Former Director of the FBI James Comey used social media to make an apparent threat against President Trump. The post, shared on Comey’s verified Instagram account featured a photo of sand and seashells arranged to read “86 47,” accompanied by the caption: “Cool Shell formation on my beach walk 2 hours ago.” It drew little attention on Instagram itself—just 105 likes—but quickly went viral on Twitter after being spotted by journalists:

To the uninitiated, the numbers may seem arbitrary. But within American slang, “86” is a well-known euphemism for elimination or removal—its roots traced to Prohibition-era bars and 20th-century diner lingo. In some contexts, it carries even darker connotations: to “86” someone can mean to kill. And “47”? That number now refers unmistakably to Trump, who returned to the White House in 2024 as the nation’s 47th president.

Put together—“86 47”—the phrase has been interpreted by critics as a sinister call for the elimination of Trump, whether metaphorical or literal.

The implications are especially volatile given recent history. On September 15, 2024, Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt at his Florida golf club. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested with a loaded rifle after allegedly stalking the president for weeks. According to charging documents and prior statements, Routh had repeatedly expressed violent intent, calling Trump a “buffoon” and suggesting he deserved to be “executed” for the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.

And that attack came just two months after another high-profile attempt on July 13, when Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, fired several shots at Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. One bullet grazed Trump’s ear and killing a spectator. The attempt, dubbed the most serious breach of presidential security since Reagan in 1981, pushed political tensions in the U.S. to new extremes.

Now, with memories of those attacks still raw, Comey’s cryptic post has poured gasoline on an already raging fire.

Comey’s critics wasted no time in sounding the alarm. One X user, tagging high-profile figures, demanded accountability:Another denounced the post as evidence of the “lunatic left”:Comey, who may have been trying to gain publicity for a novel he wrote, pretended he had no idea what “86” meant. But intent may matter less than perception—especially among the left, which has become more and more prone to violence as it’s lost elections.

Comey’s relationship with Trump has long been fraught. Appointed as FBI Director under President Obama, Comey was abruptly fired by Trump in May 2017, sparking a political earthquake. At the time, Comey was leading simultaneous investigations into Hillary Clinton’s email server and Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump’s move was widely interpreted as an attempt to obstruct federal scrutiny—a view later echoed in Robert Mueller’s special counsel probe, though no charges were filed.

The feud never cooled. Comey has since cast himself as a moral counterweight to Trumpism, frequently criticizing the former president in books, interviews, and social media posts. But this latest episode may have crossed a line.

The Secret Service announced it was looking into Comey’s threat.

“The Secret Service vigorously investigates anything that can be taken as a potential threat against our protectees. We are aware of the social media posts by the former FBI director and we take rhetoric like this very seriously. Beyond that, we do not comment on protective intelligence matters,” Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.

A federal law enforcement official told USA TODAY that the Secret Service was sending agents to question Comey about his post, saying that it would do the same for anyone posting a potential threat about a former or current president. The official said that on the condition of anonymity to discuss ongoing investigative matters.

Journalist Doubles Down On Assassination by Anastasia Boushee May 16, 2025

Leftist Journalist Doubles Down On ‘Joy’ Over Assassination

Journalist Doubles Down On Assassination

A leftist journalist who has repeatedly advocated for violence is once again doubling down on her support for Luigi Mangione, the man who allegedly assassinated UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by shooting him in the back.

Taylor Lorenz, who previously worked for the Washington Post and the New York Times as a tech reporter, has already faced prior backlash for declaring that she had felt “joy” upon hearing that Thompson was murdered. When she was called out, Lorenz tried to walk her comments back just a bit, but simultaneously insisted that insurance companies that have delayed or denied coverage were guilty of murder.

At the time, she shocked host Piers Morgan and her fellow guests by stating: “Maybe not joy, but certainly not — certainly not empathy.”

She also has a history of doxxing — including sharing the private information of Chaya Raichik, the person running the popular “Libs of TikTok” account on X — while at the same time fake crying on camera about any form of criticism she receives:

Lorenz’s latest shocking comment came during an April 13 appearance on CNN’s “MisinfoNation” show with host Donie O’Sullivan, where she laughed off criticism of people obsessed with Mangione, claiming that it is because he was a “morally good man.” At the same time, she mocked anyone who dared to be shocked about people calling Mangione a hero.

“To see these millionaire media pundits on TV clutching their pearls about someone stanning a murderer when this is the United States of America,” the leftist journalist began. “Stanning” is a slang term that refers to being an obsessive fan.

“As if we don’t lionize criminals, as if we don’t have, you know, we don’t stan murderers of all sorts, and we can give them Netflix shows,” Lorenz continued. “There’s a huge disconnect between the narratives and the angles that mainstream media pushes and what the American public feels.”

O’Sullivan did not even push back on the leftist journalist’s unhinged comments, instead asking her to elaborate and highlighting the women who have shown up outside of the courthouse during Mangione’s hearings.

“You’re going to see women especially that feel like, Oh my God, right? Like, here’s this man who’s revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who is young, who’s smart. He’s a person that seems like this morally good man, which is hard to find,” Lorenz shockingly claimed.

One again, O’Sullivan did not push back, instead joking: “Yeah, I just realized women will literally date an assassin before they swipe right on me. That’s where we’re at.”

“They want someone to tear down these barbaric establishment institutions,” Lorenz later said, referring to the people supporting Mangione.

Social media users were rightfully outraged over Lorenz’s shocking comments, with Daily Wire host Matt Walsh writing: “Psychotic wench Taylor Lorenz gushes over Luigi Mangione, calls him a ‘morally good man,’ and brags that fan-girling a murderer has led to the biggest audience growth she’s ever had. The CNN ‘journalist’ sits and laughs along. Just an utterly depraved display all around.”

“You know who would disagree with the absurd assertion from Taylor Lorenz that Luigi Mangione is a ‘morally good man’? Brian Thompson’s wife and two kids,” wrote Riley Gaines, referring to the murdered CEO.

“CNN is happy to call any opinions they don’t like harmful and dangerous and now they’re doing a interview with Taylor Lorenz who openly fawns over Luigi Mangione and calls him moral,” Outkick writer Ian Miller noted. “Amazing what protection having the right political ideology buys.”

Norco Carjacking Ends Tragically for 79-Year-Old Veteran James Norman

Norco Carjacking Ends Tragically for 79-Year-Old Veteran James Norman

James Norman lost his life during a violent carjacking at a Norco gas station that has shaken the Southern California community. Norman’s family mourns the loss of a man who was a beloved father and grandfather. How could this situation have been prevented?

Veteran’s Life Cut Short in Violent Carjacking

James Norman, a 79-year-old Army veteran, was brutally killed on May 12, 2025, while vacuuming his Chevy Trailblazer at a gas station in Norco, California. What started as a routine car cleaning ended in tragedy when 29-year-old Ryan Hewitt seized the opportunity to steal the running vehicle, unaware or unconcerned that Norman was still partially inside.

Norman’s daughter, Nicole Lauritsen, believes her father likely didn’t hear the carjacker due to not wearing his hearing aids at the time. “He didn’t have his hearing aids in, so I’m guessing he didn’t hear with the vacuum on, and all of a sudden, the car is just backing up,” she explained to investigators following the incident.

Family’s Heartbreak and Investigation

Norman had planned to meet his family for dinner that evening, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for his loved ones. Lauritsen received a shocking call from a sheriff’s deputy asking if there was a way to track her father’s phone, to which she responded that she could track his car instead.

The AirTag that Lauritsen had previously placed in her father’s vehicle proved crucial in helping authorities locate the stolen SUV and apprehend the suspect. This small piece of technology provided the critical link that led investigators to Hewitt, who now faces serious criminal charges for his actions.

Remembering a Life of Service and Adventure

Norman’s family has established a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses and outstanding medical bills following his untimely death. The veteran leaves behind his wife, two daughters, two sons-in-law, and a grandson who will remember him for his adventurous spirit and dedication to family.

According to his family, Norman lived “a modest, basic life, but also an adventurous life” that included service in the Army and careers in construction, vehicle transport, and even aviation as a pilot. His passion for travel took him across the United States, and he was known for captivating those around him with stories from his experiences.

Lauritsen expressed hope that her father’s passing was quick, saying, “I just hope he went quickly and I’m grateful for the people — and I hope to meet them — that surrounded him and protected his body so he wasn’t just out in the middle of the road.” The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Corona Police Department continue their investigation into this senseless act of violence that claimed the life of a respected veteran.
