What Does His Death Give Us?
I don’t know if you stopped to think about it, but while we love to discuss the magnificent thing Jesus did for us through His death on the Cross, we never discuss the two sides of His work at Calvary. I realize that may be a new way for you think about this, but one side of Jesus’ Sacrifice benefits humanity, us in our everyday life But the other side benefits Yahweh, our God. One benefits the sinner, while the other benefits the Father of every believer.
Oh, certainly we know about the benefit on our side. I mean, how can we forget that? His sacrifice provided us with our sins being forgiven, which is no small thing, as you well know. It also imparts to us the Life and Nature of the Eternal! Oh, as marvelous as that is, we were also given victory over everything that had dominion over us. We were supplied with mercy and grace. We were given the promise of eternal life — and we have received the ability to escape the terrors of sin and hell. Like I said, no small things.
Just like me, I know most of you worship and thank our Father for all of those wonderful benefits of the cross, as well as the wonderful relief they bring. My only wish is that it was preached week after week in churches all over the world! Too few preachers share this wondrous news with the members of their church. I will go so far as to say, too few “ministers of the Gospel” even know about these wonders of Salvation.
But as I was saying, there is also another benefit of the cross, one that many of us presume is there, but we know very little about. What I am talking about is how it benefits our Father. We seem to overlook the delight our Father has because of the cross. I am referring to a delight that He receives whenever we enter his house through repentance and prayer.
If all we are going to focus on regarding the cross is forgiveness — as if that was the end-all of our preaching — then we miss an important truth that came as the result of Jesus’ faithfulness to face the cross. There is something more we need to understand here, and it has to do with our Father’s joy . . . no, His delight! This is a truth that provides believers with much more than just relief. It brings liberty, rest, peace and joy.
Consider what the author of the letter to the Hebrew church wrote:
Does that sound too trite? I don’t think so. I find the most glorious moment in history was when the temple veil was torn in half the day Christ died. It was at that very moment that Yahweh’s benefit burst open! The instant that temple veil ripped open — that veil which separated men from their Creator’s Holy presence — was torn apart, something incredible happened. From that point on, not only were we able to enter into the Lord’s presence, but the Lord could come out to man! Do you see how delighted His heart was?
Okay, so what are you to do with this? Well, this morning, while you are entering His Throne Room to find the Grace and Mercy He promised you, open your eyes and notice the smile on His face; notice the delight in His heart to provide! It should only take a moment, but it will fill you with a tremendous amount of love and confidence that He really does care about your need, and that He really does love you!

Consider what the author of the letter to the Hebrew church wrote:
“Brothers and sisters, because of the blood of Yeshua we can now confidently go into the holy place. Yeshua has opened a new and living way for us to go through the curtain. (The curtain is his own body.). . . we must continue to come to him with a sincere heart and strong faith” (Hebrews 10:19-20, 22)Wow! I bet most Christians (and yes, I may be too optimistic on that) know how to come boldly before their God for forgiveness; to obtain support for their needs; for answers to their prayers. But they seem to lack boldness to enjoy their access to Hims.
Does that sound too trite? I don’t think so. I find the most glorious moment in history was when the temple veil was torn in half the day Christ died. With these Morning Messages, I take you on guided tours to, as Bunyan described, the Celestial City. At times we linger at corners familiar and unseen. And explore the depths of our faith along the way.
The trail is long, but there’s no hurry. Though we do need to stock up on supplies for the way, and that’s where I need your help. If you enjoy these messages, please consider becoming a contributing member of this tour group. It will be very much appreciated.
