Leftist Chicago Mayor: Country is ‘At Stake’ if Biden Does Not Address Migrant Crisis

CV NEWS FEED // Left-wing Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson pleaded for the Biden administration to provide more money to his city, which due to the ongoing border crisis has a skyrocketing and unsustainable migrant population.

“Without real significant investment from our federal government, it won’t just be the city of Chicago that won’t be able to maintain this mission,” Johnson said on CNN Wednesday morning. “It’s the entire country that is now at stake.”

“I’ve said repeatedly that we need more resources,” Johnson explained.

“I’ve asked for $15 billion for the entire country,” he continued. “I know I have a congressional delegation here in Illinois that has asked for $10 billion.”

Despite his requests, Johnson praised the White House for its “technical support,” adding that he “appreciates” the administration’s support of “work authorization to put people on the pathway to sustainability.”

The self-styled “progressive” also took a shot Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. “In no way what the state of Texas is doing is helping the cause,” Johnson said.

As FOX News reported:

[Abbott] has been bussing migrants into [Chicago] since last year to highlight the impact of illegal immigration on border towns in his state. Earlier this month, Chicago passed an ordinance imposing penalties for buses dropping off migrants in the city without a permit. Johnson has also filed dozens of lawsuits against companies transporting migrants.

Johnson slammed the Texas policy as “reckless” and “dangerous.”

Also per FOX, “over 20,000 migrants have appeared in the Windy City since August 2022.”

“Sanctuary city Chicago started obstructing and targeting our busing mission,” Abbott wrote on X (formerly Twitter) last week.

“Texas will now expand our operation to include flights to Chicago,” the Texas governor went on to say:

Until Biden steps up to secure the border, we will continue to provide overwhelmed Texas border towns with much-needed relief.

During the several months he has been mayor, Johnson has repeatedly supported maintaining Chicago’s status as a sanctuary city.

Two weeks ago, Chicago’s FOX affiliate reported that Johnson and his allies on the City Council

used a parliamentary maneuver to squelch an advisory referendum that would have allowed Chicago voters to weigh in on whether Chicago should remain a sanctuary city.

Johnson ruled that the proposed referendum championed by Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) needed a two-thirds vote, or 33 alderpersons, to suspend the rules so that it could be considered because it had not been approved by the Rules Committee.

The Council voted 31-16 not to suspend the rules.

Johnson is not the first Democratic mayor to call for immigration aid from the president after championing his city’s sanctuary status.

In recent months, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has emerged as a prominent critic of Biden’s response to the migrant crisis. When campaigning for mayor in 2021, Adams was adamant that the Big Apple would remain a sanctuary city under his administration.

Netanyahu Bombs “Refugee Camps” in Gaza — But It’s Not What It Seems

(RightWing.org) – Israel’s military has attacked refugee camps in central Gaza, as the country expands its campaign against the Hamas terrorist group. The bombardment has sparked new criticism of the Jewish state’s policies, along with renewed calls for a ceasefire. Is Israel going too far, or is there more to the story than the headlines suggest?

Refugee Camps Targeted In New Offensive

On December 26, Israeli aircraft and artillery hit targets in and around three refugee camps at Nuseirat, Maghazi, and Bureij. Residents say the bombardment was “very intense” and fear Israeli ground forces are approaching. They’re right. In the first stage of Israel’s ground response to the October 7 massacre by Hamas, the IDF captured Gaza City, the Iran-backed extremist group’s main stronghold. This was followed by an advance into the south of the territory. Now Hamas has been pocketed in the center of the Gaza Strip, and Israeli forces are closing in.

Israel’s operations have attracted fierce criticism and triggered left-wing and Islamist protests around the world. Despite the savagery of the Hamas assault, many people don’t approve of the Jewish state attempting to force the group out of power and destroy its military capabilities. The latest attacks have added even more fuel to calls for an immediate ceasefire.

It’s Not What It Seems

While headlines like “Israel attacks refugee camps” look horrifying, the situation is more complicated than that. The “refugee camps” aren’t fields full of tents; they’re towns, and the “refugees” in them are people who fled during the 1948 Arab attack on Israel — or, by now, mostly their descendants. No significant numbers of Palestinian refugees have arrived in Gaza since 1971, when Palestinian terrorists tried to overthrow the government of Jordan during the Black September war and Jordan retaliated by expelling them. However, the towns were designated as refugee camps by the UN in 1948 and that designation has stuck, even though it hasn’t been an accurate description for decades.

Aid agencies are now warning that Gazans are running out of safe spaces to evacuate to, as people flee the fighting and head for central Gaza. Now that area is becoming a combat zone, too. However, Israel is determined to destroy Hamas and ensure nothing like October 7 can ever happen again, and that means taking control –- at least temporarily –- of the whole Gaza Strip to ensure the group’s leadership is totally removed. Over a hundred hostages kidnapped on October 7 are still unaccounted for, and Israel wants to rescue them too. As even pro-Palestinian sources admit, the “camps” are hotbeds of terrorism, they were never likely to escape the war,
