Archaeologists Unveil Ancient Road Leading to Temple Mount
Israel inaugurated an amazing archaeological site after years of excavation in the City of David, exposing a first-century route linsking the Pool of Siloam to the edge of the Temple Mount where the Israelites would go to worship. The uphill ‘Pilgrimage Road’ is nearly 2000 feet long and 25 feet wide, and it was Jerusalem’s main roadway for pilgrims during the Second Temple period. The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Praise God for ancient sites showing the connection and establishment of the Jewish people in their Land.
Jordanian Humanitarian Aid Truck Driver Murders Two Israelis Soldiers
Recently, a Jordanian truck driver transporting a shipment of humanitarian aid from Jordan to Gaza through Israel exited his vehicle at the Allenby Crossing and killed two IDF soldiers, Lt. Col. Yitzhak Harosh, 68, and Sgt. Oran Hershko, 20. This incident of incitement and hatred resulted not only in the murder of two IDF soldiers but also the driver’s own death and the temporary closure of the border to aid trucks bound for Gaza.
Israeli government said that since the beginning of the war in Gaza, it has delivered over 144,000 tons of aid transported with 10,000 trucks through land borders with Jordan—this amounts to 7% of all aid deliveries. Israel’s Foreign Ministry said, “Israel facilitates humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the terrorists exploit it to murder Israelis. A Jordanian who was supposed to drive a humanitarian aid truck to Gaza, murdered two Israelis at the Allenby border crossing. This is yet another result of the vile incitement in Jordan. This is the result of the echoing of Hamas’ campaign of lies.”
Please pray for the families who are mourning the loss of their loved ones. Please pray for peace at Israel’s land borders.
Another Rosh Hashanah with Family Members Serving in the IDF
For the second Jewish high holiday season, families across Israel will be missing family members at their table. Many family members on reserve or active duty have been serving for over 300 days since the start of the war, and their absence is felt by everyone in the family. Many children say that it is most noticeable at the holidays when their missing parent’s chair is empty. One child said, “I feel like we’re missing out. The holidays come only once a year, and it’s upsetting that Dad won’t be here. We don’t know if next year he’ll be with us or still in the reserves. To make it less sad we invited our grandparents and uncles so we won’t be alone.”
Please pray for families and children who are missing their loved ones during the holiday season. Please pray for peace in Israel.
Happy New Year from our Staff in Israel!
We wish you Shanah Tovah—Happy New Year! As Rosh Hashanah takes place this week and commences the Jewish high holidays, we pray for a sweet new year for you! The holiday feeling in Israel has been in the air for many days; people greet each other with holiday wishes and the sound of the shofar resounds through the streets. Our staff has been busy with special holiday activities such as hosting events for Holocaust survivors we regularly meet with, giving small gift bags to families displaced from the war, and sharing holiday meals with guests who are new or not-yet believers.
Please pray that our staff will have abundant opportunities to share about the Lord and His love and mercy for us. During the holidays, people are more attuned to spiritual needs and hope, so we pray that we can share with many our testimonies of what God has done in our life and how Jesus is the Jewish Messiah!
