Australia has been hit by one of the worst bushfire crises in its history; at least 15 people have been killed since September and more than a thousand homes have been destroyed.

The Grand Tour presenter Jeremy Clarkson has said that fellow Commonwealth member Australia wasn’t meant for human habitation, as deadly wildfires are tearing through vast swathes of the country.

In a light-hearted column in The Sun, Clarkson suggested that God had created Australia as a remote location to “house all his experiments that had gone wrong”.

He went on to joke that God is “embarrassed” with humans learning about the creatures he wanted to hide, so he had decided to set fire to the continent. Clarkson – a former climate change sceptic who once told Greta Thunberg to “go back to school” – refused to speculate over what caused the fires but described them as “something biblical”.

Republican Senator Josh Hawley to introduce legislation to dismiss impeachment

Last month, the House passed two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. However, Speaker Nancy Pelosi still hasn’t sent them to the Senate for a trial.
On Thursday, Republican Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) said he had decided to introduce legislation to dismiss the articles. The former state attorney general argued that “real world” criminal charges would be treated the same way.

“Dems said impeachment was URGENT. Now they don’t want to have a trial, because they have no evidence,” Hawley declared in a tweet.
“In the real world, if the prosecution doesn’t proceed with the case, it gets dismissed,” he noted. “So on Monday, I will introduce a measure to dismiss this bogus impeachment for lack of prosecution.”

He went on to promise that this move “will expose Dems’ circus for what it is: a fake impeachment, abuse of the Constitution, based on no evidence.”
“If Dems won’t proceed with a trial,” Hawley warned, “bogus articles should be dismissed and Donald Trump fully cleared.”

Pelosi has thus far refused to send the articles, claiming that Senate Republicans haven’t agreed to trial rules that she considers to be equitable. “So far we haven’t seen anything that looks fair to us,” she saidlast month.

“This is abuse of power.”

Hawley isn’t the only one to suggest that Pelosi’s conduct is impermissible.

Famed liberal attorney Alan Dershowitz made the same case during a December appearance on Fox News.
“If he has been impeached, the Senate has to start its trial as soon as they choose to,” he contended. “Remember, the Senate is the sole judge of guilty or innocence of impeachment. And so the Democrats can’t have it both ways.”
“They can’t sound the one hand — to the public we are saying he is impeached, but for the Senate, we’re saying he is not impeached. You know what I say? This is obstruction of the Senate — exactly the same charge that made against the president.”
“This is abuse of power from exactly the same charge they made against the president. It is wrong constitutionally. It is wrong morally. And it is wrong politically,” Dershowitz concluded.

In response to owing $112,805 in unpaid taxes in 2015, the IRS placed a lien on Hunter Biden.

Hunter served on the board of Ukrainian gas giant Burisma Holdings that year, netting $83,000 a month, and Chinese equity firm BHR Partners, earning an additional fortune deserving equal scrutiny. 

However, Biden's finances remain murky, as he has refused to hand over basic information in an ongoing paternity case in Arkansas.

The federal agency issued the previously unreported lien in November 2018 and it seeks unpaid taxes for a year in which Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, served on the boards of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings and the Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners.

“We have made a demand for payment of this liability, but it remains unpaid,” the IRS stated in the lien notice, which it filed with the Washington, D.C., Recorder of Deeds. “Therefore, there is a lien in favor of the United States on all property and rights to property belonging to this taxpayer for the amount of these taxes.”

The tax lien was issued against Hunter Biden and his ex-wife, Kathleen Biden, but was delivered to the same address Hunter Biden has on file with Connecticut’s Judicial Branch, an address that is also linked to his law firm, Owasco PC.

It does not appear that Hunter Biden has resolved his tax debt to the IRS. No corresponding lien release form has been filed with the Washington, D.C., Recorder of Deeds. [emphasis added]
