British rapper Bob Vylan’s “Death to the IDF” chant at the Glastonbury Festival in England sparked global controversy this week and raised new concerns about the growing normalization of antisemitic incitement to violence. In another manifestation of this same disturbing trend, New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani once again refused on Sunday to denounce the “Globalize the Intifada” hate slogan. Meanwhile, the Trump administration warned Harvard University that it was in “violent violation” of the U.S. Civil Rights Act and would lose all federal funding if “adequate changes” to address on-campus antisemitism were not instituted immediately.
Antisemitic Hate Speech Incidents Around World
The ARC documented several additional incidents of antisemitic hate speech this week - invariably the most common manifestation of Jew-hatred worldwide. Incidents included:
- Argentina: In Buenos Aires, fans of Club Atlético All Boys paraded a coffin draped in an Israeli flag, ahead of a match against Club Atlético Atlanta.
- France: Anti-Israel demonstrators in in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés shouted "dirty Jew.”
- Italy: Posters reading "Israeli not welcome" were plastered across Milan.
- Ireland: A politician was targeted by mail with neo-Nazi propaganda, including Holocaust denial and images of Hitler.
