President Trump’s eldest son Donald Jr. on Tuesday slammed comedian Kathy Griffin for posing with a severed fake head resembling his father.
“Disgusting but not surprising,” Trump, 39, tweeted. “This is the left today. They consider this acceptable.”
“Imagine a conservative did this to Obama as POTUS?” Donald Trump Jr. added, referencing former President Barack Obama.
rump asked in a separate tweet if CNN would keep putting Griffin on air for its annual Times Square coverage on New Year’s Eve.
“Will @CNN keep putting her on air for things like the New Years celebration???” he wrote.
Griffin apologized Tuesday evening after appearing in a photo while holding a gory, decapitated head resembling the president.
“I sincerely apologize,” she said in a video she tweeted. “I’m a comic. I cross the line. I move the line, then I cross it.”
“I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it.”
Griffin earlier Tuesday defended the image taken by photographer Tyler Shields amid widespread backlash on social media.
“OBVIOUSLY, I do not condone ANY violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever!” she tweeted. “I’m merely mocking the Mocker in Chief.”
TMZ first published the controversial picture of Griffin.
“Tyler and I are not afraid to do images that make noise,” Griffin said in the clip.
“We have to move to Mexico today because we’re going to go to prison,” she joked.
