Prayer for Love and Presence
By Gem Fadling, host of Unhurried Living

Bible Verse:
“One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, ‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’ ‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” - Mark 12:28-31

Listen or Read Below:

These days, there are many reasons to feel either anxious and fearful, or distracted and checked out. I have never felt more inundated with contentious, divisive, and anxiety-producing rhetoric. The information age is not treating us well. Yes, there is much to “do” in response to what is going on culturally. But I also believe there is much to “be.” The world needs our grace-filled, wise, discerning, and loving presence now more than ever.

Love and presence may seem a bit lightweight for some. Some imagine they are about flitting about in a field of daisies. But I see them both as solid, weighty, life-giving, and necessary. The invitation to true love and real presence is not simplistic, but is at the core of any response we undertake. Let’s turn to what Jesus called the most important commandment: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12)

I have heard these verses hundreds, if not thousands, of times, and because of this, their priority can be dimmed by sheer repetition. So it’s good to circle back and pause. What if instead of taking this truth for granted, we lean into it even more fully? What does a life built on this truth look like…feel like?

  • Love God
  • Love myself
  • Love others

This is a life-giving flow. We love because God first loved us (1 John 4:19). We love God because of God’s love for us. Receiving God’s love, we then extend it to others (love your neighbor as yourself). Presence is necessary because each of these loves is experienced in the present moment. Practicing presence is far from lightweight. It is actually quite difficult because our brains want to rehearse the past or project into the future. But right here and right now is where love is experienced and embraced.

Is your confidence in the centrality of love and presence growing? I hope so.

Let’s Pray:

God, thank you so much for your presence with us right now. Your love continually surrounds us, and we choose to sink into this reality right now. Please help me remain aware of your love throughout each day. And may your love focus me so that I may be present to you, to myself, and to others. I deeply desire to love and serve others from an unhurried and present heart. Jesus, you modeled this for us as you interacted with so many people who needed to be seen and heard. I want to be like you. Love and presence are solid, foundational, and necessary. I receive your love now and hold it deeply within my heart. Thank you! Amen.

Kash Patel: FBI Politicization Reckoning on the Horizon May 20, 2025

Kash Patel: FBI Politicization Reckoning on the Horizon

FBI Director Kash Patel recently shared his candid views on the agency’s past troubles, promising a future of accountability for those who misused power. During an interview on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo, Patel laid out his plans for restoring trust in the FBI. He focused on violent crime and homeland defense, emphasizing organizational accountability and constitutional oversight.

Patel wants to ensure that the agency serves its true purpose and not political agendas. He made it clear that the problem lies not with the hardworking rank-and-file employees, but with a select few elites who misused their power. “Our priorities — simple: Crush violent crime, defend the homeland, rigorous organizational accountability, and… aggressive constitutional oversight with Congress,” he stated.

Highlighting the misuse of power, Patel pointed to evidence now being reviewed by Congress. This includes documents from investigations like Crossfire Hurricane and the infamous Richmond Catholic memo. “Congress has rightfully requested the documents… and now, finally, Americans are reading for themselves,” Patel explained, emphasizing transparency.

Maria Bartiromo, along with figures like Devin Nunes and Dan Bongino, has been instrumental in revealing these truths. Bartiromo recalled her role in the early stages of uncovering these issues, praising Patel’s commitment to transparency. Patel did not hesitate to call out those responsible for the FBI’s tarnished reputation.

Names like Comey, McCabe, and Strzok were mentioned as key figures in misleading the public. Patel accused them of lying to federal courts and the public, undermining trust in the FBI. “When the likes of Comey and McCabe and Strzok and company came in here… that’s what broke the FBI,” he asserted.

Patel emphasized that these officials withheld critical information, further damaging the agency’s credibility. He recounted his own experiences dealing with federal courts, highlighting the severity of the deception. The misuse of taxpayer dollars for political gain was another major concern he addressed.

The process of rebuilding trust has already begun, with Congress working closely with Patel. Crossfire Hurricane documents are being released to ensure full accountability. Unredacted documents aim to restore public trust and reveal the truth.

The goal is clear: to end the politicization of the FBI and hold those responsible accountable. Patel assured that former titles won’t protect the guilty from facing consequences. The agency’s core mission is being restored, free from political manipulation.

Bartiromo’s interview with Patel and others was a powerful reminder of the importance of integrity within the FBI. The conversation underscored the need for transparency and accountability in government institutions. The public deserves an agency that serves them, not political interests.

As the investigation continues, Patel remains committed to uncovering the truth. The collaboration with Congress marks a significant step toward restoring the FBI’s reputation. Accountability is key in moving forward and regaining public trust.

The message from Patel and his team was unequivocal: the days of using the FBI as a political tool are over. Those responsible for past wrongdoings will face the consequences of their actions. The agency is on a path to redemption, guided by principles of justice and fairness.

The transformation of the FBI is a priority, with efforts focused on transparency and integrity. Patel’s leadership is setting a new standard for accountability within the agency. The commitment to truth and justice is paving the way for a stronger, more reliable FBI.

In conclusion, Patel’s appearance on “Sunday Morning Futures” highlighted the importance of holding power accountable. The revelations discussed are a testament to the ongoing efforts to reform the FBI. The agency’s future is being shaped by a renewed commitment to its core mission.
