Trump made the announcement in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, where he revealed that he believed both Republicans — Arizona businesswoman Karrin Taylor Robson and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) — to be “terrific people,” and he just can’t choose between them. Both candidates are running to unseat Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D).
The president initially endorsed Robson in February after she announced her campaign in response to a previous statement from Trump, where he said that she would have his support if she entered the race. Robson’s campaign announcement contained a clip of Trump’s remarks, with the narrator noting that “Karrin Taylor Robson is answering President Trump’s call.”
However, Biggs ended up announcing his own campaign for the same election. Trump has been a major fan of Biggs for some time, as he is one of the president’s most ardent supporters in Congress and serves as the chair of the House Freedom Caucus.
Facing this difficult decision, Trump finally announced in a post on April 21 that he would be endorsing both of the Republicans for the Arizona gubernatorial race.
“I like Karrin Taylor Robson of Arizona a lot, and when she asked me to Endorse her, with nobody else running, I Endorsed her, and was happy to do so,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “When Andy Biggs decided to run for Governor, quite unexpectedly, I had a problem — Two fantastic candidates, two terrific people, two wonderful champions, and it is therefore my Great Honor TO GIVE MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT TO BOTH. Either one will never let you down. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Later that evening, Robson thanked Trump for the endorsement in a post on X.
“THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT! Today, @realDonaldTrump reaffirmed what he told me in December when he urged me to run on stage: That he supports me & has fully endorsed my Arizona First campaign,” she wrote.
Biggs also thanked Trump for the endorsement in a post on X, writing: “It’s been an honor to support you and fight for your agenda since 2016. I look forward to fighting alongside you as Governor of Arizona, the greatest state in the nation!”
Several reports have indicated that Biggs is the early favorite to win the Republican primary in 2026, though some have said that he may have a tough time unseating Gov. Hobbs.
