His Glory? Whatever It Is, It is In Us!

You know, some of us believers can be so arrogant — oh, none of you, but I have met some who were! These folks have all the answers to every question. I’m sure you know what I mean. I was recently chatting with one such brother and after I listened to his diatribe, I assured him that I doubted any of us can correctly define God’s Glory (which this brother was attempting to do) any more than the Lord can define himself — at least for us to understand.
You see, when I am talking about the Glory of God, the Shekinah, I am referring to our Father’s Fullness, the full and complete reality of whom and what He is. What does that mean? I don’t know either. To be honest, I believe that subject is far too high for our finite minds to grasp. However, what we do know, we can only know in part.
You see, the Divine glory is an important motif throughout the Scriptures. Yahweh is regarded as the most glorious being, and we were created in His Image and share or participate, imperfectly, in divine glory as image-bearers. This is why we are instructed to “let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father, who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
When the Lord gives His Glory, He is giving Himself. Anyone who receives his Love also gets His mercy, His Holiness, and His Strength. Anyone who receives his Mercy also gets His Love and everything else that is the fullness of Yahweh. Anyone who seeks the Glory of Yahweh must learn that He truly desires to give Himself to us, which means He wants us to enjoy a fullness of rest and confidence.
Before He left the earth to return to his Heavenly Father, Jesus prayed,
“Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began” (John 17:5).
What that is telling us is that Jesus was in the bosom of the Father before the world began. He was one with the Father, and that was Glory. Union with the Father was the Delight and Glory of His being. He had intimacy, union, and oneness. Can we fathom that? I bet not, but we sure can wonder and marvel at it.
We know so little of His Glory. Our problem is that we are only thinking in terms of cosmic power and splendor. We are such strangers to the real meaning of Yahweh’s Glory. We don’t even understand what Jesus meant when he said, “Glory has come to me through them” (John 17:10).
Didn’t you know that Jesus Christ is glorified through his saints — now? It’s true! He lives within us in all his Divine Splendor and Fullness! We are complete in Him. When he comes to live in us, He comes in all his Glory, Might, Majesty, Holiness, Grace, and Love. We have received the glory of a full and complete Christ! We have an open heaven — so the next time you are feeling overwhelmed, come boldly to the throne of his glory and make your petition known. You can then walk away with assurance and hope of His Life in us!

With these Morning Messages, I take you on guided tours to, as Bunyan described, the Celestial City. At times we linger at corners familiar and unseen. And explore the depths of our faith along the way.
The trail is long, but there’s no hurry. Though we do need to stock up on supplies for the way, and that’s where I need your help. If you enjoy these messages, please consider becoming a contributing member of this tour group. It will be very much appreciated.
