Conference In Hong Kong Addresses The Future Of Christianity In China

Conference In Hong Kong Addresses The Future Of Christianity In China

A four-day conference aimed at discussing the future of Christianity within the communist nation of China wrapped up on Saturday in Hong Kong.
Christian Daily reports,
Last week, theologians and leaders from various background and denominations gathered in Hong Kong to talk about the present problems of Christian churches and communities in China. The conference organized by the Ecclesiological Investigations International Research Network (EIIRN) finally came to an end on Saturday, Vatican Radio details.
Although Christianity — which includes the Catholic Church and many Protestant denominations — is one of the five approved faiths in China, they are required to affiliate with two state-run patriotic church organizations. Underground Christians who refused to do so have been persecuted and imprisoned.
One Jesuit theologian who has established ties with China told the delegates of the EIIRN conference that Chinese leaders want to resolve an existing conflict between Beijing and the Vatican. The said conflict stemmed from the issue of appointment of Catholic bishops, and the theologian said this could be a key to uplifting the situation of the millions of Catholics in China.
Christianity has been under attack in the past year within the communist Chinese government, from the mass removal of Christian crosses atop buildings throughout the country, to the closer of churches in the Chinese city hosting this years G20 summit.

Pastor Belgey: Turkish President Erdogan The Anti-Christ?

Pastor Belgey: Turkish President Erdogan The Anti-Christ?

Pastor Paul Begley asks the question, is the Turkish President Erdogan the anti-Christ that was biblically prophesied in the book of Revelation?
Shoebat reports,
Turkey has enjoyed nearly 140 years of constitutional experience since the inception of the Ottoman Constitution of 1876, known in Turkish as the Kanûn-u Esâsî, and the parliamentary system has been the defining characteristic of all constitutions to follow. In its 60-odd years of multi-party politics, including four military coups and even the execution of a prime minister, Turkey has never taken a step to change its system of governance to a presidential one until Erdogan began to call for it and this week right after his party’s victory he is going full throttle on pushing this agenda to set himself up as the Sultan of the Muslim world. In other words, he aspires to become the Caliph.
Additionally Sputnik News reported,
“Despite my unequivocal protest, similar to statements issued by all three of the major opposition parties, Turkey’s increasingly authoritarian president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, immediately accused me of orchestrating the putsch… Mr. Erdogan’s accusation is no surprise… for what it reveals about his systematic and dangerous drive toward one-man rule,” he wrote in an opinion piece published in the New York times magazine Monday.
The dissident also said that Turkish president is blackmailing the United States with curbing the support for the anti-terrorist coalition in Iraq and Syria in order to ensure his “extradition, despite a lack of credible evidence and virtually no prospect for a fair trial.”
The Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETO)/Parallel State Structure (PDY), made up of Gulen’s supporters, is designated as a terrorist organization by Ankara. In 2014, Turkey opened an investigation into the organization’s alleged efforts to overthrow the government.

Fears Raised After Allegations Of State-Sanctioned Christian Persecution In Nigeria

Fears Raised After Allegations Of State-Sanctioned Christian Persecution In Nigeria

Alarms have been raised throughout the Christian community after allegations arose of state-sanctioned persecution of Christians within Nigeria.
Open Doors, a Christian human rights advocacy group claims 4,028 Christians were killed in Nigeria and 198 Christian churches have been attacked just last year in 2015.
Bloodshed could result after allegations of state-sanctioned persecution of Nigerian Christians surfaced, the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety) has warned.
Intersociety’s warning of a potential bloodshed comes after Open Doors chief executive officer Lisa Pearce alleged that Nigeria’s political elite are helping the terror group Boko Haram and the Muslim Fulani herdsmen in persecuting Christians. In its report, the persecution watchdog said religion-motivated attacks almost doubled last year in the northern region, News 24 details.
“As we speak, none of the perpetrators has been fished out and put on trial. That is to say that Government is fully aiding and abetting the sundry ethno-religious cleansing and butcheries,” saidIntersociety chairman Emeka Umeagbalasi before adding, “It also partakes circumstantially and vicariously, if not directly.”

Egynpt’s Persecuted Christian Minority Looks to New Law to End Discriminatio

Coptic Christians living within Egypt have recently faced a slew of persecution at the hands of their Muslim majority counter-parts, now they are seeking new legislation to put an end to discrimination.

In May, a Muslim mob stripped an elderly woman of her clothes and attacked her house in a southern village after rumours that her son was dating a Muslim woman.
Coptic farmer Amir Mikhail, who hosts religious services in his small home in Ismailiya, said the government was not doing enough to protect Christians.
“The official message is great, but on the ground, nothing is implemented,” he said.

Christian Students In Pakistan Are Being Pressured To Convert To Islam

Christian school children living in Pakistan are being pressured to convert to Islam, the allegations that have been claimed has now prompted the Pakistani government to launch an investigation into the claims.
Christian Daily reports,
Last year, Pakistani Christian leaders filed a petition with the Supreme Court to put an end to discrimination against minorities in the education sector. Earlier this year, the Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association (PMTA) urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to launch an inquiry into victimization and religious persecution of non-Muslim students, Christian Today reports.
In response to the association’s call, the Punjab government sent PMTA chairman Prof. Anjum James Paul a letter promising to investigate the issue. In the letter sent to the government in April, Paul cited the example of eighth-grade Pakistani Christian student Naveed Rafique who failed in an examination after refusing to recite the Islamic statement of faith, Christians in Pakistan details.
The Pakistan Minorities Teachers Association sent a letter to the Pakistani government expressing concern that state-sponsored schools are intentionally seeking to convert non-Muslim students to Islam.
“They are not ready to accept the religious identity of non-Muslim students at any cost,” the Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association said in the letter. “They are forced to study Islamic beliefs and practices in the subjects of languages, social sciences, pure sciences and Islamic Studies from school education to higher education.”
