Morning Prayer to Brighten Our Day

Bible Reading: “He is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings grass from the earth” - 2 Samuel 23:4

Read or Listen Below:

Even Christians experience times when they feel like they have no good reason to get out of bed in the morning, days when they are dreading another 24 hours, but God has good news each morning. He supplies truth to brighten the day for all who believe in Him.

The wintery, stormy months when darkness covers more hours make days seem never-ending for weeks and months at a time. Christians may find themselves struggling to make it through another day.

But even in the darkest of days, each morning sunrise is a reminder of who God is and the brightness He brings to us. As Psalm 36:9 describes, “For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.”

He brings light and brightness to our lives each and every day. Because Jesus shines, we have reason to get out of bed each morning, so we don’t have to look around for a bright spot somewhere else in the world to motivate us.

Jesus Is Our Bright and Morning Star

Many believers in Christ have an unclear understanding of God’s divine character, often being influenced by the dark lords portrayed in films and books, but God isn’t dark and despairing, looming over us to keep us in check.

Rather, as Revelation 22:16 records, He is far from darkness: “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

In Jesus, there is no darkness, none to be found, ever. As Revelation 21:23 reveals, in heaven, “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.”

Every day, Jesus shines brightly as the Bright and Morning Star, and because He does, we’re given the opportunity to shine, too, no matter our daily situation or circumstances

Transformed by Jesus’ Light

During Jesus’ transfiguration on earth, we are given a glimpse of the light that shines from Him: “There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light” (Matthew 17:2).

As 2 Corinthians 4:6 explains, “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”

As Jesus shines brightly, His light transforms us from the inside out, like Ephesians 5:8 describes: “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.”

Called to Live as Children of Light

As children of light, Jesus reminds us when we rise in the morning, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14).

Belonging to Jesus means that we’re called to let His light shine through us because by doing so, God is glorified. “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Even on days that seem dreary and dark, or if darkness should cover the whole earth, we have His light shining within and through us, leading and guiding us in life. “When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’” (John 8:12).

Let’s Pray:
Dear Father, We praise You, O Lord, for Jesus, our Bright and Morning Star, who shines His light through the darkness of this world into our hearts. Fill our mouths each day to sing Your praises as we witness and experience Jesus’ brightness shine through the morning sunrises and after the rains that nourish our earth. Help us to look to Him each and every day to brighten our days and to shine His light brightly through us so that You may be glorified. Let His light shine through us to reach and encourage those around us who are held captive in darkness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Top 8 Significant Numbers in Biblical Numerology The Bible hides a lot of secret codes with sacred meaning. By Megan Bailey.

One essential way to connect with God is through critical analysis of His Word. One way to do this is through understanding and breaking down His use of Biblical numbers. There are connections and patterns throughout the Bible, and by researching them we see deeper meanings. The patterns do not exist by chance, but are specific to God’s design. Each has a specific symbolism attached. Here are the sacred codes and significant numbers in the Bible.

Number One

The number one is used frequently throughout the Bible. Most notably, it refers to God Himself as being the “one true God” with only one of Him. The first commandment echoes this, saying “thou shalt have no other gods besides Me” and again in Deuteronomy 6:4 which says “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one.”

God is also one with us. Instead of being two separate entities, God is always by our side and in our hearts. Whenever someone is alone in the wilderness in the Bible, whether it is Moses, or Elijah, or Jesus, they are not really alone. Rather they are closest they may ever be to the one true God than at that moment.

Number Two

Two is the symbol of unity in the Bible. For example, the man and the women became one flesh in Genesis 1:27. Animals were sacrificed in twos throughout the Old Testament, and the disciples and the apostles were sent out in twos (Matthew 6:7). This is God’s way of saying two people can be united together to share a common bond.

Number 22

The number 22 has a much more mathematical approach in the Bible. It is believe that the perfect shape is the circle, because it has no corners. Twenty two divided by seven is a good approximation of pi, or the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. From the first epistle to the end of the Bible holds 22 books, which can tie in with what is known as the Canon Wheel. The Bible can be divided into three sections of 22 books each. The first is comprised of Genesis to the Song of Solomon, the second from Isaiah to Acts, and the third from Romans to Revelation. The first may be thought of as representative of the Father, the second of the Son, and the third of the Spirit.

There are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet. Revelation ends the whole Bible on a 22nd chapter. If the patriarchs’ ages, as given in the Bible, are added up, then Abraham’s birth year was 2167 BC. From then to the death year of Jesus, 33 AD, is 2200 years precisely. Jesus quotes the opening of Psalm 22 while in agony on the cross, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” The chronology of men from Adam to Jacob totals 22 names. Jeroboam reigned for 22 years.

Number 12

The number 12 means end and foundation. There were 12 tribes of Israel, 12 apostles, and the Tree of Life gives 12 kinds of fruit. The city of Jerusalem has different parameters that are equal to number 12: 12 gates and 12 precious stones at the basement. Daniel is also concerned with the time of the end, and Daniel has 12 chapters. Daniel 12:12 states, “Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.” 1 plus 3 plus 3 plus 5 equals 12.

Number 40

The number 40 in the Bible symbolizes completion. You can see this number in the Bible for 146 times. In Hebraic culture the number 40 is connected to the trial and testing of any kind. The Israelite slavery continued for 400 years and then was forced to wander for 40 years through the Sinai. Moses was 40 days on Mount Sinai receiving God’s Law. Later one Elijah spent 40 days on the same mountain worshiping God.

There are references to “40 days and 40 nights” throughout the Bible. The most notable are the 40 days and nights of rainfall that caused the Flood of Noah. Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness before being tempted by Satan. Jesus remained on Earth for 40 days after his Resurrection, appearing to the Apostles and teaching them, before ascending to Heaven.

Number Four

Four indicates completeness and integrity. Of the 12 tribes of Israel, Jesus’ lineage is traced back to Judah, the fourth tribe. There are four major writing prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. There are four horsemen of the Apocalypse. There are 4 angels standing ready at the four corners of Earth. There are four Gospels, four living beasts in Ezekiel, Daniel, and Revelation.

There are four points of the Cross, which is more significant than you might think, since the typical cross of the time was either a single, vertical pole, called a crux simplex, or a Tau cross, named after the capital Greek T. The lowercase “t” was unnecessary unless something needed to be added above the head of the condemned, and such placards were only needed for the executions of celebrated people.

Number Six and Seven

The Bible uses the number six to indicate imperfection, while the number seven is considered the perfect number. The work week is six days long, but it is missing something until God decided to set aside another day for rest. The most well-known number in the Bible is 666, which symbolizes Satan. The Holy Trinity, however, is 777 because it is seen as a perfect trinity. God is said in Revelation to have seven Spirits, depicted as seven lamp stands. The first statement of the Old Testament consists of seven words.

There are many numbers found throughout the Bible, and they each have a specific symbolism to them. God purposefully wrote the Bible to feature these numbers, and by studying them we can understand His writing on a deeper level.

What is the Mark of the Beast in the Bible? The truth behind the number. By Lesli White

You’ve probably heard of the “mark of the beast” or the number 666 which many consider to be the devil’s number. Although many people associate 666 with satan, the Book of Revelation explains what the number really means.

Revelation 13:15-18 is the main passage in Scripture that mentions the mark of the beast. The passage says, “And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.”

In addition to Revelation 13:15-18, other references can be found in Revelation 14:9. 11, 15:2, 16:2 and 20:4. So what exactly is the mark? The mark of the beast acts as a seal for the followers of Antichrist and the false prophet who serves the Antichrist. The false prophet, recognized as the second beast, is the one who causes people to take this mark.

This mark is placed directly on the hand or forehead. It’s not a card that is simply carried around. The recent breakthroughs in medical implant chip and RFID technologies have increased interest in the mark of the beast referenced in chapter 13 of the Book of Revelation. It is important to realize that a medical implant chip isn’t the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast will be something only given to those who worship the Antichrist.

You may be wondering what the meaning of 666 is. Well, this remains a mystery though many have speculated that there is a connection to specific dates. However, we are told in Revelation that the number references a person, not a date. Ultimately, the number identifies the Antichrist.

Jesus warned us that in the last days false prophets would arise who would masquerade as the Messiah and claim to be the Savior of the world. “Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you.' For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many” (Matthew 24:4-5). This false prophet is the second beast referenced in Revelation. Shortly before His crucifixion, Jesus preached His great message regarding profound events that would occur at the end of the age just prior to His Second Coming. Among those events, He said, would be false prophets and false Christs. Jesus also emphasized that these false christs will perform great signs and miracles and deceive man. Many Christians believe that as long as they believe in Jesus, they are shielded from these false prophets or shielded from the deceptions of the last day, when in fact, these false prophets are not easy to identify. Jesus says that the deceptions of these false christs are so carefully planned and so skillfully carried out, that even God’s chosen ones would be deceived. The only time this isn’t possible is when we keep our focus on the real Jesus.

In order to recognize the false prophet, the Bible tells us to stay on guard and to pay attention to these things. First, pay attention to where the person’s message is coming from. Is the message they are delivering to the people from their head or from God through the power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? Peter says, “We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:16). And then he says the false teachers exploit you “with stories they have made up” (2 Peter 3:4). The true teacher sources what He says from the Bible. The false teacher relies on his own creativity. Their message is contrary to the teachings we’ve learned. These figures will promote a way to salvation by works that detracts from God’s glory through the cross of Christ. All false teachers undermine core values and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Another thing to look at is their character. Ask yourself what kind of people does the message produce? Instead of pursuing goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, kindness and love, the false prophet is marked by arrogance and slander. They are also marked by greed. False prophets love to be seen and heard. This is indicated by the fact that they keep putting themselves at the center of attention by continually prophesying day by day. Scripture is very clear that the Holy Spirit is in Earth to draw attention to Jesus. Jesus Himself said to the Holy Spirit in John 16:14. “He will glorify Me, for He will receive from Me and will declare it to you.” Revelation 19:10 says. “Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Beware of those who use prophecy to thrust themselves in the limelight.

Finally, you can pay attention to their message. Listen to the substance. The message for Christ is always central. “We have everything we need for life and godliness in Him” (2 Peter 1:3). For the false teacher, “They will secretly introduce destructive heresies" (2 Peter 2:1). Pay attention to the word secretly here. Movement away from the centrality of Christ is subtle. The false prophet will speak about how other people can change your life, but if you listen closely to what they’re saying, you will see that Christ is not central to the message. However, something very corruptive likely is at the center of their message. Their messages are not aligned with scripture, but their own warped version of it.
