Trump, Clinton Tied in Two Polls

Third party candidates making a difference.

Before his trip to Mexico and his big speech on immigration on Thursday can even be counted, Donald Trump has once again closed the gap with Hillary Clinton in two national polls. Rasmussen and Fox News, which conducts its polls using Republican and Democratic pollsters, find that in a four-way race, Trump and Clinton are tied.

Many national polls offer voters only the choice of the Democrat or Republican candidate, but with third-party candidates gaining traction this year, that may not present an accurate picture.

The latest weekly Rasmussen Reports White House Watch shows Trump with 40% support to Clinton’s 39% among Likely U.S. Voters, after Clinton led 42% to 38% a week ago. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson now earns seven percent (7%) of the vote, down from nine percent (9%) the previous two weeks, while Green Party candidate Jill Stein picks up three percent (3%) support. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.

The Fox News poll found fairly similar numbers.

The poll finds Clinton garners 41 percent to Trump’s 39 percent, while Libertarian Gary Johnson receives 9 percent, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein gets 4 percent.

The third-party candidates take more from Clinton than Trump, as she holds a six-point lead in the two-way matchup: 48-42 percent. That’s at the edge of the poll’s margin of error.

That six-point lead for Clinton in Fox's two-way matchup is down from a 10-point lead in early August just after the Democratic convention.

Both polls were conducted this week ahead of Trump's speech.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is doubling down and just announced plans to protest the national anthem tonight in San Diego. Tonight's snub is particularly noteworthy because the San Diego chargers billed it as "Military Night," when tribute is paid to "hundreds of thousands of current and retired military personnel who live and work in San Diego."

The 49ers away game today in San Diego (10 p.m. ET) is particularly noteworthy because it is "Military Night," billed as a tribute to "hundreds of thousands of current and retired military personnel who live and work in San Diego," according to the San Diego Chargers’ website.

More broadly, the quarterback's pregame protest over the treatment of “black people and people of color” has garnered national media attention, driving a complex discussion about race, and political protest in U.S. sports.

The timing of the “Military Night” event is coincidental, a Chargers' spokesman told the San Diego Union-Tribune earlier this week, adding that the team sponsors a "Salute to the Military" once every preseason.

In a statement Sunday, Kaepernick said he has "great respect for the men and women that have fought for this country" and that the "liberty and justice" solders fight for is in vain because "this country isn’t holding their end of the bargain up."

While some veterans have come out in support of Kaepernick, other people have burned the quarterback's jersey and other 49ers paraphernalia containing his image.

The defiant Kaepernick certainly hasn't learned a thing about humility as he vows to continue protesting the anthem until there is "significant change." What he fails to realize, however, is that actions like his are what prevent real change from taking place.

If he does perceive some kind of injustice in this country, Kaepernick could have used his celebrity to actually do good -- get involved in affected communities, start a foundation or scholarship fund, he could volunteer, or otherwise serve as a positive role model for kids in inner cities looking for a way out. Rather, he has chosen to disparage his country -- an act that brings about nothing positive and all, and what's more, does naught to bring about the kind of change Kaepernick supposedly seeks.

We will see just how warm and fuzzy the reaction is after the quarterback snubs America's solders this evening. Because no matter how he tries to spin it, that's the only way sitting out the anthem on Military Night will be perceived.

Palestinian terrorists Baha Alyan and Bilal Ghanem boarded a bus in Jerusalem this past October with a gun and a knife and murdered Haviv Haim (78) and Alon Govberg (51), and Richard Lakin (76). Alyan was shot and killed by an Israeli security guard at the scene and Ghanem was captured and is serving 3 life sentences.

Early this morning Israel gave over the body of terrorist Alyan for burial. WAFA, the official PA news service, honored the terrorist writing that:

"Martyr Baha Alyan ascended to Heaven last Oct. 13 [2015], after he carried out a stabbing and shooting operation together with prisoner Bilal Ghanem on an Israeli bus."

Significantly, the PA news agency assumes that stabbing Israeli civilians on a Jerusalem bus makes Alyan worthy of "ascending to Heaven."

Fatah posted on its Facebook page the picture of the terrorist, calling him a "heroic Martyr":

"May Allah have mercy on Baha and all of our heroic Martyrs. Glory kneels before you."

In addition, Fatah today reposted a text written by Alyan before he went on his terror attack expecting to be killed, which he called the "The 10 commandments of every Martyr" including the wish that his son also should "die for his homeland":

4. "Do not sow hatred in my son's heart. Let him discover his homeland and die for his homeland, and not in order to avenge my death.

5. If they [Israel] wish to demolish my home, let them do so, since the stone is not more precious than the soul created by my God.

6. Do not grieve over my Martyrdom-death, grieve over what will happen to you after I am gone. [...]

10. I will see you in Paradise."

Recently, Palestinian Media Watch exposed that the Palestinian Scout Association named a leadership course for scouts after Alyan. Alyan has also been honored by "chains of readers" in several Palestinian universities.

Baha Alyan and Bilal Ghanem - 22 and 23-year-old Palestinian terrorists who on Oct. 13, 2015, boarded a bus in Jerusalem's Armon Hanatziv neighborhood with a gun and a knife and attacked passengers, killing Israelis Haviv Haim (78) and Alon Govberg (51), and Richard Lakin (76), and wounding 3 Israelis. Alyan was shot and killed by an Israeli security guard at the scene and Ghanem, a Hamas terrorist who served time in Israeli prison in 2013-2014, was wounded. Ghanem is serving 3 life sentences and an additional 60 years for these murders.
