#6 THE END TIMES PODCAST: A Prodigal WorldHost: Dr. Stephen Phinney | During the End Times, the global culture will replicate the Biblical prodigal son story. It is time to deconstruct Satan's lies.
THE PRODIGAL WORLDStupid people rarely listen - even if they are highly intelligent! There once was a wealthy father who had two children. One remained close, learning the rhythms of the land and the wisdom of tradition. The other—let’s call them the World—demanded an inheritance early. “Give me my share of time, freedom, and possibility,” said the World. And off it went, sprinting into the horizon of modernity. At first, it was glorious. The World danced under neon lights, built towers that scraped the skies, and streamed symphonies of progress into every home. It consumed endlessly—land, oil, attention, data—until even the stars seemed within reach. But then came the famine. Not one of bread, but of meaning.Isolation bloomed in crowded cities. The pursuit of self left many without a self to return to. The more we connected, the less we truly communicated. War, climate, inequality—like pigs in a distant land, the World began to hunger for something deeper than convenience and control. And then the World remembered. A whisper of ancient wisdom. A memory of love not earned but given. With weary steps, the World turned back. Expecting judgment. Dreading shame. But instead—on the horizon—there stood the Father, arms wide, heart bursting, running to meet us not with scorn, but with welcome. “Come home,” He said. “Let’s feast again.” However, this is not how the story concludes in the End Times…In the context of end-times prophecy, many eschatologists believe that the world's prodigal masses—those who have turned away from God—will not return in repentance, despite the signs and calls to do so. As foretold in Scriptures like 2 Timothy 3 and Revelation, people will become lovers of self, resistant to truth, and increasingly hardened in their ways, for they become stupid beyond repair. “For the shepherds are stupid and do not inquire of the Lord; therefore they have not prospered, and all their flock is scattered.” — Jeremiah 10:21 The distractions of wealth, pride, and pleasure can blind hearts to the emptiness of life apart from the Hebrew Father. Unlike the prodigal son, who remembered and returned, this global turning away might be met with defiance rather than remorse. Yet even then, the Father’s arms remain open, ready—but in the end, few will choose to come home. It’s a sobering divergence from the parable, where return is met with grace, reminding us that love may be offered, but never forced. For God will allow all the resisters to be devoured by the Antichrist.
