Man Rapes 13-Year-Old Girl and Takes Her to Planned Parenthood for an Abortion

STATE   MICAIAH BILGER   NOV 2, 2017   |   3:28PM    WICHITA, KS
A Kansas man is facing sexual assault charges this week after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl and then tried to get her an abortion when she became pregnant with his child.
The Sentinel-Record reports Joel Clark Wilt, 26, of Wichita, Kansas allegedly had a months-long sexual relationship with the young teen that began in March.
Arkansas State Police said they learned of the alleged abuse after the young teen became pregnant and went to a Planned Parenthood for an abortion. The teen lives in Arkansas and now is 14, according to Arkansas Online.
According to police, the teen said she and Wilt met in late 2016 and began a sexual relationship several months later. She said she knew how old Wilt was, and she was in love with him.
Police said they received a Child Abuse Hotline report about the suspected abuse in early July.
Several weeks later, police said they also received a fax from the Planned Parenthood abortion chain’s Arizona branch that listed concerns about the young teen having a sexual relationship with an adult man, according to the report. Though Planned Parenthood has a long record of hiding sexual abuse, in this case, it appears its employees did the right thing.
The teen later aborted her unborn baby in California, though the report does not mention if she had it at a Planned Parenthood, according to police. She was about three months pregnant when her unborn child was aborted.
Police said both Wilt and the teen initially denied having a sexual relationship, but the teen later admitted that they did.
Here’s more from the report:
[Hot Springs police Detective Kenny] May received the victim’s pregnancy results from her grandmother on Sept. 26, which showed the estimated date of conception was May 5.
On Aug. 9, May received a fax from the Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles. The fax stated the victim had received an abortion at a clinic within the county. She also disclosed that she had begun dating Wilt five months beforehand, and her pregnancy was the result of their relationship.
On Aug. 14, the victim’s mother showed May conversations between Wilt and the victim on the victim’s cellphone, including numerous Facebook messages between the two from July where Wilt reportedly called the victim “cute and sexy baby” and told her “I love you so much too baby.”
On Sept. 13, May reviewed a disk provided by state police that included a phone conversation between Arkansas State Police Investigator Kathy Finnegan and the victim recorded Aug. 10. In the phone conversation, the victim informed Finnegan she had an abortion the day before, and Wilt was the father. She said Wilt had told her to take 6,000 mg of vitamin C each day to induce a miscarriage.
It is not clear if the teen wanted to abort her unborn baby. Victims of sexual abuse often are pressured to have abortions. Many face threats and sometimes physical violence if they refuse to give into their abuser’s demands. There are no indications of the reasons for the abortion in the Arkansas teen’s case, but, being so young, it is difficult to believe she would understand the harmful impact of an abortion on her life and her unborn baby’s. Many sexual abuse victims who become pregnant say the abortion only added to their trauma, according to research by the Elliot Institute.
Planned Parenthood has been caught covering up sexual abuse in the past.
In an Ohio case, a 22-year-old soccer coach was convicted of sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on his team, LifeNews reported. According to reports, he statutorily raped the girl; and when she became pregnant, he took her to Planned Parenthood to abort their unborn baby and cover up what he had done. The Ohio Planned Parenthood also faced a lawsuit for failing to report the sexual abuse of the young girl.
Undercover investigators with Live Action also exposed the abortion chain’s willingness to help cover up sexual abuse. In 2008, the pro-life group released an undercover video showing a Planned Parenthood in Bloomington, Indiana agreeing to help cover up the sexual abuse of a minor.

My Doctor Told Me My Baby Would Have Down Syndrome: “We Can Terminate If You’d Like”

 OPINION   KAREN C   NOV 2, 2017   |   5:50PM    WASHINGTON, DC
My husband and I were thrilled to find out we were pregnant with our seventh kiddo! We knew our kids would be equally as excited and so we wanted to tell them in an extra special way.
Let’s just say it was a celebration! So celebratory in fact, that it hasn’t stopped since.
I was about 21 weeks through my pregnancy when we found out Myla would most likely have Down syndrome. I vividly remember the days leading up to her diagnosis. We were super excited because it was our ultrasound day. A sweet young lady did the ultrasound and seeing our baby move and play on the screen was incredible.
We watched as the nurse measured all her parts and tried to get a good picture of her adorable little face. It seemed to take unusually long, but I was grateful for the extra time. When she finished she said that at their office the doctor always comes back in to remeasure and go over everything in the ultrasound.
As soon as she left the room, I told Chad something was wrong and that I could tell the lady saw something of concern. I’d never heard of doctors coming back to redo the ultrasound. He assured me everything was okay just as the doctor walked in.
The doctor didn’t say a lot as he remeasured and looked and remeasured and looked for what seemed like forever. My heart was racing and I could hardly breathe. I remember praying and praying and begging the Lord to let everything be okay. He finally finished, took a deep breath, and said our baby had two of the four soft signs for Down syndrome.
He told us about a blood test we could do that would give us an answer and sent me to my midwife’s office for the test. We went straight there. I went in for the blood test alone. My mind was racing on the way in and racing even more as I walked out knowing it would be seven to ten days before we would have results.
hose days slowly ticked by and I remember telling myself over and over to just trust the Lord.
The call came ten days later. All the kids were outside playing and Chad was sitting on the couch across from me. I expected the midwife’s office to call, but it was the ultrasound specialist’s secretary telling me to “please hold for the doctor.” I looked at Chad and was barely able to tell him who it was before the doctor was on the phone.
He said, “Hello Mrs. Crawford, we got your test results back and your baby does have Down syndrome”, and without taking another breath he went on to say, “We can terminate the pregnancy if you like…” I immediately snapped back, “Never. That will never happen!”
I was absolutely shocked that he had said that and was angry. I was carrying a precious baby—how could he say that?
At my next appointment, my midwife was in tears telling me that “No one ever keeps the babies with Downs.” She was so happy that this baby had been given to us and so was I. Many nurses told me how happy they were that we were keeping the baby. It was obvious it didn’t happen often, at least in this office.
I cried almost the whole way home.
Since then I’ve learned that over 80% of babies with Down syndrome in the United States are aborted. Some studies say as high as 92% and it is even higher (much higher) in other countries.
Genetic testing is commonly offered to pregnant women and those who test positive for possible Downs are often encouraged to terminate.
This breaks my heart. I pray that Myla’s life might make a difference in this terribly sad and heartbreaking statistic. I hope her life helps raise awareness about Down syndrome so others might see that termination isn’t the answer. Life is too special and important.
Down Syndrome obviously has its struggles, but so does everything this side of heaven. We need to bring awareness to things like Down syndrome so people won’t be so afraid of it.
Myla is sunshine! She’s a blessing. She brings warmth, she brings life, she brings growth, she brings rainbows in the storms, she brings a brightness to our lives that I can’t even imagine having to live without.

Abortion Activist: Pro-Lifers Just Oppose Planned Parenthood Because They Value “Belief Versus Science”

OPINION   DAVE ANDRUSKO   NOV 2, 2017   |   6:25PM    WASHINGTON, DC
Lisa Rosenbaum, M.D., is described as “a national correspondent for the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), a cardiologist and an instructor in the Department of Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.” Her latest contribution to the prestigious NEJM was published yesterday under the headline, “Understanding the Planned Parenthood Divide — Albert Lasker and Women’s Health.”
You can read Dr. Rosenbaum’s piece in its entirety here, so let me tack on just a couple of observations.
There’s a lot of preliminary filler but that is only to offer “proof” that opponents of Planned Parenthood are daft. Here are three of many points worth considering.
#1. Before he turned his focus to philanthropy, “Albert Lasker, considered the father of modern advertising,’ transformed product marketing from an endeavor based on the simple presentation of facts to one finely tuned to consumer psychology, particularly as it pertained to women.”
That’s the beginning. Let’s go to the middle and then the end.
Middle: Opposition to Planned Parenthood is by definition a battle of “belief versus science,” we’re told. Her essay is replete with snide remarks about us dummies and then
End: out of the blue (calling on Lasker’s advertising wisdom) she ignores everything that preceded this head-scratcher of a conclusion:
The Lasker Foundation honors and sustains outstanding contributions to human health, but to extend the benefits of these advances to as many people as possible, we may have to begin to approach the conflict between science and belief  with curiosity rather than disdain.  Perhaps a future Lasker award will be granted to those who teach us, as a society, to move beyond seeking confirmation of what we already believe toward better understanding what we don’t.
It is only to state the obvious that if you read the first 90% of her essay, using her own criteria, clearly Dr. Rosenbaum is not going to be the recipient of a future Lasker award. You wonder if these people have editors or the groupthink is so all-encompassing they can’t see how dismissive, how condescending her entire 1,364-word-long essay actually is.
#2. Dr. Rosenbaum tells us
Although religious and philosophical objections to abortion apparently inform the enduring animus toward Planned Parenthood, the organization does far more than provide safe and affordable abortions.
(I love the “apparently.”)
No one has ever said PPFA only provides abortion. What we have said–using PPFA’s own annual reports–is that abortion is a cash cow for this $1.3 billion “non-profit.” PPFA is consolidating like made, largely by vacuuming up affiliates that don’t perform abortions–or not enough abortions.

Moreover, while PPFA maintains its market share in a (thankfully) shrinking pool of abortions, it continues to cut back on the “women-helping” services it is forever touting. For example, take the total number of cancer screening and prevention services, manual breast exams (PPFA doesn’t do mammograms), and pap tests. Data from its latest annual report, show they all experienced a huge drop–nearly 50% from 2012!
And consider this sobering reminder: 2015-2016 appears to mark the first year at PPFA that the number of abortions – 328,348 – exceeded the number of breast exams it performed – 321,700. That is both substantively and symbolically of enormous importance. And then
#3. Which, on second thought, is an elaboration of #1. Dr. Rosenbaum writes
If no one opposes providing health care to women, why does Planned Parenthood remain such a polarizing force in American society? Religion? Misogyny? Fake news? Though the role of any one factor in shaping public perception is unclear, the bitter partisanship surrounding contraception seems to reflect, more broadly, the quintessential challenge of our time: the ascendance of belief over fact, outrage over thoughtful debate, and the accessibility of an endless supply of “information” that confirms our preexisting beliefs, whatever they may be.
On what planet does refusing to roll over and have your religious liberty curtailed by an edict from Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services the “ascendance of belief over fact”? Of “fake news”? Of “misogyny”?
I would argue much of Dr. Rosenbaum’s opinion piece, National Correspondent for NEJM or not, is classic “fake news.” And when people, like Dr. Rosenbaum, toss around allegations of hatred of women (misogyny), why couldn’t/shouldn’t people like me counter that her remarks are pitch perfect examples of misandry (hatred of men) and intolerance (at best), loathing for (at worst) women and men of faith?
My conclusion? “Physician, heal thyself.”

Abortion Clinic Staffer Leaves Work, Drives Up to Praying Pro-Lifers and Says the Most Amazing Thing: “I Quit”

NATIONAL   SHAWN CARNEY   NOV 2, 2017   |   10:05AM    WASHINGTON, DC
It’s not a cliche to say that abortion is about hearts and minds; it’s a reality.
No one aspires to work in an abortion facility; it is never the plan. When abortion workers see that you are praying for them and that you really do care, the wall comes down. Here’s an example.
A car was leaving the abortion center parking lot, and the driver slowed to talk to them. “Thank you!” the driver said, in a somewhat shaky, emotional voice … then adding, “I’m sorry.”
The driver worked at the abortion facility – but had just quit.
It was while on the way into work that this employee saw people praying. “I felt I was in the middle and they were praying for me.”
“We were!” said one vigil participant.
The boss tried to talk the employee out of leaving, but had no success; the worker was convinced that resigning was the only choice.
Volunteers offered to help in the job search. At this point, the driver broke down in tears, saying it was clear that the 40 Days for Life people really do care, even though the abortion clinic manager said otherwise.
Said one of the vigil participants, “Praise God! Praise God! Praise God!”
That’s our BIG “good news” item for the day. Here are some more brief, joyful, encouraging nuggets from our hard-working local 40 Days for Life coordinators:

Columbia, South Carolina

Two clients went from Planned Parenthood to the pregnancy help center. The boyfriend of the first was particularly delighted to see his baby on the ultrasound and hear the heartbeat. He wants to keep his child!

Merrillville, Indiana

We witnessed our second save during this 40 Days for Life campaign!

Charlottesville, Virginia

A woman and a young boy, out taking a walk, passed the vigil. On their return trip, the woman said that someone out in front of Planned Parenthood had talked her daughter out of having an abortion seven years ago. Now she is enjoying her grandson, who keeps her very busy!

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

A volunteer got to talk with a woman and she decided to go to the pro-life pregnancy help center after coming out of the abortion facility. Then another woman just needed encouraging words. He shook her hand and off she went!

Birmingham, England

Another TWO mums changed their minds about abortion this morning which means that at least EIGHT women have kept their babies this campaign. A positive start to a solemn day.

San Luis Obispo, California

By the grace of God, two more babes were saved!

Dallas, Texas

We had another baby saved — number 14 for this campaign that we know of! Mom and dad went to the pregnancy resource center for a sonogram, and found out the baby is ten weeks and three days old!
