A Prayer to Accept God’s Call
By Kyle Norman

Bible Reading:
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom Shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am, Send me.” - Isaiah 6:8

Listen or Read Below:

Do you find it easy to put your hand up and volunteer for a task or a duty? When there is a call in your church for people to help with a potluck or an event, do you naturally rise to the challenge? For many, helping others seems an easy thing to do. But what would you do if you heard God’s voice calling you to a specific action or task? What if God asked you to voice a message to someone in your in life? Well, then putting up your hand to say “send me” becomes a little more difficult, doesn’t it?

These five words, “Here I am, Send me,” are perhaps the hardest five words in our lie of faith. By these words we offer ourselves, not only to God, but to the living out of God’s purposes in the world. Believing in God can be easy, but being willing to be used by God can often push us past our zones of comfort. Often, accepting God’s calling in our lives means that we offer ourselves to others in service or ministry. Maybe, like Jonah, it involves bearing a message to someone we would rather not talk to. Saying “Send me” can be scary. In these words, boldness meets humility, and faith meets trust. These words can be hard to speak, and harder to live out.

Have you heard the voice of God calling you to an action or a ministry? Have you heard the gentle whisper of the Savior asking you, “Who will I send, and who will go for us?” What was your response? Don’t despair if it has been hard to accept this calling. Don’t condemn yourself if an affirmation of your calling hasn’t easily rolled off your lips. You are in good company. The great pillars of faith have always struggled with this.

Sarah says, “Here I am, but I’m too old” (Genesis 18:12), Jeremiah says “Here I am, but I’m too young” (Jeremiah 1:6); Moses says, “Here I am, but send someone else” (Exodus 4:13), and Peter says, “Here I am, but I’m too sinful” (Luke 5:8). Even though Isaiah says, “Here I am, Send Me!” he only speaks these words after he says, “woe is me, for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of Hosts!” (Isaiah 6:5).

It seems that it is natural, in the light of God’s call, to focus only on our insufficiency. God calls, and all we can see are the many reasons why we don’t measure up to the perfection of the one calling us into his work. But notice there is no condemnation in this. God never rebukes any of the people for questioning their calling. God simply, continues the call. In fact, this pause before jumping head-on into action is a good thing. Racing into the tide of God’s movement is not something to be done recklessly. It demands more than the spirit of the moment.

But when that call won’t go away, when we have spoken to trusted prayer-partners about it, when we have prayed over it, when we have gone through our time of discernment, and when the call of God just won’t cease, our faith demands the response. And when that happens, we will have opened our lives to the wonders of God’s Kingdom in new and powerful ways. We might even wonder what took us so long to say “Send Me” in the first place.

Let’s Pray:

Almighty God,
I know that you are always with me, and that you continuously beckon me to be closer to you. You call me to embrace the possibility of my joining in your kingdom work. Lord, you know that I love you, and you know that I long for your presence in my life; you also know that, at times, I find it difficult to fully offer myself to you. Sometimes I try to reserve my own sense of control. At others, my sin stares back at me, telling me that your calling couldn’t possibly be true. And yet your call to serve you, and to serve others, is never-ending. In grace, you call me to step more deeply into your presence and to explore your call for my life. Help me to know that your call is based on who you are, not who I am; your work is what you will do through me, not what I will do alone. And so, when I hear you say, ‘Who will go?' give me the boldness to say, 'Here I am, send me.”
I pray all this in Jesus’ name. Amen

Kennedy Takes Democrat to School on Food Safety for Kids… May 15, 2025

Kennedy Takes Democrat to School on Food Safety for Kids…

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. responded forcefully Wednesday to Rep. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, following her harsh criticism of his leadership.

In her opening remarks to a House Appropriations Committee hearing, Democrat ranking member DeLauro asserted that under Kennedy’s budget proposal, which calls for less spending than under the Biden administration, “Americans would die from needless and preventable deaths.”

The congresswoman then got more personal, saying to Kennedy, “By promoting quackery, we are endangering the health of the American people with pseudo-science, fearmongering, and misinformation.”

During his testimony, RFK Jr. reminded DeLauro that she’s been talking for years about the dangers of artificial food dyes, but he actually took action regarding it.

“You say that you’ve worked for 20 years on getting food dye out. Give me credit. I got it out in 100 days,” he said.

“I’ll give you that credit,” DeLauro responded.

“All right, so let’s work together and do something that we all believe in, which is have healthy kids in our country, for God’s sake,” Kennedy replied. “There’s no such thing as Republican children or Democratic children. There’s just kids, and we should all be concerned with them.”

DeLauro also became upset with Kennedy over his plans to reorganize the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by eliminating some offices within it.

She zeroed in on $246 million Congress appropriated for the CDC’s tobacco prevention program.

“Do you commit to following the law again, fully obligating those funds?” DeLauro asked Kennedy.

“Allow me to answer that by pointing out the absolute cataclysmic disorganization of this agency under your oversight for 40 years,” the secretary responded.

“We had nine separate offices of women’s health. When we consolidate them, the Democrats say we’re eliminating them — we’re not. We’re still appropriating the $3.7 billion, but we’re not keeping all nine.”

He listed other examples of multiple separate offices, including eight to address minority health, 27 for HIV, and 59 for behavioral health programs.

Additionally, during the hearing, Kennedy testified concerning school lunches, saying, “We took the Biden guidelines, which were 453 pages long and were clearly written by industry. They were incomprehensible …”

“We are changing that. We’re going to have four pages of dietary guidelines that tell people essentially, ‘Eat whole food. Eat the food that’s good for you. That’s going to drive changes in the school lunch program,” he added.

Kennedy noted that he’s been touring Head Start facilities and finding that “everything they eat is in a package, and it is just loaded with sugar and with chemicals.”

“We’re poisoning this generation. Eight hundred thousand kids — the poorest kids in the country — and we’re starting them out with this count against them — with, you know, diabetes, pre-diabetes,” the secretary said, elaborating that about one-third of American youths are diabetic or pre-diabetic.

Tulsi Gabbard Urges Arrest of James Comey After Instagram Controversy; Did James Comey call for Trump to be assassinated?...Gabbard Calls for Immediate Legal Action

Tulsi Gabbard Urges Arrest of James Comey After Instagram Controversy

Tensions escalated dramatically between the Trump administration and former FBI Director James Comey following a controversial Instagram post. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has forcefully called for Comey’s arrest, expressing grave concerns for President Trump’s safety. Did James Comey call for Trump to be assassinated?

Gabbard Calls for Immediate Legal Action

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has taken a firm stance against former FBI Director James Comey, demanding his arrest following his controversial Instagram post. The now-deleted post showed seashells arranged to read “86 47,” which many interpret as a coded threat against President Donald Trump, who is the 47th President of the United States.

“Any other person with the position of influence that he has, people who take very seriously what a guy of his stature, his experience, and what the propaganda media has built him up to be, I’m very concerned for the president’s life,” Gabbard stated during her appearance on Fox News. She emphasized her concerns for Trump’s safety, particularly in light of previous assassination attempts targeting the president.

Understanding the Controversy

The term “86” is commonly used in restaurant slang to indicate removing something from the menu or ejecting someone from an establishment but has evolved to sometimes imply more sinister intentions. When paired with “47,” many conservatives and security experts immediately recognized it as potentially advocating harm against the 47th President, Donald Trump.

Comey initially captioned his post with “Cool shell formation on my beach walk…” but later deleted it following significant backlash. He subsequently claimed ignorance about the violent associations, writing, “I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence.”

Official Response and Investigation

The Secret Service has confirmed they are actively investigating the post as a potential threat against their protectee. “The Secret Service vigorously investigates anything that can be taken as a potential threat against our protectees,” a spokesperson stated, though they declined to provide specific details about the ongoing investigation.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has directed the Department of Homeland Security to collaborate with the Secret Service on the investigation. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich expressed serious concern in a statement, noting: “While President Trump is currently on an international trip to the Middle East, the former FBI Director puts out what can clearly be interpreted as ‘a hit’ on the sitting President of the United States — a message etched in the sand.”

The incident has prompted widespread condemnation from Republican officials and commentators, including Donald Trump Jr., Meghan McCain, Congressman Tim Burchett, and Senator Marsha Blackburn. FBI Director Kash Patel has indicated the agency is aware of the situation and will provide necessary support to ensure the President’s safety.

This controversy revives the contentious relationship between Comey and Trump, which began during Trump’s first term when he fired Comey during the Russia investigation. Comey has not issued any further comments beyond his initial claim of ignorance regarding the post’s implications.
