#10 THE END TIMES PODCAST: United Nations & the European UnionHost: Dr. Stephen Phinney | As global governance intensifies, many prophetic scholars point to the United Nations and the European Union as emerging epicenters for the Antichrist’s end-time dominion.ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROMERooted in Daniel’s vision of a revived Roman Empire and repeated in Revelation’s depiction of a ten-nation coalition, these institutions increasingly reflect the infrastructure needed for centralized control—politically, economically, and spiritually. The EU’s unified currency, expanding military alliances, and consolidated legislative power, coupled with the UN’s global reach and symbolic gestures toward (fake) peace and unity, suggest a framework ripe for deceptive leadership. As Scripture warns, when the world cries “peace and safety,” sudden destruction follows (1 Thessalonians 5:3)—a sobering reminder that these power players may soon serve a darker prophetic purpose. From Daniel’s Vision to Global Governance:The prophetic visions given to Daniel, particularly in chapters 2 and 7, offer a sweeping panorama of world empires culminating in a final, fragile coalition that precedes the return of the Messiah, Yeshua. These visions—rich in symbolism and divine insight—have long been interpreted by theologians and eschatologists as a roadmap to the end-times. I am certainly one of them. Today, many see striking parallels between Daniel’s imagery and the rise of global institutions like the United Nations and the European Union. The Four Beasts and the Rise of Empires:Daniel 7 describes four beasts emerging from the sea, representing successive world empires:
These groups share ethnic, religious, and linguistic unity—primarily Arab and Islamic—which supports Revelation’s description of being “of one mind” (Revelation 17:13). These nations will form an anti-Israel coalition, aligning with the Beast in the end times. Daniel 11:42–43 suggests the Antichrist will conquer Egypt, Libya, and Nubia (Sudan)—possibly three of the ten kings he subdues. Revelation 16:12 speaks of the kings of the East, which may include Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, especially given their large Muslim populations and strategic relevance. If, by prophecy, these territories unite, a superpower is likely to form, giving Middle East nations considerable power to come against Israel. DANIEL’S FINAL BEAST:This final beast is unique—terrifying, strong, and politically complex. It has ten horns, symbolizing ten kings or regions, and a “little horn” that rises among them, speaking boastfully and waging war against the saints (Daniel 7:8, 25). Most eschatologists interpret the “little horn” in Daniel 7 as a prophetic symbol of the Antichrist—a final world ruler who arises from a revived Roman Empire and leads a coalition of ten kings or kingdoms in opposition to God and His people. The Feet of Iron and Clay: A Fragile CoalitionDaniel 2 complements this vision with Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a statue made of various metals. The feet and toes—part iron, part clay—represent a divided kingdom: strong in some parts, brittle in others. This mixture suggests a coalition of nations that do not truly adhere to one another, despite outward unity. Each of these kingdoms will support a generalized religion, such as Islam, but each will covertly seek dominance for their kingdom. In the final days, prophetic Scripture and global trends suggest that two religious superpowers—Islam and Judaism—will rise to dominate the spiritual landscape of the Middle East and beyond.
These two faiths, both tracing their lineage to Abraham, will become central players in the unfolding drama of Revelation—each representing distinct theological claims, prophetic destinies, and geopolitical influence as the world prepares for the return of the true King, Yeshua. Many scholars see this as a prophetic picture of the European Union, which emerged from the ashes of the Roman Empire with its False Prophet. The EU’s formation—beginning with the Treaty of Rome in 1957—has led to a powerful economic and political bloc, yet one marked by internal divisions, cultural tensions, and fragile consensus. The UN and Global GovernanceWhile Daniel’s visions focus on regional empires, Revelation expands the scope to global governance. The United Nations, with its emphasis on peace, unity, and international law, mirrors the prophetic warning in 1 Thessalonians 5:3: “When they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them.” The UN’s global reach and moral authority may serve as a platform for the Antichrist’s rise, especially when paired with the EU’s centralized power. If and when these two superpowers converge, the Antichrist is likely to emerge to activate a one-world governance and religious system. Prophetic Indicators in Today’s Institutions
Watching and WaitingDaniel’s visions were not merely historical forecasts—they were divine warnings for the faithful. As global institutions grow in influence and complexity, believers are called to discern the times, remain anchored in truth, and prepare for the return of the true King. The convergence of prophecy and modern geopolitics is not a coincidence—it is confirmation. “The Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He will.” — Daniel 4:17 WATCH THE VIDEO | GET THE FULL STORY The End Times Podcast is dedicated to awakening the souls of those who are lost and inspiring authentic indwelt believers in Christ.
