Readers will be stunned by these latest woke literary makeovers

First Dr. Seuss was canceled.

Then they came for ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.’

The woke left is on a mission to erase classic literature and there’s seemingly no stopping the total woke literary makeover.

Modern publishers are trying to rewrite history.

It is not enough to rewrite our textbooks or knock down historical monuments and memorials.

Turns out even 007 isn’t even safe from radical wokeness anymore.

“Sensitivity readers” rewriting the classics

James Bond, agent 007 created by the late great Ian Fleming is going under the microscope of “sensitivity readers,” along with classic works. This revisionist literary history is enough to leave anyone shaken – and stirred.

The politically correct rewriting of famous authors like Roald Dahl and Ian Fleming seems to be the beginning.

The latest?

Entire series of Agatha Christie mystery novels are being rewritten.Christie passed away in 1976 but left us with classics such as ‘Death on the Nile,’ ‘Murder on the Orient Express,’ and the Miss Marple mysteries.

The hordes of sensitivity readers are creating new editions of these classics.

AGATHA CHRISTIE BOOKS GET WOKE MAKEOVER, JOIN ROALD DAHL AND IAN FLEMING

What does that mean for readers?

The text is rewritten to minimize offense to modern readers.

Why is this a problem?

It’s literal destruction of literature

These books are a snapshot in time. They show the thinking and language used at the time.

The new editions will potentially be less offensive to some, but also less descriptive and less intriguing to readers.

Anyone can stream Disney+ right now and read the mandatory disclaimer before watching stereotypes in films like “Peter Pan” and “Dumbo.”

Not the best use of 30 seconds, but at least one can still watch them in their original form.

But in the Agatha Christie rewrites?

References to race and ethnicity are being removed.

Describing someone as African or a Jew is now considered offensive in the woke age.

Even if someone is an African or a Jew.

Imagine going into your local city art museum and repainting over a famous canvas to remove any trace of someone being offended.

The original artist would be offended with someone repainting, or retelling, their scene for the sake of not offending a modern audience.

The same goes for literary characters – removing their descriptions without the author’s permission destroys the original intention behind the published work.

And the “sensitivity readers” are literally exercising in stereotyping when trying to identify offensive language in literature.

These “sensitivity readers” have become the new literary gatekeepers for modern publishers.

The irony is staring everyone in the face.

Orwel warned us this was coming, and now its even happening to him

The greatest irony comes with the announcement of a feminist retelling of the George Orwell novel, ‘1984.’

Recall in this book that “Newspeak” was termed.

This term in the book referred to the process of dates being altered, streets and statues being renamed, and of course, books being rewritten.

In the modern woke age, the political left has looked to rewriting history to change our culture.

And unfortunately for readers, this means taking a lot of the color out of otherwise compelling stories.

This fascination with policing literary language has no end in sight.

With that thought, read this popular children’s book: ‘If you give a mouse a cookie, he’ll want a glass of milk.’

And try reading it before it is canceled.

Informed American will keep you up-to-date on any developments to this ongoing story.

Top Republican takes on the Biden administration over new energy rules for mobile homes

Updated

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) is asking the Biden administration to delay new energy standards for mobile homes set to go into effect at the end of next month.

In a new letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm given exclusively to Yahoo Finance, Scott said “this costly and misguided regulation” will squeeze low-income Americans who will be “unfairly asked to bear the costs imposed by climate alarmists.”

The new rules require more insulation and energy-efficient windows, changes that will increase the costs of building the homes. But they will also save Americans hundreds of dollars on their electricity bills while also cutting nationwide carbon emissions by 80 million metric tons.

Monday’s letter from Scott, the ranking member of the Senate’s Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, is the latest salvo in a debate over mobile homes — which make up about 6% of housing stock in the U.S. — and climate change that has stretched on for years.

Energy savings vs increased manufacturing costs

Proposals to make these homes, formally called manufactured housing, greener were first debated during the Obama administration, but reached the implementation stage under Biden with an announcement in 2022.

At issue is how long it will take for the energy savings to make up for the increased costs of building the homes themselves.

In its final rule, the Department of Energy projects a price increase of less than $750 for single-section homes and $4,100-$4,500 for bigger manufactured homes — so-called double wides — that are subject to more stringent standards. It’s a significant increase in the costs of these homes, which are built on assembly lines, shipped to locations around the country, and usually sell for under $100,000.

The Department of Energy says individuals will save money in the long run because residents of single-section homes can expect to save an average of $177 per year in electricity costs, while occupants of multi-section homes will see savings of $475 per year.

The rules have led to a pushback from industry trade groups on whether the math from these “speculative" energy savings will ever add up after the administration acknowledged in its 2022 rule “that it has not fully enumerated testing and enforcement costs at this time."

On the other side of the debate, clean energy groups have argued that the less stringent requirements on single-section homes need to be increased.

Scott — who also appears to be edging closer to making a run for the presidency in 2024 — is seeking to delay and rethink the new rules, which he writes “are overly broad, unduly burdensome, and undermine commonsense efforts to increase supply and assist families looking for affordable housing opportunities.”

Either way, manufacturers of mobile homes are set to required to comply with the new standards after May 31, which marks one year since the rule was published.
