and Israel not the P.A.," he said. "The angry mood created by these measures plays into the P.A.'s hands as it reinforces [Mahmoud] Abbas's rhetoric casting the Trump administration as an antagonist."

As such, al-Omari believes that this will bolster the Palestinian public's support for Abbas not to engage with Trump, while also possibly producing volatility in the West Bank and Gaza.

"These cuts could produce instability that could manifest in a deteriorating security atmosphere in the West Bank and Gaza dues to the worsening humanitarian conditions," he said.
Tackling UNRWA 'head on'

Nevertheless, the Trump administration has begun targeting UNRWA with the hope of reforming the institution that provides services to more than 5 million Palestinian refugees. Detractors have argued that UNRWA, which counts every Arab who fled during the 1948 War of Independence and their descendants as refugees--an arrangement that is exclusive to just the Palestinian refugees--has helped to perpetuate the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by keeping millions of Palestinians as permanent refugees.

"We will be a donor if it [UNRWA] reforms what it does ... if they actually change the number of refugees to an accurate account, we will look back at partnering them," U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley said recently.

Additional reports have also indicated that the Trump administration may officially refute the Palestinian "right of return."

Asaf Romirowsky, executive director of the Scholars for Peace in the Middle East and a co-author of the 2013 book Religion, Politics, and the Origins of Palestine Refugee Relief, explains that the cuts by the Trump administration to UNRWA will help raise awareness over the issues concerning UNRWA.

"I suspect the cuts will be part of the preconditions for talks which the P.A. will reject. That said, [they] will ultimately raise national awareness re: UNRWA's functionality," he said.

"It also sheds light on the subversive dynamic between UNRWA and the Palestinian leadership; the existence of UNRWA allows the Palestinian Authority to continue shirking core responsibilities towards its citizens," he added.

While the United States has not ignored the issue of UNRWA in the past--with a number of congressional resolutions seeking to limit or cut off funding, as well as promoting transparency and accountability in regards to UNRWA since the 1970s--Romirowsky said this is the first time the issue has been tackled head on.

"Understanding the way that UNRWA helps perpetuate the Palestinian refugee problem reveals an entrenched and dysfunctional bureaucracy, accustomed to 70 years of international welfare, including over $370 million from the U.S. in 2016," he said.

Involving the Arab world in peace talks

At the same time, reports over the past year have emerged indicating that the Trump administration has been reaching out to Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, which has no formal diplomatic ties with Israel, to play a role in facilitating peace. Reports have even gone as far as to suggest that Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states may normalize relations with Israel before striking a deal with the Palestinians.

"The Trump administration initially tried to build on the shared Israel and Arab concerns regarding Iran in order to adopt the 'outside-in' approach, whereby they sought to convince Arab states to open relations with Israel before a Palestinian-Israeli peace deal is concluded," said al-Omari. "These efforts were bound to fail since Arab states have traditionally and consistently been unwilling to pay the political and diplomatic price of publicly opposing or even going ahead of the Palestinians on such an emotive issue."
In June, both Kushner and Greenblatt visited several Arab states--Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Qatar--in a bid to reportedly drum up support ahead of the Trump administration's rollout of its peace plan. Kushner and Greenblatt also discussed with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman about providing humanitarian relief to the Gaza Strip, according to the White House at the time.

Additional reports have also circulated regarding Israel attempting to form a long-term truce with Hamas through indirect negotiations via Egypt and other Arab states, such as Qatar.

Nevertheless, Schanzer believes that the Arab Gulf states remain key to the success or failure any peace deal for the Trump administration.

"If the Gulf states can exert their influence and push the Palestinians toward the Trump position--whatever that may be--then there is a fighting chance for success. It certainly won't be the United States or even members of the [Middle East] Quartet fulfilling this role," he said.

The 'deal of the century'

Moving forward, it is unclear exactly what type of plan the Trump administration aims to introduce. Experts are split on whether or not Trump will continue support for a two-state solution or introduce a new paradigm to the equation.

"From what we can see, this will be vastly different. Every other process has brought the Palestinians and Israelis to the table as equals,' said Schanzer. "The Trump team will do no such thing."

"What we are seeing is a dynamic that is reflective of the actual dynamic on the ground--one in which the Israelis have significant power and assets, and the Palestinians do not. This will be the starting point in these negotiations. We will soon find out whether this is a successful strategy."

However, al-Omari believes that while a new approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be "welcome" if it takes core issues like Jerusalem and refugees "off the table," then that could doom any prospects it might have.

"Such an approach is bound to be robustly opposed not only by the Palestinians," he said, "but also by various Arab states, including U.S. allies such as Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia."

The Mainstream Media Boldly Declares You Will Be Microchipped

At one time, the notion that the general population would be microchipped someday was a "conspiracy theory", but now the mainstream media is coming right out and telling us that we will all get chipped.  It is almost as if they are trying to mentally condition us to accept what is coming.

Of course it is being portrayed as "cool" and "trendy", and a lot of people will be fooled by that.  But if someday "identity chips" are required for the entire population, the potential for tyranny would be off the charts.
Unfortunately, some sort of permanent digital identification is increasingly being pushed as the solution to problems such as identity theft, tax evasion, illegal immigration and money laundering.  And tech companies would love to have a universal way to confirm the identities of individuals on the Internet.  But very few people are talking about the dark side of this technology, and that is a very frightening thing.

Earlier this month, USA Today published an article entitled "You will get chipped -- eventually".  The following is a short excerpt...

You will get chipped. It's just a matter of time.

In the aftermath of a Wisconsin firm embedding microchips in employees last week to ditch company badges and corporate logons, the Internet has entered into full-throated debate.

No, I will not ever be microchipped.

But how many others feel the same way?

Obviously societal attitudes are changing, and a professor interviewed by USA Today is quite confident that it "will happen to everybody"...

"It will happen to everybody," says Noelle Chesley, 49, associate professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. "But not this year, and not in 2018. Maybe not my generation, but certainly that of my kids."

Initially, implantable microchips will be touted as the wave of the future.  We will be told that they will make our lives so much easier and more convenient, and the USA Today article made a big deal of that...
This would go beyond paying with your smartphone. Instead, chipped customers would simply wave their hands in lieu of Apple Pay and other mobile-payment systems.

The benefits don't stop there. In the future, consumers could zip through airport scanners sans passport or drivers license; open doors; start cars; and operate home automation systems. All of it, if the technology pans out, with the simple wave of a hand.

For a long time I have warned that this was coming, and some people are already willingly microchipping themselves.

For example, a self-declared "cyborg" in Canada named Russ Foxx has embedded multiple microchips into various areas of his body...

Canadian Russ Foxx, 36, has had over 100 body alterations ranging from ultraviolet tattoos to silicon horns implanted into his forehead.

The body modification artist recently showcased some of the many uses for the chips that lie under his skin - including the ability to unlock a hand-made wooden concealment table 'hands free'.

While the modifications are extreme, Mr Foxx says 'anyone who carries keys' could benefit from the chip implants - which are no larger than a grain of rice.

Foxx says that the process of implanting the chips is easy and relatively painless...

The process of implanting the self-installed RFID (radio frequency identification) and NFC (near-field communication) transponders takes just a few seconds.

According to Mr Foxx, who is from Vancouver, Canada, the surgery is painless as the implants are just 2mm by 12mm in size.

Of course Foxx is far from alone.
Thousands of other tech enthusiasts around the globe are chipping themselves, and there is even a company in the U.S. that has sold tens of thousands of these chips...

In Sweden, BioHax says nearly 3,000 customers have had its chip embedded to do many things, including ride the national rail system without having to show the conductor a ticket.

In the U.S., Dangerous Things, a Seattle-based firm, says it has sold "tens of thousands" of chips to consumers via its website. The chip and installation cost about $200.

After years of being a subculture, "the time is now" for chips to be more commonly used, says Amal Graafstra, founder of Dangerous Things. "We're going to start to see chip implants get the same realm of acceptance as piercings and tattoos do now."

What in the world is happening to us?

Our culture is rapidly being transformed, and the world of tomorrow is going to be a very strange place indeed...
