ARMOR OF GOD: The Spirit’s Sword (Eph.6:17) Wes Walker May 20, 2025

ARMOR OF GOD: The Spirit’s Sword (Eph.6:17)

The same God who told us ‘blessed are the peacemakers’ puts a sword in our hand and expects us to use it.

Not the Braveheart kind of sword either. We’re talking about the get-chest-to-chest-with-the-enemy-and-brute-force-it-through-the-other-guy’s-armor kind of sword.

No, it’s not a contradiction. If we’re going to understand the fight with the enemy we CAN’T see, scripture gives us some summit-or-plummet imagery of the kind of fight we cannot possibly misunderstand.

The stakes, even if we can’t directly see them, are every bit as high.

And, like regular combat, wishing the enemy will somehow just leave you alone is not an option.

In civic life, there comes a time when a man has got to pick up his sword and fight to defend himself and those he loves. What makes us think that the spiritual battle we’ve been thrust into will be any different?

If you think you can just cheer from the bleachers like it’s a football game? Guess again. Just wait until you hear the biblical maledictions against anyone who shrinks from battle and ‘deprives’ their sword?

How much more serious, then, might the consequences be when we refuse to take up the sword of His word in our mouths?

Lionhearted: Making Young Christian Males Rowdy Biblical Men

Dear young Christian male, this book you’re about to read is meant to challenge you to your very core. Its intent is not to make you feel warm and fuzzy. Some of the chapters will upset you greatly, especially if you’re a dandy who was raised with kid gloves by a helicopter mommy.

That said, in addition to the holy introspection contained herein, this book will also shoot adrenaline into your soul. It’ll push you to be a Godly risk taker and earth shaker. A veritable Rebel With A Cause just like the Captain of Our Salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ.

If you want a feel-good book that tickles your ears and morphs you into a little Christian popinjay, this tome ain’t for you. You should put this book down and walk away from it immediately. However, if, young man, if … your motto is to give God your utmost for His highest, and you wanna live a life worthy of Christ’s death, then this book will be grist for your mill.
