Lawmakers draw line in light of transgender push

On Tuesday, Dec. 15, Hungary adopted amendments to its constitution aimed at protecting children from the irreversible and damaging effects of transgenderism as well as being raised without opposite-sex parents.
The change was meant to strengthen the legal standing of the natural, heterosexual family and of the innate biological reality of the two sexes. Further, it aims to emphasize the Christian basis of Hungary's culture and the government's commitment to that culture's preservation and propagation.

The move — the ninth time the current Hungarian constitution has been amended since its adoption in 2011 — was made in response to promotion of ideologies in favor of homosexual relationships and "transgender identity" by the European Union, countries of Western Europe and the United States.
Most stipulations of the amendment would have been uncontroversial even 25 years ago but are now (in an ironically Orwellian use of language) being tarred as an effort to "redefine the family" through their insistence that the "family is based on marriage and the parent-child relation" and that "the mother is a woman, the father a man."
Though you'd never guess it from most media reports, the amendment is not part of a crackdown against homosexual relationships by the Hungarian government. It is actually part of public policy that not only allows homosexual relationships but positively sanctions them in the form of civil unions — placing Hungarian law further to the left on the issue than the American Democratic Party was during the presidency of Bill Clinton and approximating the position taken by Barack Obama in his 2008 presidential campaign.
Regardless of what any of us might think about such a set of laws, the simple fact is that it would be hard to conceive of one that is more oriented towards "gay rights" while still recognizing the uniqueness and cultural necessity of a permanent union between two people possessing the complementary biological organs needed for natural procreation of the children who are that union's primary end.
Even a change the amendment introduced into Hungarian adoption law does not represent a substantial shift. Previously it was possible for heterosexual couples and single persons to adopt through ordinary processes. Now those who are single must go through a special process to obtain government approval as prospective adoptive parents, a process intended to ensure that those seeking to adopt really are single and not — as was sometimes the case — fraudulently claiming to be single while living in homosexual relationships.
Leftist opposition to the amendment's stipulations concerning marriage cannot, therefore, be grounded in any evidence that those in homosexual relationships will be prevented from living their lives as they want provided their lives really don’t impact the lives of others — others such as the children some homosexuals wish to adopt.
Leftist opposition can only be based either in profound ignorance of Hungarian law or disagreement with the Hungarian government's embrace of so-called hetero-normative beliefs — accepting heterosexual monogamous marriage as the normative context for sexual relationships and preferable environment in which to raise children. Combining legal sanctioning of homosexual relationships with official discouragement of them, or even treating them as good but second-rate, is now considered intolerable by many.

The real focus of the amendment does not, however, concern the homosexual relationships of adults. It concerns the well-being of children, whose healthy development the Hungarian government recognizes cannot take place in a context of "liberation" from either the "confining" structures of the heterosexual family or of the biological sex with which they are born.
Rather than subject children to ideologies favoring embrace of a destructive "total freedom" to "self-create" one's own identity, the amendment assures "a child's right to self-identity in line with their gender at birth in order to protect the child from mental or biological intervention affecting their physical or mental well-being."
Put simply, neither rebellious teenagers nor young children who one day wish to become firemen when they grow up and on the next day wish to be doctors will be encouraged to "transition." They will be encouraged to accept that the sex they were born with is a biological fact beyond their control and will not be allowed to undergo surgery, whose long-term implications they cannot begin to appreciate, or in some cases even understand.

NEWS: CAMPAIGN 2020, COMMENTARY

The color of revolution

Popular responses to American culture and politics move at the speed of social media news, involving several prominent ledes per day, during "peak" times. Fittingly, the recent American memory has contracted such as to accommodate and contextualize these rapid-fire ledes, one at a time. In a word, the sheer volume of interesting news works against the American patriot's ability to yield — or even to formulate — a meaningful response to its call.
We've been conditioned to forget as soon as they opportunely drop a new story on us.
Since Nov. 3, the blistering new pace of it all has been weaponized — even further — against the American memory in a frighteningly specific way: This autumn, it involved the repeated use of a certain term, up to a precise juncture, after which it was deliberately vanished from virtually all recollection.

We awoke on Nov. 4 to find we are denizens of the age of "color revolution," a real-world psychological operation which U.S. intelligence agencies have occasionally used to decide the winners of elections in South America and Eastern Europe. Evidently, they decided to use color revolution domestically to oust President Trump from office.
As described on the podcast Rules for Retrogrades by former Trump senior security official Michael Anton, a color revolution can effectively determine the outcome of an election (i.e., making the loser "win") through the combined use of: systematic electoral ballot fraud — point-padding and point-shaving; airtight collusion between politicians and media companies silencing all meaningful dissent; most importantly, a thoroughgoing narrative before, during and after election night.
If these three conditions are met, color revolutions succeed with stultifying efficacy. Sound familiar yet? The third prong makes the whole thing work. Most conservatives already know all about the first two prongs. But the narrative prong is what most folks — even suspicious ones — miss in color revolutions.
In the American color revolution of late 2020, the term "red mirage" proves, in retrospect, to be the keystone, hidden in plain sight, like Edgar Allan Poe's "purloined letter," nakedly propped on the mantle as every nook and cranny of the home is furiously searched for it. Its planners — presumably friends of those openly saying before the election that Biden should not concede "under any circumstances" — preempted election night by saying that there would be a "red mirage." They defined the phenomenon they guaranteed as an early electoral lead by Trump in the six battleground states, which they claimed to know would later vanish like a mirage. In a way, they did know it: Trump's lead would vanish, but not because of mail-in votes. They knew it because they trusted the unfailing efficacy of the unannounced part of what they had planned: cheating.
Think of it like this: You are the inferior bowling team (i.e., Joe Biden), the Blue Team, vastly outmatched by a much better team (i.e., Donald Trump), the Red Team, to be played in one month's time. Assume you are 100% willing to cheat and you have organizational/administrative access to the scorekeeping apparatus sufficient to "cover the spread" in Red Team's prospective lead. Assume that during this entire month you plan to cheat after the sixth frame, at which moment onward, each point you score will be tabulated 1.33 and each point your opponent scores will be worth, conversely, .667. In other words, your cheating software — and other various fail-safes we might analogize — has prepared you for virtually all contingencies.
Nevertheless, you must spend the month leading to game day crafting a narrative that explains to viewers why your fate reversed so decisively in the final 40% of the game. This is where sheer volume and disciplined repetition spell "color revolution": You must spend the month repeating ad nauseam that America's bowling fans should expect a "red mirage" in the first six frames on account of some boring technicality: "Red will jump out front to an ultimately meaningless lead."
Fabricate the justification for red mirage out of thin air: old injuries on Team Blue which cause slow starts, barometric pressure differentials in Blue's practice facility, global warming, the cosmic microwave background radiation, etc. Who cares what it is. Just repeat it on all six major bowling news networks — which you own — and repeat it nonstop. Spell it out for both the more and the less literate. Americans will believe anything if you repeat it on all six major bowling networks. Even tepid conservatives will bend the knee to obvious media lies if the media outlets stick religiously to their script. ("Those are the rules," they'll tell you, even if one side cheated.) But such repetition must be ubiquitous and unfailing, or else none of it works.
Game day arrives. Things work out predictably: Since your Blue Team is the clearly worse team, you fall way behind, just as you foresaw. You call a time-out (or whatever they do in bowling) after six frames and each party has his cue activated. It's a turkey shoot. Each man knows his job and does it. You have the technological advantage as well as the narrative advantage because you've preconceived and pre-sold the game script for the past month. Blue Team "wins" the last four frames decisively, and the day after the bowling contest — which is Nov. 4 — all six major media outlets recur to "red mirage" one last time to cover the explanatory gap.
Beginning on Nov. 5, by widespread agreement on the six bowling networks, no one will ever utter the term again because its subtlety is abjectly deprived ex post, now that certain less gullible bowling viewers are scratching their heads in wonderment. Ex ante, even the shrewdest bowling fans shrugged their shoulders at the media's insistence that Red Team would enjoy such a strong start. Now, if you remain mum, all that anyone really recalls is that the media "predicted" quite well what happened on Nov. 3.
So there you have it.
In closing, the benefits of expectation management and narrative control by cheaters are undeniable: Critical allusion (by Red Team's fans) to the strangeness of the "comeback" by Team Blue is all but precluded before game day. (After all, how many Trump fans have you even heard lamenting the unlikely comeback defeat?!) "Well, this is what they said would happen, and we dared to hope against hope that it wouldn't eventuate," Team Red's fans admit shamefully to themselves.
Understanding that red is the color of the 11/3/20 color revolution is tantamount to understanding the reality of large comebacks in sports; they rarely happen for a reason. Decisive early leads usually indicate what they seem to. We won. Hang tough.

'Eucharistic Miracles' aims for June 2021 debut

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (ChurchMilitant.com) - A trio of creative Catholic laymen is powering on to bring one of Christianity's greatest mysteries — Eucharistic Miracles — to the big screen by mid-2021.

The film's director, Angelo Libutti, is appealing to the faithful to help in producing what promises to be a first-class, Hollywood-style documentary about eucharistic miracles. It is scheduled for release on June 3, 2021 — Corpus Christi Sunday.
Libutti is collaborating on the project with Ray Grijalba, CEO of The Joy of the Faith, and Austin Kelly, CEO of Christian Channel. Having passed the midpoint of their fundraising goal, the group has released a promotional video to publicize their efforts.
Libutti, a storyboard artist and member of several Oscar-winning teams, explained to Church Militant: "First we need many prayers and fasting because definitely, Christ's enemy is trying to obstruct this project, big-time."
"This is a chance for all of us to give glory to God in a movie that can be our 'love letter' of thanks for what Jesus did for us by becoming a man and by taking our sins upon Himself," he said.
"As a great theologian beautifully said, 'Christ paid a debt He didn't own, because we had a debt we couldn't pay,'" Libutti added.
Financial Need Outlined
The director explained how Catholics can help crowdfund the enterprise and bring it to fruition by visiting the crowdfunding page. Contributions can be made at any level — each level coming with attractive perks — but Libutti points out that a contribution of $1,000 gets the contributor listed in the credits for the film.
He detailed the situation the trio is now facing:
The budget we put together is super tight ... none of us gets paid. I'm working 24/7 wearing many hats to keep the costs low ... and we can't expect everyone to love the Eucharist as we do. Fortunately a few theologians approached us with the same love and zeal. But for making this movie good we need all the help from all our Christian Catholic brothers and sisters who share this love and zeal for the biggest gift Christ gave us — Himself in the Holy Eucharist.
Libutti insisted that obstacles his team has already encountered — including snowstorms, emergency surgeries and participants suffering from COVID — will not stand in their way, nor impede their search for a first-rate actor to portray Jesus. They are also hiring translators to present the movie in many languages to maximize its impact.
"It's a big task, and that's why we need the strong believers to support us. It's a work that cannot be done by the Church hierarchy or with the Church involved because they've lost touch with what the laypeople need," Libutti told Church Militant last fall. "They don't recognize their sheep anymore or their needs and are feeding them dry grass — in areas surrounded by wolves."
Libutti also spoke to how the historic film seeks to address the need his audience has for God and tradition. He said:
As a filmmaker, I need to create something for my audience first, to hear their desire for God and use God-given talents and experiences for them. If I don't spend time with them, and I don't hear their frustration and needs, I will never be able to please their inner spiritual life.
Our audience represents a generation that grew up watching action movies and video games, but at the same time, they have an inner desire for tradition. This is easily seen in how many teens love to listen to classical music or are attracted to filmmaking. This is essential — to know how to translate the message into a movie and to find the right balance to please younger and older generations.
"We can no longer wait for someone else to step up," Libutti declared. "We invite Catholics and non-Catholics to help us create a universal documentary about the Real Presence."
"Let's make the Holy Eucharist great in all people's eyes again," he added. "Corpus Christi Sunday is just five months away!"
