The archbishop of San Francisco speaks of poor catechesis on the Eucharist, while the archbishop of D.C. and other prelates disagree on admitting Joe Biden to Holy Communion.
San Francisco archbishop Salvatore Cordileone on Thursday discussed worthy reception of Holy Communion.
"We have a bigger problem, too, in that so many Catholics don't even understand the concept of worthiness to receive Communion — be in a state of grace. And before COVID, I often questioned how many people just nonchalantly go up to receive Communion when they're really not supposed to be."
Cordileone is local ordinary to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a self-identifying Catholic who opposes a host of Church teachings, which raises another issue.
"People who are manifestly — and prominent [individuals] — going against Church teaching, going against these basic values, there's a heightened issue in terms of the scandal it causes," he said.
Meanwhile, Cdl. Wilton Gregory of D.C. clarified in November that he will follow his predecessors, disgraced prelates Theodore McCarrick and Donald Wuerl, who administered Holy Communion to Joe Biden.
Gregory touted Pope Francis' Church-in-dialogue mantra, saying he wants a conversational relationship with Biden "where we can discover areas where we can cooperate that reflect the social teachings of the Church, knowing full well that there are some areas where we won't agree."
But Philadelphia's archbishop emeritus, Charles Chaput, blasted this dereliction of duty.
"When bishops publicly announce their willingness to give Communion to Mr. Biden without clearly teaching the gravity of his facilitating the evil of abortion — and his approval of same-sex relationships — they do a serious disservice to their brother bishops and their people," he said.
He emphasized Biden should not be given Holy Communion.
"Mr. Biden has demonstrated that he is not in full communion with the Catholic Church," Chaput said.
Denver archbishop Samuel Aquila agreed wholeheartedly.
"Archbishop Chaput speaks the truth for the salvation of souls. The scandal and confusion are real, and when we don't treat the Eucharist with love and reverence, our faith is weakened in the Real Presence."
Canon 915 of the Catholic Church's Code of Canon Law obliges pastors to deny Holy Communion to those publicly and obstinately persevering in grave sin.
This leaves some wondering: If public dissenters from the Faith like Biden and Pelosi don't fit that bill, who does?
Talk is cheap. What will it take for these have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too bishops to finally EXCOMMUNICATE one of these heretics? Will bishops have to start disappearing, like they do in China, before they develop a spine?
Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, Durban, and their ilk, together with certain wicked and cowardly clergy, without a doubt see the political advantage of appearing to remain in the Church, even if not in "full communion" (a phrase denoting compromise if there ever was one), thereby giving to the world the appearance of controversy within the Church regarding Her teachings and weakening Her uncompromising moral witness. Regarding the relevant teachings, there are no controversies within the Church--just check out the witness of the Church Triumphant, which the Church Militant cannot contradict--and the Church does not compromise, even while She is "pastoral". So, at whatever level of consciousness (for God to judge), these bad actors are motivated to remain "in" the Church to weaken Her, distort Her image, and compromise Her authority before the world. Blatant evil!
Joe Biden reportedly did receive Holy Communion yesterday at Mass in Washington, D.C. after just announcing his efforts to support abortion earlier that week.
Holy Communion = Common Union with Church teaching and beliefs. Those politicians who support issues against Church teaching are not in common union. What is so difficult to understand ? As such they are not worthy to receive Holy Communion. Instead they should be allowed to receive an unworthy Communion and to perform a hypocritical action in the name of Jesus Christ ? How much more will be tolerated by Our Lord? God have mercy on us.
You are Right on! Present Catholic Church hierarchy from PF down to the USCCB have betrayed Catholic Church Doctrine and Jesus Christ himself for allowing the abomination of CINO politicians who continue to allow the murder of infants inside and even outside of their mothers wombs by voting for pro abortion laws TO CONTINUE TO RECEIVE THE EUCHARIST!
Your saying not only Joe Biden, but Nancy Pelosi, Tim Kaine and their democrats cohorts (especially Supreme Court Justices) should be denied Holy Communion until they, collective, denounce abortions on demand and return homosexuals to their respective closets.
Biden's own Delaware ordinaray has just had open heart surgery. Here's hoping he recovers so to gain time to repent for his derelection of a dozen+ years. How can he bank on a happy reception on the other side when he's not done squat to defend the sanctity of either the Eucharist or of the Faith itself and with national and even international implications?
Kudos to Archbishop Cordileone, Cardinal Chapultepec, and Archbishop Aquila! ✝️🙂👍Shame on Wilton Gregory. 😠 👎 The pastor of my Catholic Church preaches that people should not get communion if they have mortal sin. He says we should be in a state of Grace. He’s a great pastor.
What is the Mass at which Biden is given Holy Communion? The priest saying such a mass is actually trampling on the Gospels and the 10 Commandments. This de facto becomes a satanic rite. The so-called joint services with Protestants, followers of Judaism and paczamama worshipers have a similar meaning.
You know what, I am sickened by these stupid and harmful to the Souls of others, discussions. There is no doubt that Biden and Pelosi are not in Communion with the Holy Catholic Church, period. Stop dancing around the issue of sin and stop letting them receive the Holy Eucharist, period. They have publicly stated their positions on infanticide, abortion, contraception, homosexuality, and transgenderism. All of which are against the teachings of the Catholic Church and all of them mortally sinful, period. If they don't stop this aggravating up and back decisions, they are jus too week to be in charge of the Catholic Church. They are causing public scandal, so the rules are to publicly excommunicate them. Do the Bishops realize what they are doing to the Catholic youth by not just standing their ground on this? Both Biden and Pelosi have the opportunity to repent, so it is they who are responsible for their Souls. Just deny them the Holy Eucharist already. God help us. What in the world are you afraid of, losing some collection money, how sinful is that?
t too am tired of all this talk about '"discussions" and "meaningful dialogue". They are buzzwords to deflect from the serious issues ie. sodomite "marriage" and killing of the innocents. How long do these cowards think they can go on like this? My Bishop (Hying) is deafeningly silent on this. I will now be calling him daily. We as laity need to find out all the enablers of this sin are.
Indeed. Like a typical politician, he wears his “faith” on his sleeve as a shallow show, with no actual appreciation for any deeper meaning of a connection to the Divine, being hard-pressed to see anything more valuable than his temporal whims.
Not one penny of mine will go the church and their offices, even the good charitable causes will have nothing of mine. I tithe. I give my tithe to an orphanage in the 3rd world run by a husband and wife, people of no particular faith who live their lives in a more Godly way than our church chooses to at this time. For every good priest there are 2 dozen non-religious administrators and the odd reclusive pervert who deserve nothing whatsoever for their presence. Why tolerate them?
If we all did this in the west, the Church would be starved into returning to Catholicism again.
"So lets dialogue" says Cardinal Gregory while the person he is dialoging with has a soul that is in danger of being lost for eternity by his supporting demonic pre-born child killing. What is wrong with this picture? Obviously a shepherd who is not fulfilling his calling. He likely places his soul along the same road of perdition. Have you people no fear of eternal damnation ? I guess not.
Imagine the uproar and the opportunity if one of these sackless eunuchs stood up to the Pop Kult leaders and said 'no.' Imagine the respect gained by friends and enemies to these weak perfumed princes in purple. Why is it only the retirees who say something? Why did they not say more when they were working full time? Why are there only men without chests who talk endlessly about what should be done, while having done and doing nothing? Our weak bishops spend a lot of time criticizing each other for the exact same BS policy they carry out themselves. All we need is ONE of these power-mad piss-poor leaders to actually stand up to the secular leaders and say the damned words that Jesus taught us. Tell the truth and shame the devil.
Why worry about "worthiness to receive Communion"? It's only symbolic right? Show up in your flip-flops and tank top, grab a wafer, make the sign of the cross and you're good to go until next time 3/4/5 months down the road. Confession??? I remember that from grade school; do they still do that???
We have Confession in our Catholic Church 3 days a week. Very long lines! I know that’s unusual these days, though. Every Catholic Church should have Confession and long lines. ✝️🙏🏻
EXCOMMUNICATE all CINO politicians that vote or support pro choice abortion murder of infants! Otherwise there is no longer any Catholic Church Doctrine or Moral authority on abortion, any Catholic can vote for who they want with "moral" integrity.and receive the Eucharist, JUST LIKE CINO POLITICIANS CAN! Abortion morality is being pushed out of Catholic Church Doctrine along with homosexual sex and cohabitation of any sexuality..
The "ape" catholic Church prophesied in 1948 by Ven ABP Fulton J Sheen is in charge of morality now!
MOST HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, THEOTOKOS SAVE OUR CHURCH THAT GOD MADE YOU THE QUEEN OF! SAVE US ALSO!
Au contraire ! .... you have shown caring by calling the fool "a fool", and rightly so. This is powerful in itself because as we move on, the label remains behind with the nasty desire for baby slaughter. Lacking contrition and twisting in the winds of confusion and ignorance, the demonic clerics will simply be preaching to the fallen angels, which represent lesser numbers than those who understand their need of God, and whose support is equally meaningless. Shame the devils without ceasing because this is a tactic they employ and understand.
I would suggest that members of the USCCB who disagree with Cardinals Gregory, Cupich, Tobin and Dolan would resign from the battered USCCB. They need to remove themselves from the USCCB and organize an organization that is respect by practicing conservative pro-life Catholics. Either that, or kick the liberal modernist prelates out of the current USCCB and restore credibility.
ABp. Viganó outed these imposters quite thoroughly over two years ago and nothing in the public record has surfaced to change or contradict him since. The moral forces behind Biden and Bergoglio think they are winning the culture based on the things they think are important, but this just goes to show their dark heart. - "If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him" (1 John 2:15, D-R)
The USCCB is all the bishops that comprise all the US dioceses. If it starts breaking up into factions along political/doctrinal lines, then what do we have? Should they start choosing saint mascots to represent their affiliations: The bishops of St. Francis? The bishops of St Michael? And then Catholics can choose which bishops to follow?
If they did agree to split we could have the USCCB and another group we might call the USCMB, the one Catholic the other Modernist (as in that synthesis of all heretical new church ideas). A nice thought experiment that would never happen as their only success is by subverting from within.
Right now Our Catholic Church is split into two theological Churches. The True Catholic Church hierarchy that believes in 2000 year old True Catholic Doctrines and the "ape" catholic Church that makes up its own Doctrines. Read the 1948 prophesy of Venerable Fulton J Sheen about a future "ape" catholic Church. Also read the last prophesy of Saint Francis of Assisi about a future pope.
I wonder how many prelates wish they had never said, "Vote Your Conscience." In doing so they invited nearly a majority of voting catholics to elect pro-abortion Joe Biden. It is plausible that the near majority of catholics who elected Joe Biden are liberal pro-abortion modernists catholics.
Well, my Leftist run Diocese of Scranton is back in the news today. This time, a 30-year-old New Jersey man filed a lawsuit against the Diocese of Scranton, alleging a Priest sexually abused him for more than a decade. (That's more than 10 years for you Biden Voters out there.)
The lawsuit, filed in Lackawanna County Court, alleges the Diocesan Priest began abusing the boy in 1995, when he was 5. The abuse continued until 2002, when Priest was finally relieved of his duties.
The lawsuit does not identify the victim.
According to the suit, the Homo-Predator Priest was a frequent flier at the boy's home when he was a child, as well as the homes of alledged Victim's grandmother and great-grandmother. He also served as a spiritual advisor to the Victim boy-man.
And some people think Epstein and Ghislaine were more scandalous than our local Diocese? These kinds of stories continue to make the local Newspapers.
Yeah but you never heard Epstein or Ghislaine speak out for normalizing pedophilia??. Well, in spite of our Diocese having numerous Homo-predator Priests (the ones that got caught) throughout the decades, the constant apologies and usual handwringing, for the media, our Leftist Bishop had the brazen attitude to invite Jimmy Brokeback Martin SJ into our Diocese 4 times over the years, in spite of Parishioner pushback and rosaries. The whole Church is basically a Homo-predator crime scene that stretches for 100s of miles, not blocks. Butt.. we have the likes of Cdl.Sewag...er.. Cupich and Wilted Gregory and others who've attempt to normalize the sexuality of homosexuality within the Church. Does the Bishop of Scranton have Rainbow flags and Rainbow Priestly vestments for special LGBTQ Agenda Masses in the Scranton Diocese? I wouldn't doubt it. He even has a Imam yodeling the Muslim call to prayer before the Catholic Mass. See how eccuminism, " Dialoging" and compromising has slowly but surely screwed up our entire Church over the decades? Some folks were worried about losing a few Stain Glass Windows in their Churches and the Railings at the onset of Vatican 2. Well, the old Catholics back then never saw this crap coming.
The Church is off it's Rocket Man Rocker.
“Compromise is not a dirty word, it’s how our government is designed to work,” Biden told the National Education Association last July. “I’ve done it my whole life.” - Sniffy Joe Biden
The centurion who declared that, “ this truly was the son of God” would most likely kick this scandalous group of sadducees of biden, pelosi, Kerry, walsh, John roberts right off golgotha. Too bad we don’t have any bishops with the same faith willing to do so.

Canonical appeals may save Chicago's parishes, churches

Chicago (ChurchMilitant.com) - Chicago cardinal Blase Cupich a few years back introduced a campaign called "Renew my Church." And while Chicago's faithful say the program has decimated the Church in Chicago — shuttering many parishes and houses of worship — many of them remain unaware of their legal rights to stop it.
One Chicago Catholic, after listening to paid hacks explaining to his parish how great "Renewal" was going to be for the Faith and Chicago, quipped for all to hear, "This should really be called 'Bulldoze my Churches!' All they have talked about for the past hour has been about the closure and amalgamation of parishes; they are not going to renew or rebuild anything!"
Eight canonical appeals would prevent church buildings from falling out of sacred use and being sold for secular purposes
Numerous other Chicago informants, when discussing the archdiocese of Chicago's "Renew my Church" project, readily used the pejorative phrase "Wreck my Church."
Church Militant has reported testimonies from parishes that have scrambled financially to save their parishes only to see the archdiocese close them down and pocket the funds. Another report noted the cost of sex abuse settlements may be driving the trend; the archdiocese's bond rating has been downgraded in light of a weakened financial state.
Whatever is afoot, parishioners are struggling to determine if they can save what's left.
Canon Law: Fighting the Closures
Brody Hale is a practicing civil attorney who, as part of his work as president of the St. Stephen Protomartyr Project, has taken on the behemoth project of fighting needless Church closures worldwide.
He made the observation recently when discussing the massive number of church closures being foisted upon Chicago Catholics by their cardinal, "Cupich would have St. Francis arrested today if he were to gather bricks and attempt to repair any Chicago Catholic church. Cardinal Cupich does not seem interested in rebuilding or restoring any sanctuary; he seems only to be interested in destroying them."
As of Jan. 28, 2021, Hale has helped 17 groups of Chicagoland Catholics file canonical appeals with various tribunals at the Holy See in Rome. The appeals ask that the rights of the faithful to maintain the churches that their forefathers built and their right to worship within them be respected.
Most Catholics do not know they have any rights under Church law. Tweet
Hale went on to say that, tragically, most Catholics do not know they have any rights under Church law and that ordinaries like Cdl. Cupich have run "rip shod" over their canonical rights. Most parishes closed Cdl. Cupich prior to Jan. 1, 2021 are in poor neighborhoods in Chicago and its suburbs.
Appeals in Process
Seventeen parishes and churches in the archdiocese of Chicago have appeals pending at some stage or another of the canonical appeal process.
The archdiocese of Chicago
There are nine appeals against parish closures, all of which (except two) are pending before the Congregation for the Clergy:
Holy Cross-Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Chicago (Back of the Yards)
St. Cornelius Parish, Chicago (Jefferson Park)
St. Gerard Majella Parish, Markham, Illinois
St. Maria Goretti Parish, Schiller Park, Illinois
St. Matthias Parish, Chicago (Lincoln Square), pending before the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura
St. Michael (Slovak) Parish, Chicago (Back of the Yards)
St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr (Polish) Parish, Chicago
St. Thecla Parish, Chicago (Jefferson Park)
St. Wenceslaus Parish, Chicago (Avondale), pending before Cardinal Cupich
Eight appeals are against "church" closures, defined canonically as "relegations to profane but not sordid use." This means the buildings will no longer be used for sacred worship and can be sold by the diocese for any secular use except one that is unbecoming, immoral or offensive to Catholics. These churches have appeals pending in Rome, but their parishes have already been eliminated. All are pending before the Congregation for the Clergy, except one:
St. Adalbert Church, Chicago (Pilsen) pending before the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura
St. Anthony of Padua Church, Chicago (Bridgeport)
St. Bride Church, Chicago (South Shore)
St. Columba Church, Chicago (Hegewisch)
St. Frances de Sales Church, Chicago (Hegewisch)
St. George Church, Chicago (Southeast Side)
St. Maurice Church, Chicago (McKinley Park)
St. Victor Church, Calumet City
One Church Militant informant said her parish was being closed by the archdiocese because it did not reach the capricious "benchmarks" set by the archdiocese in its "Renewal" program:
My parish, at just under the $750,000 in annual Sunday contributions was not "viable," and additionally we were short 100 parishioners for their 800 minimum census requirement.
My parish will never come to the Arch's required $750K in Sunday contributions because, as a predominantly poor Latino parish, our parishioners just don't have it to give. Many of our parish families can barely make their rent and put food on their dinner table.
The Archdiocese's "Renew my Church" program, with its capricious and arbitrary benchmarks thought up by some paid consultants, are by design being used to close all Chicago's poor parishes. Give this renewal program another year and there will be no more parishes in Chicago's poor neighborhoods and the poor will be left without even God."
To exacerbate this sad scenario playing out in Chicago, Cdl. Cupich just this past weekend announced a new round of additional church closures and amalgamations, much to the chagrin of the faithful still reeling from months of Wuhan virus-related closures.
Fr. Steve Kanonik explains how his parish is experiencing "Renew My Church"
As printed in the Chicago Tribune this past Saturday:
Officials at the archdiocese of Chicago say mounting debt and declining enrollment will lead to the shuttering of four suburban Catholic schools and the consolidation of dozens of parishes in the months ahead. The downsizing is part of the Renew My Church initiative that started in 2018 amid financial pressures.
This new spate of church closures being forecast for the archdiocese of Chicago by its cardinal is not a done deal. Hale has assembled a group of faithful and faith-filled Catholics on the ground in Chicago working hands-on to stay the cardinal's hand.
Parishioners Appeal, Assess the Damage
Julie Sawicki, with "Save Our Chicago Catholic Churches" and who serves as president of the Society of St. Adalbert, just this week was successful in helping a group of Catholics file an appeal for St. Wenceslaus' Parish on Chicago's northwest side. It is slated for permanent closure.
"I got six signatures for the appeal Tuesday evening from St. Wenceslaus' parishioners. They are all so upset!" she explained. "They all asked why they were not made aware of the opportunity to appeal. The pastor, moreover, told parishioners at holy Mass that only the school is closing."
Parishioners are angry that their options were not explained to them.Tweet
Sawicki cited what, in her perception, is playing out on the ground in Chicago:
Chicago communities are reeling from violence, and instead of being part of the solution, the archdiocese is instead shuttering its doors and abandoning the faithful at a time when help is needed most
The consolidation is all about money, when financially stable churches are being closed and developers are invited to submit offers for churches while Catholic faithful who wish to care for their churches are being ignored
Parishioners are angry that their options were not explained to them, specifically that a parish, church and parishioners have rights under canon law that are being ignored by Catholic leadership
It is difficult to be a Catholic when the focus has been on raising money and not about strengthening the Faith or evangelizing
It is unclear why parishes are not their own legal entities but owned by the bishop of Chicago — a layer of bureaucracy with the existence of a diocese when it is different elsewhere in the world
Church Militant's Resistance members in Chicago have also rallied to stay Cdl. Cupich's hand in numerous church closures. Resistance members have been encouraged to pledge their support for Chicago Catholics who reside in parishes slated for closure by posting simple signs in their front windows and vehicles. Some of the signs feature the mottos:
"Poor parishes matter!"
"Chicago needs its parishes!"
"My 'given parish name' is vital!"
"Don't bulldoze my parish!"
"Catholic churches are essential to Chicago!"
Resistance volunteers have been adamant about the importance of making the plight of Chicago Catholics known to the greater U.S. Catholic community. They warn that if Cdl. Cupich gets away with bulldozing numerous Chicago churches, other bad prelates will follow his bad example in their respective dioceses.
