IMHO, everybody was WRONG: Mr. Floyd was wrong, the police officers (all of them) were wrong for NOT reprimanding their fellow companion, the bystanders were wrong for doing nothing but videotaping the possibility of a person being killed. They were ALL afraid of sharing the responsibility. Responsibility takes guts and you must want to share on the consequences of being responsible.
TWO WRONGS: The death of Mr. Floyd and the destroying of their own community do NOT make ONE right. Mr. Floyd, like most humanity, was a lost soul needing the Lord, but it is too late now.
May the Lord give me the guts if I find myself seeing a similar situation that I will NOT simply videotape the POSSIBILITY of a person to be killed because of his/her position on the floor handcuffed, but that I would somehow push that officer off a person, KNOWING that I would go to jail, nevertheless.
All I keep seeing in my mind is the destruction of families:
5 officers + 1 dead man = 6 families destroyed (ALL the members) PLUS a COMMUNITY (how many) damaged.
I used to tell my children "If you do something wrong do NOT forget that you are dirtying your last name. EVERYBODY with YOUR last name goes to jail with you. I will NOT bail you out. I will go visit you in jail though. So remember that that is one of the reasons I am warning you now so that if you decide to do something wrong, you will not be able to point at me and say 'you did not warn me'."
And NO I am NOT against police officers, for they have one of the MOST difficult jobs around.
As someone commented below: "No matter how the man ended up on the ground the cop should still have gotten off his neck!"
