Gary Varvel: The Trump ballroom derangement syndromeMamdani cartoon PLUS my essay: The day Satan nearly stopped God's planFOX NEWS - David Rutz: “Chelsea Clinton blasted President Donald Trump in a new op-ed for having a “disregard for history” and taking a “wrecking ball to our heritage” with his extensive White House renovations, including tearing down the East Wing to construct a new ballroom.” This is a great column by Roger Kimball at American Greatness: The Left’s Never-Ending Outrage Machine – From “No Kings” tantrums to ballroom hysteria, Democrats’ endless outrage shows the same pattern—Trump leads, they react, and outrage is all they have left. According to the polls, on November 4th, New Yorkers are expected to elect Zohran Mamdani as their next mayor. He would fail an Economics 101 class. He campaigned on raising taxes in predominantly white neighborhoods, claimed that billionaires shouldn’t exist, and, on NBC’s Meet the Press, refused to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada.” The future of the “Big Apple” is at stake. New Yorkers must recognize the danger of electing a candidate with no executive experience and a record of embracing divisive, radical ideas. This city needs a mayor who will unite its people, protect its communities and liberties, and lead with competence and conviction—not one who flirts with extremism and ideological zeal. DEVOTIONALWhen Satan nearly stopped God’s planFor 6,000 years, Satan has tried—and failed—many times to stop the promises of God from being fulfilled. One of those promises, found in Genesis 3:15, says that God would send someone who would crush the devil’s head, though the devil would “strike his heel.” We know that this “Someone” is Jesus. So, Satan set out to thwart God’s plan. After God established that the Messiah would come through the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, and King David, Satan plotted to break that line. You already know the story of Jesus’ birth—how King Herod ordered the slaughter of all male children two years old and under in Bethlehem. But God warned Joseph in a dream, and he rescued Mary and the Christ child by fleeing to Egypt. You also remember the story of Moses’ birth, when Pharaoh commanded that all Hebrew male babies be killed. Yet Moses’ mother hid him in a basket along the Nile River, where he was found and saved by Pharaoh’s daughter. But did you know that King David’s descendants were nearly wiped out? The closest Satan ever came to stopping the birth of the Messiah is recorded in 2 Kings 11:1–3 and 2 Chronicles 22:1–23:15. The Rest of the StoryGod made this promise to David:
Now, get this—in 841 B.C., Athaliah became the only female monarch ever to sit on David’s throne. She was the daughter of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel of Israel. Like her parents, she rejected the God of Abraham and was a devoted worshiper of Baal. Athaliah married Jehoram, the eldest son of Judah’s King Jehoshaphat. Unlike his godly father, Jehoram was a wicked king. When he died, his son Ahaziah became king at age 22—but he was as corrupt as his father and reigned only one year before being assassinated. When Athaliah heard that her son was dead, she seized the throne by murdering all of Ahaziah’s sons—her own grandsons—thus eradicating the royal family line that was next in succession. For six years Athaliah reigned as queen, unaware that one grandchild, Joash, had been rescued from the massacre. Jehosheba, the baby’s aunt and the wife of the high priest Jehoiada, had hidden Joash in the temple. (2 Kings 11:1–3) Meanwhile, Athaliah established Baal worship in Judah, installed pagan priests, and even built altars for her idol within the temple of the Lord. When Joash was seven years old, Jehoiada the priest revealed him publicly, crowned him as the rightful king, and ordered Athaliah’s execution. (2 Kings 11:12) Satan had succeeded in reducing the Messianic bloodline to a single year-old infant—but God intervened. The Bible declares:
Therefore, God always fulfills His promises. He is all-powerful, and His plans cannot fail. Yet, as the wickedness of this world makes clear, after 6,000 years of defeat, Satan still refuses to give up.
