The company announced in February that it will slash $5.5 billion in operating expenses, which included $3 billion in content spending. Disney explained the move as necessary to cut costs and revitalize the company’s failing financial health.
He added the sweeping measure will result in “a more effective, coordinated, and streamlined approach” for Disney. He said the struggling company will start notifying employees who are losing their jobs this week.
A second and more significant round of layoffs will commence next month “with several thousand more staff reductions.” Iger said the process will be completed before the start of summer.
The sweeping changes will be absorbed by multiple major divisions, including Disney Entertainment, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, as well as corporate. Cable sports network ESPN will reportedly not be affected by the initial round of cuts but will be involved in later actions.
Iger said that many who will be affected “bring a lifelong passion for Disney” to their jobs.
A source confirmed that one of the first targeted areas will be television production and acquisition departments. It is reported that several senior executive positions are on the chopping block.
Some believe that “guest-facing” services at Walt Disney World Resorts in Orlando will not be affected. The industry already grapples with labor shortages for these positions, and union leaders believe it is not wise to lay off workers who come face-to-face with spending customers.
Disney, of course, set its own course toward this day of reckoning. The company pursued a path that upset millions of parents and several prominent political leaders. Now many are reassessing the role the traditional family entertainment company plays in their families.
Further, the company insists on destroying its relationship with young families by inserting woke indoctrination and messaging into what should be innocent fare. It is no wonder that the company is struggling, and only by abandoning this woke path will it recover what was lost.

(ConservativeSense.com) – Research conducted by corporate accountability group Ekō has found that TikTok, the Chinese video-sharing app, is targeting young people and inundating them with videos featuring suicide, as well as deeply misogynistic ideas.
The app’s algorithms are extremely sensitive and promote increasingly extreme content on to very young users. The research found that watching only 10 videos on a particular topic will produce a list of recommendations along the same vein and with no limit on the extremity.
Particularly prevalent in the research was the “incel community” that has a strong and growing presence online. Incels are men who unite around their lack of success with women and promote an extremely misogynistic belief system. The study was conducted by volunteers opening nine new accounts. They listed their age as 13 and then set about searching for incel content. They were very quickly bombarded with subject matter that was more and more extreme.
Videos endorsing suicide were included in the content related to the incel clips, and these led the researchers toward a barrage of equally disturbing recordings. Maen Hammad, the co-author of the study, said, “The algorithm forces you into a spiral of depression, hopelessness, and self-harm, and it’s terribly difficult to get out of that spiral once the algorithm thinks it knows what you want to see.”
TikTok has been described as a hazard by senior figures across the American political and law enforcement structure. The leaders of both the FBI and CIA have called it a security threat, largely because of its ability to gather data on users and its highly advanced algorithms. Federal employees have been banned from having the app on their government-issued devices, and this action has also been taken by the European Union and the United Kingdom.
The app has been banned outright in some countries including its once-largest marketplace India, as well as some Islamic countries which have described it as incompatible with their values.

The Parents’ Bill of Rights Act narrowly passed the House, with not a single Democrat voting in favor of it and five Republicans voting against it. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made the legislation one of his major priorities as Republicans have promised, and said they were keeping that promise and their “commitment to America, that parents will have a say in their kids’ education.”
The bill requires public schools to publish their course studies; a list of books contained in the school libraries; and grants parents the unimpeded ability to meet with educators, speak at board meetings, and to be able to examine where the money in school budgets is going. Democrat Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, said the bill proves that House Republicans are controlled by “hard right MAGA ideologues” and vowed that it would face a “dead end” on the Senate floor. Democrats derided the bill as the “Politics over Parents Act,” believing it’s pushing the views of a vocal minority in order to police public school classrooms.
Whether or not LGBTQ-related subjects and critical race theory (CRT), commonly grouped together under the “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) curriculum, should be taught in schools has become one of the most contentious subjects in the country.
Just last week, Project Veritas exposed a New York superintendent on hidden camera admitting he was “covertly” pushing DEI curriculum in public schools, which resulted in a heavy backlash by parents at school board meetings.
