Late-night comedian Seth Meyers dedicated a whole 8 minutes of his program Tuesday night to lament how climate change "deniers" have ruined this election season by not taking the issue seriously.

Using various clips of media talking heads and weather forecasters predicting planetary doom to prove the existence of climate change, Meyers then chastised so-called "deniers" for standing in the way of the left's heroic push to save the planet.

"Any time you cite these facts to argue that climate change might pose serious health or safety risks, climate deniers respond with mockery," the host lamented.

Meyers then responded to this destructive "mockery" of climate deniers by hitting them with some of his own mockery, not even attempting to refute the arguments laid forth by some.

For instance, Meyers laughs off Elizabeth Hasselbeck's assertions that climate change alarmists previously warned back in 2008 that New York City would be under water by 2015 without even trying to refute her claim. The comedian and his audience can laugh all they want, but Hasselbeck spoke the truth. Meyers either doesn't know the truth or doesn't care.

The whole 8-minute segment represents a perfect microcosm of the left's whole climate change agenda, shifting the rhetoric beyond political solutions and into salvation territory. There's no argument or debate to be had with people who believe the apocalypse is upon us and our only salvation lies in electing them into office.

So, the aptly named "vote or die" campaign so championed by the left should really be "vote (for us) or die." Hard bargain.

The College Fix received a copy of an e-mail signed by three professors co-teaching a humanities class at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs that suggested their students drop the course if they take issue with man-made climate change.

According to the correspondence, several students contacted the professors with concerns about their success in the course after viewing the initial online lecture. Instead of welcoming an open dialog on the subject, the professors, Rebecca Laroche, Wendy Haggren and Eileen Skahill, told them to find another class:

The point of departure for this course is based on the scientific premise that human induced climate change is valid and occurring. We will not, at any time, debate the science of climate change, nor will the ‘other side’ of the climate change debate be taught or discussed in this course.

Opening up a debate that 98% of climate scientists unequivocally agree to be a non-debate would detract from the central concerns of environment and health addressed in this course.

If you believe this premise to be an issue for you, we respectfully ask that you do not take this course, as there are options within the Humanities program for face to face this semester and online next.

Students who wish to remain enrolled in the course are asked to refrain from the climate debate in online forums and only use research that has been “peer-reviewed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.”

After reviewing the syllabus, The College Fix discovered a section on the “health effects of fracking.” The materials listed are exclusively anti-fracking with no representation of the possible benefits, according to the report.

So much for the marketplace of ideas.

Several students from Owasso High School in Oklahoma were turned away from Friday night’s football game because they were bringing American flags into the stadium for the opening game which was “USA-themed.”

According to EAGnews.org, senior Brandon Conrad told KFAQ that the school’s principal had approved the patriotic gear, but the athletic director said otherwise. Police turned the students away and told them to return the flags to their cars. Video of Conrad's ejection from the premises appeared online and prompted a response from school officials.

District spokeswoman Amy Flitcher said it probably happened because the flags would block people’s view:

“The students, in fact our students, run on the field with an American flag and so the only thing we will review is what items in the student section would give the best game day experience for our students, the people behind them.”

That same night in South Carolina, something similar happened at Travelers Rest High School when the principal banned American flags for their football game. Principal Lou Lavely was concerned that students might taunt Hispanic students with the flag, so he issued a ban “in the best interests of all attending the game and in the spirit of patriotism and respect for our flag.”

Local police patrolling that game said indicated they weren’t pleased about “the flag-screening business.”

Cooler heads prevailed at Travelers Rest, as the administration has since reversed the ban and decided it would take up any “inappropriate behavior” or “misuse of the flag” on an individual basis.

Only in America.

On Monday, a violent mob of Nigerian pagans stabbed a Catholic priest in the face with a monstrance – a pole used to carry the Eucharist – and beat him into a coma for leading a Rosary procession into their village.

Father Fidelis Ifeanyichukwu Ugozo of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Ugbenu, Anambra State in southeastern Nigeria, was stopped by Gabriel Ikegbunam, one of the youth leaders in his village. Ikegbunam says he stopped him because he felt that the priest was there to burn down their deity.

Ikegbunam would not allow the priest and his parishoners to enter the village, but afterconfronting them they continued their procession. He then called youths from the village to attack the priest and his followers, who were mainly women and children.

Father Ugozo was shot twice in the back, stabbed in several places with a monstrance, and beaten until he became comatose. Twenty other Catholic faithful were injured during the attack. After the brutal beating, Fr. Ugozo was sent to an undisclosed hospital nearby, and later transferred to a Catholic hospital.

According to a former catechist at St. Raphael's, Cletus Nwankwo, a former catechist at St. Raphael's, youth leader Ikegbunam had told his friends that "Catholics are coming to burn their shrine."

"Soon the youths trooped out, wielding dangerous weapons such as axe, gun and machetes," said Nwankwo. "They grabbed the Blessed Sacrament from our parish priest, hit it on the floor and used the Monstrance to hit our parish priest on his hand before stabbing him on the face and other parts of the body."

The pagan group has shown hostility towards Christians before. One of the town's traditional rulers, Igwe Lawrence Egwuonu, told reporters "his wife was among those beaten." The youths had also previously accused Christians of burning their pagan symbols and shrines.

"After investigation I discovered that they were all liars," said Igwe. "None of their shrines were burnt and I can defend it anywhere."

"It was Ikegbunam that incited others to attack the priest and other Christians," he continued. "Their greatest mistake was touching the priest and destroying the Blessed Sacrament. It is a sacrilege and they will pay for it."

Two of the youths were apprehended by police while others remain at-large.

Nothing says, “I know nothing about actual oppression,” like proudly wearing a Fidel Castro T-shirt just days after you sat out the national anthem in protest of the oppression of blacks in America. But that’s exactly what San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick did during a press conference.

Twitter noticed:

The shirt states, “Like Minds Think Alike,” and features Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and Malcolm X together. This gaveIJ Review an idea: find someone who lived under Castro and get to the bottom of what true oppression looks like. Enter Sergio J. Sixto, a former prisoner of Castro who now lives in America.

Sixto told IJ Review he lost 50 pounds while in captivity and used a small opening at the bottom of his cell door to find a scant supply of oxygen. Rightfully, Sixto took issue with Kaepernick’s complaints:

“If that guy had a dictator like the Castro’s for 57 years in power in his country, he would know what it’s like to really be oppressed. Especially for black people. Black people are the most repressed in the country. The prisons are filled with them mostly.

“There are more than 100,000 people in Cuba that died in Cuba because of the Castros. There are 3 million people in exile from the country. If he would know what it’s like living in Cuba, he would know what it’s like to be an oppressed black man.

“In Cuba they are the poorest of the poor. So poor, in fact, that they don’t have the chance to leave the country when possible, which is why so many throw themselves to the sea in a makeshift raft risking death.

“If he would have been a sports star in Cuba like he is here, he’d still be oppressed and wouldn’t have enough money to have a decent house for himself and his family.

“He’d be exploited by the dictators as a show puppet for the world and would be driven to escape like many sports stars have done whenever they get the chance.

“If he had said anything bad to say about the government or the Castros in protest of real discrimination and oppression, he might have found himself in prison like I did for trying to speak my mind and bring about change. And he would have been treated even worse.”

So, tell us again, Mr. Rich Sports Star, how oppressive it is living in America?

An IRS investigation has discovered that illegal immigrants stole one million Social Security numbers from American taxpayers, and the agency never bothered to inform anyone, reports The Washington Times.

The investigation has been going strong for five long years, and it’s still not fixed, the report continues. The inspector general said a pilot program was launched to find a solution but wasn’t successful. As a result, most of the taxpayers affected don’t even know their IDs have been stolen or what damage there is, if any, to their Social Security files.

From the Times:

Victims’ numbers are stolen by illegal immigrants who need to give employers a valid Social Security number in order to get a job. Employers are prohibited from probing too deeply into numbers, even when they suspect fraud.

But the IRS learns of the scam when the illegal immigrants file their taxes using a special Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) the agency doles out chiefly to illegal immigrants as a way of making sure they’re paying taxes even if they’re not supposed to be in the U.S.

Between 2011 and 2015 the agency flagged nearly 1.1 million returns where someone appeared to have stolen a valid Social Security number, the inspector general said.

The IRS did not have any new comment on the findings, instead referring reporters to an official response filed with the inspector general, in which the agency insisted it’s making progress.

The IRS’s small business commissioner Karen Schiller has faith that taxpayers will begin to be notified by next year.

“As we continue to battle and make progress against all strains of identity theft in the tax ecosystem, we recognized that we were missing an important partner in this effort — the taxpaying public,” Schiller said in response to the inspector general.

There’s a roadblock built into federal law that prevents the IRS from informing taxpayers their identity has been stolen. Therefore, only 25,000 people were notified.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said the agency has one job: collecting taxes, not dealing with immigration issues. At the hearing, he tried to soften the blow by saying many cases involve friends or family members willingly lending their Social Security numbers to the illegal worker. Koskinen said the IRS was being sensitive by trying not to chase away illegal immigrants who were properly filing their taxes.

Throughout the entire ordeal, communications were jumbled. The inspector general said sometimes IRS employees sent out a notice to the Social Security Administration, but the SSA said they had no record. Other times, the IRS made no notifications. This communication breakdown meant victims were left clueless and completely exposed, courtesy of the Obama administration.

Donald Trump delivered a major speech on immigration Wednesday evening [beginning at 2:03:00 of the video above], in which he dispelled any concerns about a “softening” of his policy, according to Mediaite.

After praising the President of Mexico after their meeting and talking of “my love for the people of Mexico,” Trump gave an impassioned speech on how illegal immigration “serves the needs of wealthy donors, political activists, and powerful, powerful politicians… [and] does not serve you, the American people.”

Prioritizing America and American workers was a significant portion of his speech, pledging to prioritize the needs of working Americans and Americans looking for work over people illegally flocking to the United States.

He stressed that it is America’s right to “choose immigrants we think are the likeliest to thrive and flourish and love us” and laid out his plans for enforcement and deportation in detail. He spoke of creating a deportation task force, saying that anyone who’s entered the U.S. illegally “is subject to deportation” because “that is what it means to have laws.”

As for the Wall, about which there had been some confusion earlier, Trump declared, “We will build a great wall along the Southern border… and Mexico will pay for the wall, 100 percent. They don’t know it yet, but they’re gonna pay for it.”

He criticized President Obama and Hillary Clinton for their responsibility for “deadly non-enforcement policies,” promising he would push for things like Kate’s Law and ending sanctuary cities.

Trump also briefly touched on his plan for “extreme vetting” on ideological grounds to weed out immigrants who believe in sharia law. He referred to “ideological certification” and also said that America should be letting in people based on their “likelihood of success” here because we can’t just “take in anybody” anymore.

“There will be no amnesty,” Trump asserted. “You can’t smuggle in, hunker down, and wait to be legalized.”

Near the end of his speech, Trump brought onstage the family members of Americans killed by illegal immigrants and let them speak briefly. One of them said, “If you don’t vote Trump, we won’t have a country.” Now there's a campaign slogan for you.
