Planned Parenthood wants you to stay home on election day

Tell the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Sign the petition here.
October 31, 2018 (Life Issues Institute) – Elections have consequences. Pro-abortion activists know that full well after the election of President Trump. His efforts to advocate on behalf of America's most vulnerable citizens – unborn babies – have eclipsed those of any previous president in our nation's history.
The election of pro-life governors and state legislatures has resulted in over 600 pro-life laws enacted during the last nine years.
Planned Parenthood knows that its federal funding is in jeopardy as long as pro-lifers control the House and Senate. That's why they're investing $20 million to gain control of Congress. This threat is real.
But pro-lifers aren't resting on their laurels. Life Issues Institute is utilizing all of its resources to educate Americans on the importance of this election and to vote pro-life. Our daily radio commentary, Life Issues, heard on nearly 1,200 stations in all 50 states, is alerting listeners to the importance of this election. And we're engaging with Americans on our various social media platforms and websites.
Pro-life motivation and mobilization are essential to winning hearts and minds.
Toward that end, we've created a series of pro-life educational quizzes on our mobile app Life Impact – a joint effort with Susan B. Anthony List (SBA). Join us there.
We are proud to be part of the SBA family, which is leading the way in impacting key races for life. They've targeted the states of Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Arizona and West Virginia. They've also mobilized ground troops to visit two million households in these states to turn out pro-life voters.
If Planned Parenthood succeeds in controlling the Senate, President Trump's efforts to confirm judges who won't legislate from the bench will be paralyzed on all levels of the judiciary, the Supreme Court, Appellate Courts and District Courts. And our hope of passing life-saving legislation will end.
Elections are crucial, and November 6th is no different. The lives of countless unborn babies depend upon your vote. It's absolutely vital that you identify where your candidates stand on LIFE and vote. Absolutely vital!
In my 43 years of pro-life advocacy I've never seen such advancement during the past two years for the babies and their mothers! Never. But that momentum is now jeopardized by those who profit financially off the blood of innocent babies.
If you do only one thing for the babies this year (and I hope you do many more) it would be to vote pro-life on November 6th. Yes, it's that important!
We can't match the dollars of the well-funded abortion industry and its fellow cronies. But we can activate our grassroots networks to turn out the vote.

Even ‘sex change’ surgeons now expressing doubt about transgenderism

October 31, 2018 (Family Research Council) – Dr. Miroslav Djordjevic is not your normal physician. He came to fame more than two decades ago, making a name for himself as one of the world's premiere genital reconstruction surgeons. After years of helping men and women transition into a body they weren't born with, he's started to realize something: the procedure called sex reassignment surgery isn't making patients happy. Beyond the transgender flag-waving and pride-marching are real people in real pain. And according to doctors like Djordjevic, they're struggling, but their struggle is with something the media or LGBT activists don't want to admit.
Over the last five years, in particular, Dr. Djordjevic says he's been overwhelmed by the number of people who've approached him about reversing their procedure. The surgery that they thought would bring them the satisfaction they were looking for only plunged them into deeper despair. A growing number of them, he tells Canada's National Post, were miserable. Six people, he says, made appointments to undo a procedure that's not only excruciatingly painful – but expensive. "They came from countries all over the Western world, Britain included, united by an acute sense of regret."
The majority, he points out, were men who'd undergone surgery to transition into women. When he told them that "reattaching the male genitalia" is a complex and excruciating procedure that would take several operations and thousands of dollars, they didn't blink. They told him about "crippling levels of depression" with intense suicidal thoughts. "It can be a real disaster to hear these stories," he says. "And yet," the doctor points out, "they are not being heard."
When other doctors and advocates started demanding more research into the effects of sexual reassignment surgery, they were ignored. The medical community and universities that would normally study these things were too afraid of the transgender lobby. In England, Bath Spa University turned down an application for research on the remorse Djordjevic is encountering and school officials refused to touch it. It's "potentially politically incorrect," they insisted. "Definitely reversal surgery and regret in transgender persons is one of the very hot topics," Djordjevic says. But as doctors – especially as doctors – "we have to support all research in this field."
One of his biggest concerns – and others' – is that there's such a rush into surgery. These days, he explains, the men and women in his field either don't want to seem intolerant or they just want the money, but there seems to be a real lack of psychiatric evaluation and counseling. Even worse, Djordjevic points out, they're advocating this surgery for younger and younger children. It's a mistake, he insists. And research bears that out. Our friends at the American College of Pediatricians, who've labeled this ideology "child abuse," point out just how absurd that agenda would be. "According to the DSM-5, as many as 98 percent of gender confused boys and 88 percent of gender confused girls eventually accept their biological sex after naturally passing through puberty."
FRC's Peter Sprigg thinks it's even more significant that a doctor who performs these surgeries has concerns.
The rush to transition on the part of many with gender dysphoria – especially minors – and their medical enablers can only have tragic consequences. Even the American Psychiatric Association acknowledges that among children with gender dysphoria, the majority do not grow up to identify as 'transgender' if left to themselves. People who are wrestling with gender identity issues need to understand that 'transition' is not a panacea and could be disastrous, so they should not be rushed into such a radical response.
What people need more than anything is the help that too many states want to deny them: the advice and comfort of a qualified therapist. So many of these issues are emotional and mental, argues Walt Heyer, who formerly identified as transgender. In a 2009 study by the Department of Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University, researchers found that most of the people struggling in this lifestyle – 90 percent – "had at least one other significant form of psychopathology." Even in a liberal country like Sweden, even after receiving the surgery they seek, the suicide rate of people who identify as transgender is 19 times higher than the general population. LGBT activists want you to believe that the humane response is encouraging and affirming these feelings. But affirming dangerous and destructive ideas is not compassion. Real compassion is helping people find their way to freedom and fulfillment which comes by knowing the truth.
President Trump, meanwhile, has been maligned, criticized, and harassed for trying to move our country away from this radical ideology that keeps people who identify as transgender in bondage. When he is working to roll back Barack Obama's radical definition of "sex" (which included "gender identity"), actor Bradley Whitford tweeted: "This is obscene. This must not stand. This is, and I use this word intentionally, what the Nazis did. Otherization, vilification, and exclusion of vulnerable minorities." We've gone so far, conservative Brent Bozell fired back, that "Calling a man a man is now the Holocaust."
In the end, the hysteria from many on the Left only proves one thing: they don't care about people. Not really. They care about their agenda. And just like the women they nudge into abortions – without a thought to the pain or consequences – they'll do anything to protect it. That's not tolerance – it's manipulation. And for the sake of human dignity, it's time to rise up and say: "Enough!"
For more on what the Trump administration is actually doing on the issue (hint: it's not erasing people!), check out Peter Sprigg's op-ed in the Washington Examiner, "Trump Transgender Policy Is Simple and Scientific: 'Sex' Means Biological Sex." Also, take the time to read through FRC's publication, "Understanding and Responding to the Transgender Movement."

Narcissistic prayer composed by LGBT activist Fr. James Martin sent to Catholics in mass mailing

Tell Pope Francis to remove Fr. Martin as an adviser to the Vatican! Sign the petition here
October 31, 2018 (LifeSiteNews.com) – America magazine has sent out a mass mailing containing a prayer composed by its “editor-at large,” LGBT activist Fr. James Martin, which captures so well the narcissistic pseudo-spirituality that sadly is plaguing so many among Catholic clergy today.
The prayer, taken from Martin’s homosexualist book “Building a Bridge,” reads like one that could have been composed by the Saturday Night Live Character, “Stuart Smalley,” who famously stared at a mirror and said to himself, “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me.”
The title of Martin’s “Stuart Smalley prayer” is “A Prayer for When I Feel Rejected,” which feeds Martin’s narrative about the Catholic Church “rejecting” practicing homosexuals, rather than “welcoming them,” when it condemns the sin of sodomy. Martin claims that homosexual orientation is given to people by God, says that the Church’s condemnation of homosexual behavior isn’t “authoritative,” and advocates eliminating expressions of Catholic doctrine on the intrinsically disordered nature of homosexual attraction.
The prayer begins like the prayer of the Pharisee in the eighteenth chapter of Luke, thanking God for making him so good, while a publican praying next to him asks for mercy for his sins – something Martin’s prayer never mentions.
“Loving God, you made me who I am. I praise you and I love you, for I am wonderfully made, in your own image,” Martin begins. “But when people make fun of me, I feel hurt and embarrassed and even ashamed. So Please, God, help me remember my own goodness, which lies in you.”
The prayer appears to refer to Martin’s blasphemous doctrine that claims that God makes people homosexual, as if the Creator would design a person to be attracted to behavior that is intrinsically immoral and self-destructive.
“Help me remember my dignity, which you gave me when I was conceived. Help me to remember that I can live a life of love, because you created my heart.”
He then goes on to compare the suffering of “LGBT” people who are “outcasts” in society with the rejection of Jesus himself.
“And God, help me remember that Jesus loves me. For he too was seen as an outcast. He too was misunderstood. He too was beaten and spat upon. Jesus understands me and loves me with a special love, because of the way you made me.”
Martin repeats the myth, propagated incessantly by LGBT ideologues, that Jesus “welcomed” everyone, no matter what. In reality, he welcomed sinners precisely so that he could teach them to repent of their misbehavior and find hope of forgiveness through his ministry – themes virtually unknown in Martin’s writings and public statements.
“And when I’m feeling lonely, help me remember that Jesus welcomed everyone as a friend. Jesus reminded everyone that God loved them. Jesus encouraged everyone to embrace their dignity even when others were blind to that dignity,” Martin writes.
A second prayer included in the America mailing is one that speaks to God in a sarcastic and flippant way, stating, “God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, which is pretty much everyone, because I’m clearly not you, God. At least not the last time I checked. And while you’re at it, God, please give me the courage to change what I need to change about myself...”

Mailing sent to Catholic reform activist Michael Hichborn

Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute, was sent the mailing by America magazine, despite the fact that Martin has tried to get his organization removed from Facebook and Twitter.
“First, Fr. James Martin, SJ tried to get the Lepanto Institute banned from Facebook and twitter. Now, he’s spamming my mailbox,” commented Hichborn on his Facebook page. “Contained in this mailing is a ‘prayer book’ with two of the most cringeworthy, narcissistic ‘prayers’ I have ever read. And I’ve seen some pretty insipid stuff.”
“As a researcher and analyst, I always make sure to keep an eye on what the enemies of the Church are saying, which is why I opened the mailer (from America magazine, featuring Fr. James Martin, SJ),” Hichborn told LifeSiteNews in a separate interview. “As I read the prayer booklet, my initial reaction was to roll my eyes at the cringeworthy wording. But as I thought about what the prayer was saying, it dawned on me Fr. Martin was implying that God is a homosexual.”
“Think about it. First, the prayer (which was written specifically for homosexuals) says, ‘Loving God, you made me who I am.’ Given that this was written for homosexuals, one can only conclude that Fr. Martin is suggesting that homosexuals were created as homosexuals. He is identifying the person with their disordered sexual attraction, speaking to the nature of the person as a homosexual. He then says, ‘I am wonderfully made in your own image,’ which clearly implies that God is a homosexual. If God made a homosexual as a homosexual by nature, and said homosexual is made in the image of God, then this can only mean that the image of God as a homosexual comes from a homosexual God.”
“This prayer is deeply perverse in its theological implications on many levels, and is to be condemned,” added Hichborn.

Martin attacks Catholic doctrine on homosexuality with impunity

The Catholic Church, following the words of Scripture and its constant, 2,000-year tradition, teaches that homosexual acts are gravely immoral, constituting a sin worthy of eternal punishment in hell, although like all sins it may be forgiven by God to those who repent of them and confess them with a firm purpose of amendment in the sacrament of penance.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’ They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.”
The Church seeks to help those suffering from same-sex attraction to cease from their self-destructive behavior and to find healing and peace in Christ. James Martin’s constant attacks on Catholic sexual morality are not acts of charity or kindness, but express a moral indifference that harms the very people he claims to support.
His superiors, up to now, have done nothing to stop Martin from his campaign of moral subversion. He has been rewarded for his behavior by an appointment as an communications consultant for the Vatican. He continues to tour the U.S. giving talks that undermine Catholic doctrine on homosexuality with impunity.
