Fatah: "To be a real Palestinian
you must be a self-sacrificing fighter"

Fatah honored the founders and heads of terror organizations responsible for murdering hundreds as part of its 52nd anniversary celebration:
  • Ahmad Yassin, founder of Hamas
  • Fathi Shaqaqi, founder Islamic Jihad
  • Abu Ali Mustafa, head of PFLP
Fatah cited as role models:
  • Terrorist murderer Dalal Mughrabi who led killing of 37
    • Mughrabi is "Bride of Palestine"
  • Arch-terrorist Abu Jihad who orchestrated the murder of at least 125 people
Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik

Abbas' Fatah wished "the real Palestinians" a "good year" in a post on Facebook, parading some of the movement's role models, among them several "Martyrs," all of whom were either murderers or heads of murderous terror organizations.
The largest picture among the role models on Fatah's image above is terrorist murderer Dalal Mughrabi who led the killing of 37 Israelis in a bus hijacking in 1978. Additional pictures (left to right) are PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, terrorist Omar Al-Qassem, Yasser Arafat, Islamic Jihad founder Fathi Shaqaqi, Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin, and Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Abu Ali Mustafa.
Fatah described what it means to be "a real Palestinian," and predicted that "a people whose leaders are Martyrs" - as the leaders singled out in the photos, except Abbas - "will undoubtedly triumph with Allah's help":
Text on image: "Fatah embraces its people and praises the Martyrs.
To be a real Palestinian, you must be a self-sacrificing fighter (Fida'i), know much and reveal little, search for the security in the heart of the danger, get used to having no time to cry over endings but rather to always have new beginnings.
Long life to you and long live the anniversary of the Launch [of Fatah] (Intilaqa), and may it be a good year.
A people whose leaders are Martyrs will undoubtedly triumph with Allah's help..."
[Official Fatah Facebook page, Dec. 27, 2016]
In another post, Fatah presented the same terror leaders as "heroic Martyrs" and "swore" it will "continue our revolution until victory:"

The celebration posts of Fatah's 52nd anniversary concentrate on Fatah's "leaders" - and leading terrorists. Palestinian Media Watch has also documented Fatah's glorification of specific terror attacks.

As is its policy, Fatah glorified terrorist Dalal Mughrabi in another post as the "Bride of Palestine." [Official Fatah Facebook page, Dec. 27, 2016]

Adding to the message that Fatah is proud of its killers and adheres to the option of "armed struggle" and violence, Fatah posted a photo of the Chairman of the Information Committee of the Fatah Mobilization and Organization Commission Munir Al-Jaghoub holding a drawing of a handshake forming a gun with a Palestinian flag. The gun points at a flag with a Star of David on it with the text: "The Israeli occupation." Text on the gun says "The Palestinian reconciliation" - referring to a desired resolution of the existing rift between Fatah and Hamas. [Official Fatah Facebook page, Dec. 28, 2016]
The posted statement by this Fatah official urges Fatah to meet with Hamas "on the basis of the partnership that unites all of us." According to the drawing, this unifying basis is violence against Israel.
In addition to these posts, Fatah has celebrated the 52nd anniversary of its "Launch" by glorifying numerous of "Martyrs," among them many terrorist murderers: Arch-terrorist Abu Jihad who orchestrated attacks in which at least 125 Israelis were murdered; Marwan Barghouti, who is serving 5 life sentences for planning attacks that killed 5; Karim Younes, who kidnapped and killed an Israeli soldier; Raed Al-Karmi, who was responsible for attacks that killed 9 Israelis; Abu Ali Iyad, who was responsible for several terror attacks in 1966; Kamal Adwan, who was responsible for Fatah's terrorist operations in Israel in the 1960's and 1970's and was a senior member of Black September. (Longer descriptions of these terrorists appear below.)

On all the images appears the logo of the 52nd anniversary of "the Launch" (Intilaqa) of Fatah, which features the PA map of "Palestine" that presents all of Israel as "Palestine" together with the PA areas, a keffiyeh (Arab headdress), and the Fatah logo with a grenade, crossed rifles, and the PA map of "Palestine." The logo is the profile picture and appears on the cover photo of Fatah's official Facebook page. [Official Fatah Facebook page, Dec. 15 and 18, 2016]

The following are longer descriptions of the terrorists glorified by Fatah:

Abu Ali Iyad was appointed head of Fatah military operations in 1966 and was responsible for several terror attacks. Facts force Washington Post to backtrack on report that Russia hacked US power grid
The Washington Post has corrected an article in which it said that Russian hackers had infiltrated the US power grid at a Vermont utility. The newspaper now says authorities have no such “indications” as people on social media claim the outlet promotes “fake news.”
On Friday, Burlington Electric, a Vermont-based power company, raised an alarm after finding malware code on a company laptop. Referring to undisclosed officials, the Washington Post then ran a damning headline, saying that “Russian operation hacked a Vermont utility” which posed a risk “to US electrical grid security.”
Yet it turns out that the laptop that was penetrated wasn’t even attached to the power network, according to a statement from Burlington Electric. “We detected suspicious internet traffic in a single Burlington Electric Department computer not connected to our organization’s grid systems,” the message
No evidence of a Russian trace has been released either. Eventually, the Washington Post issued a  to its article. “An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that Russian hackers had penetrated the US electric grid. Authorities say there is no indication of that so far,” the statement said. The headline, blatantly accusing “Russian hackers” of breaching the US power grid, remains, though.
Glen Greenwald, a prominent US journalist who was among those breaking the story on Edward Snowden’s leaks on the NSA spying scandal, said the case suits America’s anti-Russian agenda. “It matters even more because it reflects the deeply irrational and ever-spiraling fever that is being cultivated in US political discourse and culture about the threat posed by Moscow,” Greenwald
Meanwhile, people on social media teamed up in slamming the material by the Washington Post as another instance of “fake news.”
It’s not the first time the Washington Post has had to correct a report containing ill-founded allegations. On November 24, an  by the newspaper alleged that Russia is in fact behind a massive spread of “fake news” which affected the US presidential campaign in November last year.
One of the experts cited by the newspaper was a group called PropOrNot, which “identified” over 200 websites as spreading Russian propaganda. Yet the article drew serious criticism from people on social media as well as journalists over PropOrNot's own dubious credentials.
In return, the Washington Post issued a lengthy editor’s note, saying that some of the sites included by PropOrNot “have publicly challenged the group’s methodology and conclusions.” The group later deleted them and Washington Post on its part said that does not “vouch for the validity of PropOrNot’s findings.”
In October, the US officially accused Russia of hacking computers of individuals and organizations of the Democratic campaign ahead of the US elections. Moscow rebuffed the accusation as “nonsense.”
Following the victory of the Republican candidate Donald Trump, the Washington Post, citing a CIA report,  that Moscow specifically helped Trump to get into the White House.
The President-elect  the allegations “ridiculous” and labeled them yet “another excuse” by the Democrats for the loss of Hillary Clinton.  Speaking to RT, a former member of the British MI5 intelligence agency, Annie Machon, said that rolling out with a bright headline and later issuing a correction is part of the Washington Post’s tactics.
“Time after time after time, we are seeing this fake news coming out in the Washington Post,” she said. “And every time they put these fake stories out they have to put [out] a disclaimer afterwards. But of course, the seed is then sown,” Machon said.

Brazile: Trump has ‘enormous’ opportunity to find common ground with Dems

Donna Brazile, the interim chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, said on Sunday that President-elect Donald Trump has an “enormous” opportunity to find common ground with Democrats in the early days of his presidency.
“If it’s ‘my way or the highway,’ what you’re going to see again is another round of gridlock in Washington, D.C.” she said on ABC’s “This Week." “You’re going to see retribution and retaliation.”
Brazile said Trump has an “enormous” opportunity, as has every president in his first 100 days, “to show that he’s eager to find common ground, to meet with Democrats.“
“Have them over for breakfast, have them over for afternoon tea, and see if you can find some common ground,” she suggested.

Report: North Korea close to testing ICBMs
A man watches a television news report showing file footage of North Korea's missile launch at a railway station in Seoul on October 20, 2016. North Korea on October 20 conducted what appeared to be its second failed test in a week of a powerful medium-range missile that experts warn could be operationally deployed as early as next year. South Korean and US military monitors said the missile -- believed to be an intermediate-range Musudan -- exploded shortly after take-off at around 6:30 am Pyongyang time. / AFP / JUNG YEON-JE (Photo credit should read JUNG YEON-JE/AFP/Getty Images)
Kim Jong Un, leader of nuclear-capable North Korea, has indicated his country is close to testing a long-range, intercontinental ballistic missile or ICBM.
Kim made the announcement in a New Year’s Day speech, saying the tests are in the final stages and a launch is imminent. Reuters reports:
North Korea tested ballistic missiles at an unprecedented rate during 2016, although some experts have said it is years away from developing an ICBM fitted with a nuclear warhead capable of reaching the United States…
…A successful ICBM test launch would mark a significant step forward for secretive Pyongyang’s weapons capability. ICBMs have a minimum range of about 5,500 km (3,418 miles), but some are designed to travel 10,000 km or further. The U.S. state of California is roughly 9,000 km from North Korea.
North Korea has been under international sanctions since 2006 due to its missile tests, with those sanctions becoming even stricter in Sept. 2016 following their largest nuclear test to date.
President-elect Donald Trump and his incoming National Security adviser, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, have both expressed an interest in the North Korean tests, with Trump requesting a special classified intelligence briefing to discuss the country’s nuclear program.
Reuters quotes An Chan-il, a former North Korean military officer who defected to South Korea and runs a think tank in Seoul, as saying that Trump’s language concerning Pyongyang’s nuclear tests will play a role in Kim’s decision making.
“If Trump comes in and the North does not get a good signal in terms of how the relationship between the two countries is going to go, that’ll give them another reason to do it,” An said.
North Korea launched a satellite into space last February, which was widely considered to be a test of the isolated nation’s long-range ballistic missile technology, Reuters notes.

President-elect Donald Trump late Saturday said he will reveal new information in the next few days about alleged Russian hacking during the U.S. presidential election, saying he knows “things that other people don’t know.”
During brief remarks to reporters during a New Year’s Eve celebration at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., Trump repeated his skepticism of U.S. intelligence agencies’ assertions that Russia was behind the hacking.
“I just want them to be sure because it’s a pretty serious charge,” Trump said. “If you look at the weapons of mass destruction, that was a disaster, and they were wrong.”
“So I want them to be sure,” he added. “I think it’s unfair if they don’t know.”
Trump also said he knows “a lot” about hacking, saying it is a “very hard thing to prove.”
“So it could be somebody else. And I also know things that other people don’t know, and so they cannot be sure of the situation.”
Trump did not offer details when pressed about what he knows, saying only that, “You’ll find out on Tuesday or Wednesday.”
