Recognizing Our New Life

Recognizing Our New Life

Stop, stop! We have to take another approach to what the Lord wants to share with you. Well, to be honest, that is a message intended for me, more than for you. I already had something I was going to address, but the Spirit of God is re-directing what He wants to show you.
Over the last few days I have been showing you the wonder and magnificent new-birth, the very life and nature of Yahweh. Then tonight, during our Bible Study, our Pastor turned to one of my favorite chapters in the Bible: Romans 8!
Anyway, we began reading Romans 8:15-17, and my mind began to fixate on these proclamations by Paul, in light of everything I have taught you over the past few days!
Let me show you what I mean.
This resurrection life you received from God [receiving Zoe, the very life and nature of our God] is not a timid, grave-tending life. It  is adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?
I love that! Knowing what our Father has given us, are you “adventurously expectant“? Despite all the hardships you may have experienced, are you able, no, scratch that. Are you willing to “greet our God with a childlike, ‘What’s next, Papa?'”
Let’s say you lost your job, or maybe experiencing the onset of a debilitating disease. My first counsel is don’t start thinking your life is falling apart and that you have no hope. You are never without hope. Our Father, the God of Creation (neat thought, isn’t it? He is the Grand Master of everything that exists, yet He is also our Father! I know it is hard to rationalize or explain, but our task is to simply believe it!) anyway, don’t start thinking that your life is falling apart. And don’t start blaming our God for your trouble. He will be your source of rescue and healing!
God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are.
Isn’t that what I was just talking about? Well, it is not something you can just ponder and “think” about. It is something you live! Paul just explained that the Spirit of God “touches our spirit.” Why? To “confirm who we really are!!!
We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance!
Oh, Glory of God! That is what our faith is all about! We “know who we are.” We do? Yes! We are the children of the Most high God! Not some derogated stepchild. As the children of the Most High God, we receive an unbelievable inheritance.
Paul expanded his message by saying, “since we are his children, we will share his treasures — for all God gives to his Son Jesus is now ours, too! But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Ouch, we don’t like to hear that, do we?
Well, Paul goes on the stated, “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later. For all creation is waiting patiently and hopefully for that future day when God will resurrect his children. For on that day thorns and thistles, sin, death, and decay the things that overcame the world against its will at God’s command — will all disappear, and the world around us will share in the glorious freedom from sin which God’s children enjoy.

With these Morning Messages, I take you on guided tours to, as Bunyan described, the Celestial City. At times we linger at corners familiar and unseen. And explore the depths of our faith along the way.
The trail is long, but there’s no hurry. Though we do need to stock up on supplies for the way, and that’s where I need your help. If you enjoy these messages, please consider becoming a contributing member of this tour group. It will be very much appreciated.

    Biblical tree of life

    Jewish sources[edit]

Main articles: Etz Chaim and Biblical tree of life

Etz Chaim, Hebrew for "tree of life," is a common term used in Judaism. The expression, found in the Book of Proverbs, is figuratively applied to the Torah itself. Etz Chaim is also a common name for yeshivas and synagogues as well as for works of Rabbinic literature. It is also used to describe each of the wooden poles to which the parchment of a Sefer Torah is attached.

The tree of life is mentioned in the Book of Genesis; it is distinct from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. After Adam disobeyed God by eating fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he was driven out of the garden of Eden. Remaining in the garden, however, was the tree of life. To prevent the man's access to this tree in the future, Cherubims with a flaming sword were placed at the east of the garden. (Genesis 3:22-24)
In the Book of Proverbs, the tree of life is associated with wisdom: "[Wisdom] is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her, and happy [is every one] that retaineth her." (Proverbs 3:13-18) In 15:4 the tree of life is associated with calmness: "A soothing tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a wound to the spirit."[25]
The Book of Enoch, generally considered non-canonical, states that in the time of the great judgment God will give all those whose names are in the Book of Life fruit to eat from the Tree of Life.

    Kabbalah[edit]

Judaic Kabbalah Tree of Life 10 Sephirot, through which the Ein Sof unknowable Divine manifests Creation. The configuration relates to man
Jewish mysticism depicts the Tree of Life in the form of ten interconnected nodes, as the central symbol of the Kabbalah. It comprises the ten Sephirot powers in the Divine realm. The panentheistic and anthropomorphic emphasis of this emanationist theology interpreted the Torah, Jewish observance, and the purpose of Creation as the symbolic esoteric drama of unification in the Sephirot, restoring harmony to Creation. From the time of the Renaissance onwards, Jewish Kabbalah became incorporated as an important tradition in non-Jewish Western culture, first through its adoption by Christian Cabala, and continuing in Western esotericism occult Hermetic Qabalah. These adapted the Judaic Kabbalah Tree of Life syncretically by associating it with other religious traditions, esoteric theologies, and magical practices.

The Reaction To A Blameless Life

The Reaction To A Blameless Life

Holy Moly! I discovered that when you have established in your heart that you will walk blamelessly before our Lord — living a way that pleases the Lord — some of those around you will be upset. In fact, I will go so far as to say that those who are in rebellion to the Lord, will be afraid of you and even despise you. Fellow Christians, who are living lukewarm or compromised lives, are going to be flat-out repelled by your life! Watch and see!
We can see this in Saul’s reaction to David:
“Saul was afraid of David, because Yahweh was with David but had left Saul. So he kept David away. He made David captain of a regiment. David led the troops out to battle and back again. He was successful in everything he undertook because Yahweh was with him. Saul noticed how very successful he was and became even more afraid of him.” (I Samuel 18:12-15).
Wow! Was that fair? Of course, it wasn’t. But that is what will happen when like Bunyan’s young Christian, you “put his fingers in his ears and run on, crying Life! Life! Eternal Life!”
In the case of David, his blameless behavior struck fear in Saul’s heart! Whenever Saul was around David, he remembered when he had enjoyed the favor of God and the high esteem of men. But sadly, Saul’s disobedience, envy, pride and self-will had cost him all of his power with his God. He also lost all respect from the people.
Now, Saul was face-to-face with a younger man — much less experienced, probably less articulate — who exuded the power and integrity of holiness. David was pure in heart, full of the Holy Spirit, and Saul was afraid of him! I talked about the obvious differences between them, before, in Saul and David: Or Punishment vs: Correction, but we need to remember that this was no idolatrous pagan who was afraid of David. No, Saul was a man who had once known the power of the Holy Spirit! He had once been God’s anointed, a mighty man chosen of God!
But in the life of David, he was simply living a clean life, and the Lord was pouring favor on him! “Everyone in Israel and Judah loved David, because he led them in and out of battle” (I Samuel 18:16). Amazing!
David was a complete unknown; a lowly shepherd who was insignificant even in his family. Yet, Saul did not want to be around Him. Scripture says, “Saul kept him out of his sight” (I Samuel 18:13).
Sadly, Saul represents Christians who have compromised and lost the anointing of God on their lives. At one time, they may have been full of the Holy Spirit, baptized, on fire for the Lord, but through their disobedience, pride and lust they lost everything they once knew.
I cannot imagine anything that is scarier to a compromised Christian than a holy blameless life. And the more your life lines up with the Lord’s will and His holiness, the more repelling you will become to backslidden believers.
