Born to the king of Poland in 1458, Casimir developed a strong devotion to the Lord at a young age and rejected the luxurious court life, opting instead for a strict asceticism that included sleeping on the floor and staying awake all night meditating on the death of Christ. Casimir ruled over Poland in place of his father from 1481 to 1483 before dying from Tuberculosis in 1484.
