I waited all day for someone to bring me Eucharist yesterday. I'm sad that they missed me last week too. Not sure what to do about it, since I'm quite a distance from anyone, don't drive and am disabled. I hate to bother people. Please pray for me, and God bless you.
BTW, I too keep Christmas until later than most. People are surprised that I still have all my things up. Nice to find others do this too. Take care of your cold, bless your heart. Lemon, chicken soups, lot's of liquids!

Report: Iran promises revenge over death of Soleimani, points to some 35 US targets in region

Report: Iran promises revenge over death of Soleimani, points to some 35 US targets in region

January 5, 2020

In response to a series of provocations from Iran, President Donald Trump ordered an airstrike on Thursday that killed top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, who was deemed responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans in Iraq and countless others across the region.
Unsurprisingly, the authoritarian Iranian regime in Tehran is furious over the loss of its top military general — and now, Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has vowed that “revenge awaits,” according to the Washington ExaminerAnother top Iranian general has also threatened to strike some 35 American targets in the Middle East as retaliation, the Examiner reports.

Iran vows revenge

Khamenei’s vow of “revenge” was to be expected, and the chants of “Death to America!” from regime supporters in Iran, Iraq, and elsewhere in the region are nothing new. But the mention of specific American targets in the Middle East that could be struck by Iran is a bit unusual.
Those threats came from Iranian Gen. Gholamali Abuhamzeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps contingent in the southern Iran province of Kerman, The Jerusalem Post reported.

The most likely target, as mentioned by Abuhamzeh, are ships moving through the narrow Strait of Hormuz that connects the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. The area serves as a vital trade route for oil and other goods moving in and out of the Middle East.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital point for the West and a large number of American destroyers and warships cross there…vital American targets in the region have been identified by Iran since long time ago,” Abuhamzeh said, according to Reuters.

The Iranian general added that “some 35 U.S. targets in the region, as well as Tel Aviv, are within our reach.”

A warning to Iran

The threat against Tel Aviv in Israel would likely involve Iran’s proxy terror group, Hezbollah, in neighboring Lebanon — and as if on cue, a top Hezbollah official said there would be “decisive” action taken against American targets and interests by the Iran-backed “axis of resistance” that includes proxies in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.
Aside from trade ships and attacks against Israel, other potential targets around the region include numerous strategic military bases and diplomatic compounds, as well as the thousands of soldiers, agents, analysts, and diplomats who are deployed to such locations.
U.S. President Donald Trump has not been sitting idle in the face of such threats, however. He took to Twitter on Saturday to let Tehran know in no uncertain terms that it would ultimately regret launching any sort of retaliatory strikes against America or American interests in the region.

“Let this serve as a warning that if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets, we have…targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level [and] important to Iran [and] the Iranian culture,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets, “and those targets, and Iran itself, will be hit very fast and very hard. The USA wants no more threats!”
Whether Iran will follow through on its threats to exact revenge against America for the death of Soleimani or heed President Trump’s warning remains to be seen.

Graham Gives Pelosi Ultimatum, Threatens To Remove Her From Process

Graham Gives Pelosi Ultimatum, Threatens To Remove Her From Process

After months of barring House Republicans from taking part in closed-door hearings in the basement of Congress and refusing to even allow Republicans to select a single witness in the impeachment charade -- Democrats are now trying to make demands for the Senate trial.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is refusing to send the articles of impeachment to the GOP-controlled Senate.

But Senate Judiciary Committee Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham has other ideas, telling Pelosi that is she does not transmit the articles by the end of the week, the Senate should "take matters in our own hands."
During an interview on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," Graham accused Pelosi of playing political games and trying to exert control over the Senate trial by keeping it from starting.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated last week the chamber's rules prevented him from doing anything until Pelosi does her part, but Graham proposed a solution that could remove what McConnell has called an "impasse" in the process.
"What I would do, if she continues to refuse to send the articles as required by the Constitution, I would work with Senator McConnell to change the rules of the Senate so we could start the trial without her, if necessary," Graham proposed.
When asked how long he would wait before taking this step, Graham replied, "Days, not weeks."
Graham justified this by claiming Pelosi was engaging in a "political stunt" by holding off on sending the impeachment articles to the Senate, weeks after they were approved by a House vote.
He said McConnell would not let her dictate how events unfold.
"Well, we’re not going to let Nancy Pelosi use the rules of the Senate to her advantage. This is dangerous to the presidency as an institution," Graham said.
Graham added: "They impeached the president, but the speaker of the House is holding the articles back, trying to extort from the majority leader of the Senate a trial to her liking. They’re trying to hold these articles over the head of the president."
The South Carolina lawmaker then detailed how he thinks the trial to go, allowing both sides to present arguments before determining whether witnesses were needed.
"We’ll use the Clinton model, where you take the record established in the House, let the House managers appointed by Pelosi make the argument, let the president make his argument why the two articles are flawed, and then we’ll decide whether we want witnesses. But this should be done in a couple of weeks," he said.
Graham expressed hope the Senate could conclude the impeachment trial before the end of January, but reiterated that this may require the Senate to push Pelosi out of the equation.
"If we don’t get the articles this week, then we need to take matters in our own hands and change the rules, deem them to be delivered to the Senate so we can start the trial, invite the House over to participate if they would like," he said. "If they don’t come, dismiss the case and get on with governing the country."
Beyond that, it's about time the Republicans stood up to this phony impasse.

Despite not testifying in front of the committees investigating Trump in the House former National Security Adviser John Bolton has confirmed that he will testify at Trump's impeachment trial in the Senate if he is subpoenaed.

According to Politico:
Former national security adviser John Bolton said that he would testify if he is subpoenaed as part of the Senate’s impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

In a statement posted online, Bolton, who was asked to testify as part of the House's impeachment inquiry but did not, said he wants to meet his “obligations” both as a citizen and as a former top presidential adviser.

“Since my testimony is once again at issue, I have had to resolve the serious competing issues as best I could, based on careful consideration and study,” Bolton wrote. “I have concluded that, if the Senate issues a subpoena for my testimony, I am prepared to testify.”
It is unclear what information Bolton could provide and if it will help the Democrat's case against the President. It also remains unclear if Senator Mitch McConnell will allow Bolton to be subpoenaed.

London murder rate hits highest levels in over a decade under Mayor Sadiq Khan

January 5, 2020 by Jerry McCormick

London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, has had some rather harsh words for Trump since elected to office. But perhaps he should take care of his own backyard first.
According to Breitbart, London just experienced its worst murder rate of the decade in 2019, with 149 untimely deaths.

Violence in London

According to The Guardian, Khan has slammed Trump on his travel bans, immigration orders, and just about everything else you can imagine.
When Trump came to England on an official state visit, Khan boycotted the events (although it was unclear if he was ever actually invited) and stated the Queen never should have rolled out the red carpet for him.
?
Trump has responded in kind, offering criticisms of the violence that has taken place under Khan’s watch.
Last year, 149 people were murdered in London, the most since 154 were killed in 2008. This was also a significant increase over 2018, when 135 people were killed in the city.

What people really need to pay attention to, though, is how these murders were committed. According to reports, the majority of these murders were stabbing incidents. In all, the report stated that 90 were killed with knives, up from a high of 55 in 2014.
The city sees thousands of violent crimes involving knives each year, with many of those ending with critical injuries or death.

The wrong direction

Liberals are not going to want to hear this, but Donald Trump is not the reason the world is becoming a more violent place.
London is a perfect example. Despite some of the strictest gun control laws in the world, the homicide rates continue to climb. London experiences an average of 40 crimes involving knives each day, proving that evil always finds a way to do evil.

What’s worse is that as critical as Khan has been of Trump, he does not have a clue how to stop the violence in his own city, despite the population of Khan’s city being less than one percent of the population of the U.S.
Residents of the city are noticing too. Khan will be challenged in the next election by conservative Shaun Bailey; only time will tell how long Khan keeps the keys to the city.
