Kuwait is getting in on the “love trumps hate” bandwagon in thinking that non-violence is the cure for violent Islamic extremism.
Zain, a Kuwaiti mobile operator, released a new video to commemorate the beginning of the Islamic holiday Ramadan with a message for terrorists. The three-minute music video features a suicide bomber being confronted by his bloodied victims who encourage him to “bomb hatred with love.”
Other lyrics include:
Worship your God with love, with love not terror.
Be tender in your faith, gentle not harsh.
Confront your enemy, with peace not war.
After imploring the terrorist to “persuade others with leniency, not by force,” the bomber is told to use bombs of another kind:
Let’s bomb violence with mercy
Let’s bomb delusion with the truth
Let’s bomb hatred with love
Let’s bomb extremism for a better life
“We will counter their attacks of hatred with songs of love. From now until happiness,” the music video concludes.
Though the video has over 2.6 million views, the message doesn’t seem to be working. On Monday evening in Kuwait’s border country of Iraq, a car bomb was detonated outside an ice cream shop in Baghdad, killing 10 and injuring 22. ISIS has claimed responsibility.
It would appear that some Muslims prefer regular old bombs to love bombs.
