SNAP BENEFITS: Speaker Mike & Fetterman Both Explain The Lie At The Heart Of Dem Talking Points

Blue states have taken Trump to court... but his response isn't what his critics might claim

Isn’t it curious how the party that keeps calling Trump ‘authoritarian’ also keeps demanding he behave like a monarch, invoking powers that no American President actually has?

Obama was happy to use his pen and his phone to blow through the guardrails on his Article Two powers with examples like DACA, even after admitting he had no such authority. (Judges later agreed that he had exceeded his authority.) Biden went further. He openly defied the Supreme Court with examples like education bailouts and eviction moratoriums.

Now, Democrats are DEMANDING that Trump fork over money that would, right now, be going to pay SNAP benefits if they had not blocked legislation that would have extended funding the government until the next budget gets approved.

Until Congress sets aside money for the running of government, budgets scramble to reallocate scraps from last year to keep things going. Failing that, no money can be spent on anything from paperclips to paychecks.

As of November 1, that list now includes SNAP benefits. Blue states went to court demanding Trump give out that money, painting him as some kind of an evil Grinch because he has not already done so. His answer?

I’d love to, your honor. Show me what legal framework permits me to comply with your demand and I’ll be happy to do it.

You see that? Not only is he careful to obey the judge, but he is insisting he do so in compliance with the Constitution. Perhaps he needs some remedial dictator lessons from Obama and Biden. Because he’s really not as good at running roughshod over the Constitution as his two predecessors.

The entire point of having three branches of government is to force each branch to stay in its lane, and cooperate with the other two in order to keep the business of government moving forward.

Before he was even sworn in, Dems have insisted that he’s some kind of an authoritarian licking his chops at the opportunity to exert powers that he does not have. And yet, these same Dems routinely use the courts to thwart policies that are explicitly spelled out as falling within exclusive authority of the Executive branch (ie: immigration enforcement). Rather than just ignoring them, he took the time and energy of going through the appeals process. Again and again, we find that once you get past the cherry-picked judge shopping directions, the higher-level judge keep upholding the Trump administration’s original policles.

As for who is responsible for the shutdown?

Let’s ask one of the 45 Dem Senators…

“I feel like the Democrats really need to own the shutdown.’
