Nancy Pelosi Claims Her Sweeping New Socialist Laws Are About “Building Back Better”

(FreedomBeacon.com)- On Tuesday, after intimidating and threatening the ten moderate Democrat hold-outs, Speaker Nancy Pelosi was able to shove the monstrous $3.5 trillion faux infrastructure bill over the first hurdle, clearing the way for a vote on the single largest spending bill in history.

The budget resolution vote passed 220 to 212, laying the groundwork for the Democrats to ram the yet-to-be-written “human infrastructure” bill through to a final vote.

The budget resolution was passed using a fast-track process with Democrats attaching it to a rule allowing the $3.5 trillion bill, along with the John Lewis “voting rights” bill and the so-called bipartisan infrastructure bill to be “deemed and passed.” This expedited approach allowed members to avoid taking a record vote on any stand-alone bill.

In her speech praising her underhanded scheme, Pelosi boasted that passing using this rule “paves the way for the Building Back Better plan.”

Apparently she was referring to Biden’s “Build Back Better” slogan.

Pelosi gushed that crippling the American people with onerous spending and taxes during an economic crisis and persistent inflation would “stand for generations alongside the New Deal and the Great Society.”

Pelosi went so far as to claim that if Congress did not pass this expedited scheme it would threaten “the Build Back Better plan, as well as voting rights reform, as well as the bipartisan infrastructure bill.”

Of course passing this threatens the entire country because passing these three bills will add trillions to the national debt and completely undermine the integrity and security of elections.

But that’s a feature, not a bug.

For Pelosi “Build Back Better” isn’t about the country; it’s about the Democrat Party.

The only thing she wants to “build” is permanent Democrat power.

And she doesn’t care how she gets it.

One of the moderate Democrats Pelosi strong-armed to vote for this monstrosity reportedly told the Republican members that the Democrats’ whipping strategy included threatening to target their seats during the redistricting process. One moderate Democrat was told a “no” vote on this rule would result in a relative losing his or her current job in the Biden administration.

But remember, folks. Nancy is doing this “for the people.”

Both the “bipartisan” bill and the absurd $3.5 trillion “infrastructure” bill now go into the reconciliation process with the Senate and are expected to get a final vote in October.

Kamala Harris Claims She Brought Up Human Rights Abuses In Asia

Kamala Harris Claims She Brought Up Human Rights Abuses In Asia

(FreedomBeacon.com)- Vice President Kamala Harris wants you to know she’s working hard, and finally, she’s thought to tackle some issues that Americans actually think need tackling.
After abandoning her failed efforts to secure the southern border by talking to Southern American leaders – a tactic everybody knew would never work – Harris jetted off to Asia for a week where she tried to sound tough on China.

Speaking to reporters in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Thursday, Harris said that she is “not going to shy away from difficult conversations.”

It’s kind of ironic that President Joe Biden was shying away from tough decisions about Afghanistan that very week…

Harris went on to say that there must be difficult conversations and America’s partnership with Vietnam must be maintained, indicating that the U.S. federal government might do more to take on China, as well as human rights abuses going on in other parts of Asia.

We’ll see.

Harris was asked by reporters whether she had received any commitments to release Vietnamese dissidents, but she could only say that she has so far had discussions with Vietnamese government officials and civil society leaders in the country.

Harris’ trip to Vietnam was the second stop during her week-long Asia trip. She had previously met with government officials in Singapore.

Harris confirmed America’s support for Vietnam over ongoing tensions with Beijing and committed U.S. military resources to help Vietnam build its Naval capabilities as China expands into the South China Sea.

This is evidently one big push to make Harris more palatable to people who want to see American leadership on China, but perhaps Harris would have greater success by actually doing something to secure America’s borders instead…

The Arc of Antisemitism in America As we approach the High Holidays, a time in Jewish life for contemplation, I think about the current challenges we face from the perspective of those fifty years spent in the fight against hate

Editor’s note: This is longer than the usual ADL email. But it’s worth it to cover 50 fascinating years of insights into the good fight, so please read on!

Dear carl,

I recently celebrated my fiftieth anniversary at ADL. It has been a blessing to spend my entire adult life working to combat antisemitism, to protect the Jewish people and to seek justice for all. I am very grateful to my colleagues over the decades, and to you as part of the larger ADL community that is helping me to keep making a difference every day.

Kenneth Jacobson

When I joined ADL, I was a student working towards my doctorate in history. I decided to take a break from working on my dissertation to spend a year in ADL’s research department. Famous last words. Fifty years later, here I am. But in an amazing moment just weeks ago, I was floored when the President of Yeshiva U. joined an ADL meeting to let me know I would be receiving an honorary doctorate. This would in a way complete the circle for the academic work I set aside all those years ago. I was so moved that my colleagues put that honor in motion.

My Most Memorable Moments

In my fifty years at ADL I have experienced so many compelling moments. Here are just a few that still stand out years, and even decades, later:

When I was a young ADL staffer in 1979, I had the privilege to go to Andrews Air Force base in DC with ADL’s then-National Director, Benjamin Epstein, to join a small group who, in the middle of a foggy night, welcomed back President Jimmy Carter from his trip to seal the historic peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. What a thrill for a staffer who was heavily involved in Israel-related issues!

Many years later, while leading missions to encourage American leaders to speak out against anti-Zionist efforts, I escorted a group of editors of college newspapers to Auschwitz. We ended our visit at the infamous railroad tracks there. We saw a contingent of Israeli officers conducting a ceremony. The lead officer was speaking in Hebrew, and all these years later I still recall his remarks. He talked of all the medical discoveries, scientific breakthroughs and great literature that never happened because of what took place in Auschwitz. He concluded that the best revenge for Auschwitz was to build a healthy democracy in Israel. The young college editors couldn’t understand why at that moment I broke down in tears.

These and many, many other experiences are why I have such gratitude to ADL for giving me these opportunities.

The Arc of Antisemitism in America

As we approach the High Holidays, a time in Jewish life for contemplation, I think about the current challenges we face from the perspective of those fifty years spent in the fight against hate.

When I started at ADL in the 1970’s, the Jewish community in the United States had just emerged from a period of unofficial but nevertheless institutional antisemitism... quotas at major universities, glass ceilings and more in major industries, and secret covenants barring Jews from certain neighborhoods. ADL played a significant role in shining a spotlight on the problem and pushing for legal, institutional and societal remedies. The resolution of these issues opened up an incomparable period for American Jews.

From then until well into this century, Jews enjoyed the most comfortable life of any Jewish community in the world and, one can argue, in the 2000-year history of the Jewish diaspora.

This, of course, did not mean that everything was perfect. ADL polling consistently showed that tens of millions of Americans harbored antisemitic stereotypes, we tracked antisemitic incidents each year and the “new antisemitism” emerged: the delegitimization of Israel, often as a cover for attacking Jews.

In recent years, things have changed for the worse. Just this week, the latest FBI hate crimes data showed that hate crimes targeting the Jewish community made up nearly 60 percent of all religion-based hate crimes, and our annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents has tracked historically high levels in the past several years.

Social media has become the new ingredient in the spreading of this age-old hatred. The pernicious effect of online hate is intersecting with the extreme polarization of society to make now a challenging time in ways unlike any I have experienced in my fifty years at ADL.

There are no magic bullets in addressing these challenges, but a good beginning is trying to reduce the partisanship that has so poisoned the atmosphere.

My test for evaluating whether leaders are serious in fighting antisemitism is whether they are ready to do so when it comes from their own party, their own community, their own ideology. It’s easy to condemn the other side.

A Time for Hope and Resolve

Finally, it is important to remember there is still much good to celebrate. Jews remain free in America to pursue their personal goals. Support by allies from other communities in the face of antisemitism has been unwavering. And despite the anti-Israel rhetoric that is flourishing, there is positive recognition of the trend of Arab states normalizing relations with the Jewish state.

ADL has a unique role in making things better. I have loved working for this organization because we have always addressed the many challenges that we face, both by identifying sources of hatred and by taking action to bring positive change.

Shana Tova, and thank you for being part of the ADL community with me.

Sincerely,

Japan found black particles contaminating a vial of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine marking the fourth time in the last week that shots were suspended, Reuters reported.

Japan suspended 1.63 million doses of Moderna’s vaccine on Aug. 25 following contamination reports, according to Reuters. The company said manufacturing issues caused the contamination, and European safety regulators have launched an investigation.

The Kanagawa prefecture said Takeda Pharmaceutical, the vaccine’s domestic distributor, collected all remaining contaminated vaccines, according to Reuters. The shots were administered to about 3,790 people before contaminations were reported, but no one has been harmed. (RELATED: Moderna CEO Says Booster Shot Could Cause 42 Times Increase In Antibodies)

Other batches of Moderna’s vaccines were suspended this week in the prefecture after foreign particles were found in the vials. The contamination was mostly due to parts of the vial’s stopper breaking off and falling into the vaccination.

“The most probable cause of the particulates identified in lot 3004667 is related to friction between two pieces of metal installed in the stoppering module of the production line due to an incorrect setup,” Moderna told the Daily Caller News Foundation via email. “It is believed that this condition occurred during the assembling of the line prior to production of batch 3004667 and was a result of improper alignment during a like changeover before starting this batch.”

Moderna said that traces of stainless steel particles were found in the vaccine, but the traces don’t pose a risk to patients. More than 200 million doses of the Moderna vaccine have been administered to more than 110 million patients in 45 different countries, the company said.

Japan reported 146,740 COVID cases and 357 deaths this week, according to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine. Roughly 46% of the population is fully vaccinated.
