McConnell Slams Door On Pelosi Bid To Influence Senate On Impeachment

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is clearly fed up with Nancy Pelosi's brazen efforts to dictate the rules in the upper chamber of Congress.
In remarks delivered on Friday, the Kentucky Republican blasted Madame Speaker's power play as a "fantasy" and a "non-starter" in slamming the door on her perception of having  influence outside of her domain.

McConnell ripped Pelosi's sitting on the two articles of impeachment that Democrats celebrated before Christmas and sent a clear message that if and when she performs her constitutional duty, that the adults will assume control of the process.
As McConnell put it - their turn is over and they've done enough damage.

.@Senatemajldr on House Democrats: "Their turn is over. They've done enough damage. It’s the Senate’s turn now to render sober judgment as the framers envisioned."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, speaking from the chamber’s floor Friday, rejected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s efforts to shape a pending impeachment trial as “fantasy”—leaving the process at a standstill as lawmakers return from the holiday recess.
“Their turn is over. They’ve done enough damage. It’s the Senate’s turn now to render sober judgment,” McConnell, R-Ky., said on the Senate floor.
But he stressed that the chamber cannot hold a trial unless and until the House of Representatives transmits the two articles of impeachment adopted last month, accusing President Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress pertaining to his dealings with Ukraine. Pelosi, D-Calif., has held onto them in a bid to seek favorable terms for a trial, including the involvement of certain Democrat-sought witnesses.
McConnell called Pelosi’s effort to “hand-design” the proceedings in the Senate a “non-starter” and a “fantasy.”
This comes after weeks of having his character attacked by an unscrupulous and vicious media and signals that the new year will be marked by intensifying tensions between the two leaders.
McConnell also put Madame Speaker and Senate Democrats on blast via Twitter with a series of missives making it clear that the Senate will continue doing its own work regardless of Pelosi's hostage taking.
He also delivered a history lesson by invoking the Founding Fathers and their intent that the Senate be a bulwark against the angry lynch mob in the House.
The framers built the Senate to provide a check against the short-termism, the runaway passions, and the “the demon of faction” that Hamilton warned would “extend his sceptre” over the House of Representatives “at certain seasons.”
We exist because the founders wanted an institution that could stop momentary hysterias and partisan passions from damaging our Republic. An institution that could be thoughtful, be sober, and take the long view.

And topped it off with a double whammy of ripping the slipshod impeachment articles as well as calling Pelosi and her minions chicken.
We exist because the founders wanted an institution that could stop momentary hysterias and partisan passions from damaging our Republic. An institution that could be thoughtful, be sober, and take the long view.
If the House ever musters the courage to stand behind their slapdash work product and transmit their impeachment to the Senate, it will be time for the United States Senate to fulfill our founding purpose.

As for Pelosi? She tripled down on the constitutional crisis that she has set into motion by accusing McConnell of violating his oath of office and promoting the new Democrat conspiracy theory that he's acting as President Trump's accomplice in a cover-up.

Defending Donald Trump from impeachment, Mitch McConnell just delivered a screed against reflexive partisanship and changing one's positions based on the whims of the political moment.
Nancy Pelosi accuses Mitch McConnell of "doubling down on his violation of his oath" in order to protect Trump.

"Today, Leader McConnell made clear that he will feebly comply with President Trump’s cover-up of his abuses of power and be an accomplice to that cover-up."

According  to a statement issued by Team Pelosi:
“Today, Leader McConnell made clear that he will feebly comply with President Trump’s cover-up of his abuses of power and be an accomplice to that cover-up"
“Leader McConnell is doubling down on his violation of his oath, even after the exposure of new, deeply incriminating documents this week which provide further evidence of what we know: President Trump abused the power of his office for personal, political gain,"
Not a good start to the new year for nervous Nancy who is beginning to show signs of cracking under pressure.

GHISLAINE MAXWELL HAS SOME “SERIOUS DIRT” ON SOME VERY “POWERFUL PEOPLE”

GHISLAINE MAXWELL HAS SOME “SERIOUS DIRT” ON SOME VERY “POWERFUL PEOPLE”

Former Epstein “madam,” Ghislaine Maxwell, has been on the run, and evading the law, because—according to a friend – she has some “serious dirt” on a lot of “powerful people.
Ghislaine has been widely accused of supplying a string of young and underage females to Epstein for his sexual gratification. The friend, who has been identified as Laura Goldman,  says that Maxwell believes she can evade being prosecuted in connection with Epstein because of what she knows about some of his depraved dalliances that also involved some very high-profile people.

Ghislaine is “totally convinced” that she can stay in hiding, and is currently being protected by a coterie of rich friends who are even said to be paying her legal bills.
Goldman told U.K. newspaper, The Sun, that Ghislaine is texting friends from her secret hideaway.
Goldman, who was friends with both Maxwell and her sister Isabel, told The Sun, “Ghislaine and her sister Isabel remain totally convinced that she’ll escape any criminal convictions and will eventually clear the family name and return to high society” once the dust has settled.
“She obviously has some serious dirt on someone to be so sure of herself in the circumstances,” Goldman said.
Epstein’s connections included some of the most powerful people in the world, such as Bill Clinton and Donald Trump. Ghislaine (pronounced “Gillayne” with a hard “g”) introduced Epstein to Prince Andrew, whom she had once dated.
Goldman, a former New York City stockbroker who used to mix in the same circles as Epstein and Maxwell, before cutting them both off after the financier’s first arrest in 2008, told The Sun, “She has wealthy connections who hide her and even pay some legal fees. She can stay out of the public eye as long as she wants.”
Goldman also told The Sun that Maxwell doesn’t believe she has done anything wrong, but was “relieved” when she heard of Epstein’s death, saying that, “It may have placed her more in the spotlight, but at least he couldn’t turn on her.”
Ghislaine Maxwell has only been photographed once since the scandal surrounding Epstein erupted again this year with his arrest, allowing herself to be snapped at a burger joint in Los Angeles.
