‘I didn’t watch a single second’: ‘The View’ co-hosts struggle to comprehend Trump’s return to power

Daily Caller News Foundation

“The View” co-hosts visibly struggled on Tuesday to comprehend President Donald Trump’s return to the Oval Office.

At the start of the segment, the co-hosts could barely bring themselves to say that Trump had been sworn in as the 47th president the day before, with co-host Ana Navarro declaring that it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Navarro and co-host Sunny Hostin admitted to not watching the inauguration ceremony or the president’s speech.

Joy Behar said she watched the entire speech, sarcastically claiming that part of her enjoyed what she implied was a painful experience.

“What better way to unify the country than ripping families apart and punishing anyone who doesn’t fall in line? So, I watched the whole thing because I have a certain masochistic streak in me,” Behar said.

“I watched it, just the speech part. A lot of the revelry, it was hard because this is not someone I voted for, so I didn’t feel like sitting around and watching it,” co-host Sara Haines said. “But the speech itself, I remember when it was done, my first reaction was, you know, ‘what is this country he speak of?’ Because I immediately couldn’t reconcile the way I see the country and the people and how it is right now and where he saw it. He didn’t say carnage, but he said carnage pretty much in everything else … I just kind of felt this dark feeling and then he had this kind of martyr-like, ‘you guys are downtrodden and almost irreparable’ … It had this God-like complex without any Jesus qualities.”

Haines and Behar said Trump was “merciless” to former President Joe Biden’s administration by not saying a positive word about them.

Hostin said she “decided to protect [her] peace” by celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day and not watching the inauguration, and referred to the president as a “DEI hire.”

“You’re talking about a man who didn’t become the President of the United States because of merit. He had no political experience, he had no business experience. He was given everything he has. He is a legacy hire, he is a DEI hire, a ‘didn’t earn it’ hire,” Hostin said.

Navarro said she will say a prayer for America as Trump once again retakes power.

“I was in Guatemala. I was there for a funeral which reminded me how frail life is and not to waste time on doing things that bring you no joy and make you infuriated, like watching his swearing-in,” Navarro said. “So I didn’t watch a single second of it. I did read the speech and I read a lot about it and I saw pictures. And as I was reading the speech as I was coming back, first of all, I’m gonna pray for America. I’m also going to say, you know, he calls himself a peacemaker. He wants to invade Panama, people!”

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin also said they must all accept that Trump has been “normalized” and is part of American history.

The company expects all stores to liquidate their assets and close

Joann Fabrics has once again filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and said it would try to sell the business.

“The company is seeking court approval to begin a process for the sale of substantially all of its assets under section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code, pursuant to which Gordon Brothers Retail Partners would serve as the stalking horse bidder,” the company said in a statement on its website.

A stalking horse bidder is one that would set the floor for bids for the company’s assets. The winning bid would have to equal or be higher than that.

If the sale to Gordon Brothers is ultimately completed, Gordon Brothers has indicated that it intends to pursue a liquidation of the company’s assets and conduct going-out-of-business sales at all store locations. In the meantime, Joann stores and Joann.com remain open for business.

‘Significant challenges’

“Since becoming a private company in April, the board and management team have continued to execute on top and bottom-line initiatives to manage costs and drive value,” said Michael Prendergast, Joann Fabric’s interim CEO.

“However, the last several years have presented significant and lasting challenges in the retail environment, which, coupled with our current financial position and constrained inventory levels, forced us to take this step.”

Prendergast said the board determined that beginning a court-supervised sale process would be the best route to maximizing shareholder value.

The chain that would become Joann Fabrics was founded in 1943, with a single store in Cleveland. The name was changed to Joann Fabrics in 1963. The company operates 800 stores in 49 states.

Biden Bombshell Comes Out Moments After Trump Sworn In

Joe Biden thinks everyone will believe him but we don’t. On January 20, literally minutes before handing the White House keys to Donald Trump, Joe “preemptively pardoned five family members.” Since they hadn’t been charged with anything, that makes it look a whole lot like they were guilty of something serious. Don’t mistake it for an admission of guilt or anything, Joe insists. That statement proves how demented he really is, conservatives say.

Biden family pardon

The Biden family wasn’t looking forward to holding their next reunion in a prison yard. Knowing how bad the optics are, Joe saved his final wave of the magic pen for when he was on the way out the door.

As left leaning Axios gloats, Joe “preemptively pardoned five family members on Monday, minutes before turning the office of the presidency over to Donald Trump.

Joe thinks that the American public will actually believe that the unprecedented pardons “protect his family against political attacks.” Trump has a grudge against the whole family, he insists, motivated “solely by a desire to hurt me.

The truth is that Congress was hot on the Biden family money laundering trail. They have clues leading to China, Russia, and other assorted enemies of the United States.

Hunter was previously pardoned for any crime he may have even thought about committing between 2014 and 2024. Joe’s brother James Biden had been hauled in front of more than one congressional committee to give testimony.

Joe’s other brother Frank had made a few headlines but hadn’t been tied to the family influence peddling allegations, yet. Sister Valerie has likewise evaded congressional scrutiny but her close relationship with Joe had everyone suspecting she’d be next to get a subpoena.

An extraordinary move

Joe was looking for something spectacular to leave behind as legacy. He found one, but it’s not as great as he had hoped. His entire family ends up looking a whole lot like an organized criminal enterprise.

Even the liberals were shocked at the “extraordinary move that shields members of the Biden family from any efforts by the new administration to prosecute them.

The day before he outraged conservatives by pardoning Anthony Fauci and Liz Cheney in advance of any charges.

Don’t mistake it for an admission of guilt or anything, he insists.

At the last moment, Joe signed off on another blanket pardon giving get out of jail free cards to James and Francis Biden, his sister, Valerie, and their spouses. Don’t take that as a sign of guilt or anything, though.

The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that they engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense,” Joe Biden declared in writing for the official record.

Maybe Democrats will believe that the Biden family “has been subjected to unrelenting attacks and threats, motivated solely by a desire to hurt me,” but the House Oversight Committee isn’t buying it. Neither is the Judiciary Committee. Over in the senate, Charles Grassley and several others are fuming in anger.
