God doesn't call us to be stagnant, He calls us to be intentional and to walk boldly in the life He has called us to.

God has a unique purpose for your life (Jeremiah 29:11). There are no back-up plans as God has a purpose for your life that only you can fulfill. Depending on the plans God has for you will determine the steps of your life. God might want you to serve Him overseas in mission work or to be a teacher in an orphanage within your home country. The Lord is always sharing His plans for you, but sometimes you can miss them if you are not carefully looking for the signs He is leaving in your life.

It is easier to stay in the comforts of your everyday life than stepping out into the purpose God has for you. God has called you out into purpose, however, the comfort of this world is trying to prevent you from accomplishing the plans He has for you. Rather than allowing the comforts of this world to ensnare you any longer, look at the signs God is placing in your life. Are they calling you out of comfort and into purpose? Or are they calling you to stay in the comforts of the world?

1. You Are Questioning Your Present Course of Life

The number one sign that God is calling you out of comfort and into purpose is if you are questioning your present course of life. You could be asking, what am I doing? Do I really want to be on this career path? If you have been questioning your every decision, it is probably God calling you into purpose.

If you are living only for the pleasures of the world right now, it could be God is bringing you home to Him. He might stir your heart to become an overseas missionary or to get involved with a local ministry in your area. Regardless of the path God is guiding you, He is guiding you away from comfort and toward purpose. It can be scary to leave the comforts behind, but what God has in store for you is far better.

2. You Are Discontent With Life

You might finally realize God is calling you to a higher purpose when you start being discontent with life. Nothing will feel exciting anymore and you won't feel like anything you do in your daily life holds any sort of purpose. This could be because God is sending you the clear sign that He has better things in store for you. He is bringing you out of comfort and into a life of purpose.

Within this new life, you will be content because you will be doing what God has planned for you to do long ago. This might be church planting, discipleship, or college ministry. Think about what interests you and it could be this is the path God is leading you towards. Pray over the matter and surrender your will to His.

3. You Are Feeling More Frustrated With Your Daily Rhythm of Life

In addition to feeling discontent with your daily life, you probably are also feeling more frustrated with your daily life if God is calling you into purpose. This is because the purpose He is calling you to is far greater than anything the comfortableness of this life could give you. You are frustrated and restless with the daily routine, and you want what God has in store for you. If you have found this inner stirring inside of you, rest assured that it is God’s hand on your heart, leading you into purpose.

4. You Feel Something is Lacking in Your Life

There are probably times in your life when you feel like you are lacking something. Maybe this is when you are on vacation, and you don't have to work. You feel you are lacking purpose and meaning in life because you are not producing anything. However, when you feel you are lacking something even while you are doing daily work, it could be because you are being called to something with greater purpose. God is calling you out of the comforts of everyday life and into a purpose that only you can complete.

If you feel you are lacking something, it is probably the plan God has for your life. Turn to Him in prayer and ask Him to direct your steps. This alone can help you and fill up your heart with hope. Once you have turned to the Lord and accepted the purpose He has called you to, you won't feel lacking anymore. Instead, you will feel complete.

5. Other Believers Have Seen Your Potential

Sometimes you can totally miss God’s signs in your life, but other people in your life don't. Has your mom or dad talked with you about how you have been doing a great job leading a small group? Or maybe your friend has complimented you on your ability to help other people understand the Bible? Think about what others have been saying because it could be God is speaking through them to help you see your higher purpose. There is no more time to waste on the comforts of life, it is time to step out into purpose.

This purpose is unique to you and you will make a lasting impact for God’s Kingdom by making the choice to step out into purpose instead of staying within the confines of comfort. It might take some time before you finally discover all of God's signs, but take each day as it comes and listen to His soft whisper. Pray to Him, ask for His direction, and allow His will to become your will. God is calling you out into purpose today—make sure you don't walk away from it for the comforts of the world.
