Gavin Newsom is polishing his national ambitions again. It’s a bold strategy: declare yourself the savior of America after presiding over a state where the cost of living is so high even the palm trees are considering relocation.
And then, with a straight face that deserves an award, Newsom proclaims, “Trump is trying to wreck this country.” An interesting accusation from a man whose state budget has whiplash, whose cities are engaged in competitive homelessness, and whose residents often flee eastward like it’s the Gold Rush in reverse.
To be fair, Newsom has mastered a certain political acrobatics—he can strike a heroic pose on the national stage while sidestepping the debris field back home. It’s almost admirable, in a tragicomic way. California burns, floods, crumbles, and hemorrhages residents, but Newsom drives onward, undeterred, ready to bring his “success stories” nationwide.
America should watch closely. After all, California has long been considered a preview of the future. Let’s all pray that the rest of the country does NOT want a sequel.

It takes a special kind of chutzpah for Tim Walz to preside over one of the largest welfare-program frauds in Minnesota history — a billion dollars slipping through state agencies like sand through fingers — and still lecture everyone about how “well-run” the state is. While fraudsters were helping themselves to taxpayer cash, whistleblowers were brushed off, and Walz now acts shocked, shocked, that criminals exploited the system. If this is his idea of competent oversight, Americans should thank God that Walz and his word-salad running mate lost the last election.
