Recognizing Our New Life

Stop, stop! We have to take another approach to what the Lord wants to share with you. Well, to be honest, that is a message intended for me, more than for you. I already had something I was going to address, but the Spirit of God is re-directing what He wants to show you.
Over the last few days I have been showing you the wonder and magnificent new-birth, the very life and nature of Yahweh. Then tonight, during our Bible Study, our Pastor turned to one of my favorite chapters in the Bible: Romans 8!
Anyway, we began reading Romans 8:15-17, and my mind began to fixate on these proclamations by Paul, in light of everything I have taught you over the past few days!
Let me show you what I mean.
This resurrection life you received from God [receiving Zoe, the very life and nature of our God] is not a timid, grave-tending life. It  is adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?
I love that! Knowing what our Father has given us, are you “adventurously expectant“? Despite all the hardships you may have experienced, are you able, no, scratch that. Are you willing to “greet our God with a childlike, ‘What’s next, Papa?'”
Let’s say you lost your job, or maybe experiencing the onset of a debilitating disease. My first counsel is don’t start thinking your life is falling apart and that you have no hope. You are never without hope. Our Father, the God of Creation (neat thought, isn’t it? He is the Grand Master of everything that exists, yet He is also our Father! I know it is hard to rationalize or explain, but our task is to simply believe it!) anyway, don’t start thinking that your life is falling apart. And don’t start blaming our God for your trouble. He will be your source of rescue and healing!
God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are.
Isn’t that what I was just talking about? Well, it is not something you can just ponder and “think” about. It is something you live! Paul just explained that the Spirit of God “touches our spirit.” Why? To “confirm who we really are!!!
We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance!
Oh, Glory of God! That is what our faith is all about! We “know who we are.” We do? Yes! We are the children of the Most high God! Not some derogated stepchild. As the children of the Most High God, we receive an unbelievable inheritance.
Paul expanded his message by saying, “since we are his children, we will share his treasures — for all God gives to his Son Jesus is now ours, too! But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Ouch, we don’t like to hear that, do we?
Well, Paul goes on the stated, “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later. For all creation is waiting patiently and hopefully for that future day when God will resurrect his children. For on that day thorns and thistles, sin, death, and decay the things that overcame the world against its will at God’s command — will all disappear, and the world around us will share in the glorious freedom from sin which God’s children enjoy.

With these Morning Messages, I take you on guided tours to, as Bunyan described, the Celestial City. At times we linger at corners familiar and unseen. And explore the depths of our faith along the way.
The trail is long, but there’s no hurry. Though we do need to stock up on supplies for the way, and that’s where I need your help. If you enjoy these messages, please consider becoming a contributing member of this tour group. It will be very much appreciated.
