The demons don’t always win

In Jesus Christ’s teachings and ministry He often confronted demons and their activities, i.e., demonic possession of individuals,Transgender, pedophiles, homosexuals, rapist, murderer’s, liars, those that commit adultery, child abuse, greed, you get the picture (Matthew 12:22-29, 15:22-28, 25:41; Mark 5:1-16). Christ demonstrated His power over demons and, furthermore, He gave His disciples power to cast out demons (Matthew 10:1)
Demons are fallen angels, as Revelation 12:9 indicates: “The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” Satan’s fall from heaven is symbolically described in Isaiah 14:12–15 and Ezekiel 28:12–15. When he fell, Satan took some of the angels with him—one third of them, according to Revelation 12:4Jude 6 also mentions angels who sinned. So, biblically, demons are fallen angels who, along with Satan, chose to rebel against God.
Some of the demons are already locked “in darkness, bound with everlasting chains” (Jude 1:6) for their sin. Others are free to roam and are referred to as “the powers of this dark world and . . . the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” in Ephesians 6:12 (cf. Colossians 2:15). The demons still follow Satan as their leader and do battle with the holy angels in an attempt to thwart God’s plan and hinder God’s people (Daniel 10:13).
Demons, as spirit beings, have the ability to take possession of a physical body. Demonic possession occurs when a person’s body is completely controlled by a demon. This cannot happen to a child of God, since the Holy Spirit resides in the heart of the believer in Christ (1 John 4:4).

Types of Occult Satanic Worship in the Bible

There are many ways satan is worshipped through occult means that includes demon worship:

Divination

Divination was one of the specific practices named by Moses in his prohibition on occult worship (Deut. 18:10). Often this practice included the killing of a chicken or some small animal, and on occasions to observe its liver to determine the state of affairs and direction of the immediate future (Ezek. 21:21). Divination is an illegitimate means of determining the will of God. The Christian desiring to know the will of God should consult the Scriptures, not the stars (Ps. 119:9).

Necromancy

A second occult practice of today was also banned by God. ‘Necromancy’ is an effort to communicate with and interrogate the dead. As the Bible teaches the dead are unable to communicate with the living (Luke 15:27-31), it only stands to reason that those who claim to have this ability are lying or are themselves deceived. In either case, the necromancer was considered an abomination unto the Lord (Deut. 18:11, 12).

Magic

The use of magic formulas and incantations was also forbidden. Today it is popular to distinguish between white and black magic, but leading biblical scholars agree that both forms of magic find their source and strength in demonic power. Those who practice magic are under certain limits as to what they can accomplish (Dan. 4:7). Even when it appears that magicians are able to duplicate the power of God, they still fall short of what God is able to accomplish (Exod. 7:11, 12).

Sorcery

Closely related to magic is sorcery. Magic usually relates to accomplishing specific acts-such as rods becoming serpents-whereas sorcery relates more closely with calling upon demons to create situations around people. Thus the enchanter or sorcerer is one who uses incantations or omens. Their practices may have also included the use of mood-changing or mind altering drugs. This has led some Bible scholars to denounce the use of such drugs because they are used as part of occult worship.

Witchcraft

Around the world today, there exists a growing number of those who call themselves witches. Witchcraft is directly opposed to God (Dent. 18:10). When Saul became the first king of Israel, one of his first acts was to ban the practice of witchcraft from the kingdom (1 Sam. 28:9). A witch is one who makes use of magic and sorcery to accomplish the will of demons.

Astrology

One of the oldest forms of the occult still practiced today is astrology. Contemporary astrology is a combination of what astrological cults practiced in Babylon, Egypt, and Canaan. In Canaan, astrology centered around the bull. The worship of the golden calf, child sacrifices to Molech, and Baal worship were all part of Canaanite astrology. The Old Testament is very clear to prohibit God’s people from involvement there.
In Egypt, God challenged the astrological gods of Egypt in sending ten plagues which directly attacked the authority of those gods. The highest of the Egyptian gods was Ra, the sun god. Three days of darkness was a direct indictment against the religion of Egypt.

What Are The Works of Demons

Several activities are identified in the Bible in which demons may be involved. Sometimes they are responsible for physical disease or mental suffering. While not all mental disorders are demonic in origin, some apparently are. Demons are also credited with tempting people to engage in immoral practices. They are the originators and propagators of the false doctrines taught by heretical religious groups. The Bible also teaches that some people were possessed by demons. Demons are committed to evil, yet God will use them to accomplish his plan during the end of the world.

Demons Unknowingly Do The Will of God

It must be frustrating to demons after they had accomplished some evil scheme to later find out that they were carrying out the will of God. Satan did not realize what God wanted to do in Job’s life when he caused him physical suffering. Also, God used ‘an evil spirit’ to accomplish his will in the life of Saul, Israel’s first king (1 Sam. 16:14).
On another occasion, God used ‘a lying spirit’ to deceive the false prophets of an evil king (1 Kings 22:22, 23). At the end of the Great Tribulation, demons will be used by God to gather the nations of the world to battlefields of Armageddon (Rev. 9:16). God is able to use even demons to accomplish his will.

Physical Disease

There are many reasons why a person may experience physical illness. Sometimes it is the result of God’s judgment for sin (1 Cor. 11:30). On other occasions the same sickness may come as a result of breaking some health law and exposing oneself to germs or viruses. It may come from God as his means of ending a person’s life in a natural way. On other occasions, demons may be the reason a person experiences physical suffering.
Several specific physical afflictions are attributed to demons in the Bible. Jesus cast a demon out of a dumb man who immediately began to speak (Matt. 9:32, 33). On another occasion, a blind man began to see when the demon went out of him (Matt. 12:22). Job was afflicted physically with boils covering his body, the result of satanic activity (Job 2:1-10). Demons may have been the messengers that carried out Satan’s commands to smite job. Of course, afflictions are not always symptoms of demon activity, but demons are capable of and do occasionally cause physical pain and suffering.

Mental Disease

Various forms of mental diseases can also be attributed to demons. In at least two cases of demon possession treated by Jesus during his ministry, the demons had so affected the minds of the victims to cause abnormal behavior. One man lived among tombs, a practice considered unclean during this time, and created a disturbance day and night (Mark 5:4, 5).
A young boy possessed with a demon involuntarily went into an apparent convulsion when he encountered the presence of Jesus (Luke 9:37-42). In both instances, the victims engaged in some form of self-destruction and physical mutilation of the body. After the demon was cast out of the person, the apparent mental problem disappeared.

Moral Impurity

For the Christian, our final moral code of ethics is the Bible. Those who oppose God would also oppose, the morality of the Bible. Demons are instrumental in leading both the saved and unsaved into moral compromise. One of the often-used names for demons in the Bible is ‘unclean spirit,’ an appropriate name, as they tarnish everything they influence. When Israel left Egypt, God gave them the land of Canaan. One of the reasons God wanted them in a separate land was that the heathen nations had given themselves over to unclean spirits and had become: corrupted (Lev. 18; Deut. 18).

False Doctrine

Paul discussed one main work of demons when he warned young Timothy of conditions “in the latter times.”
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons. 1 Timothy 4:1
Demons are the source of many organized doctrines of the false cults. Even in the early church, there were false apostles (Rev. 2:2) and false doctrines (Rev. 2:14) that had to be opposed.
The Bible teaches the coming of an antichrist during the Great Tribulation but, by the end of the first century, John wrote, “Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.” (1 John 2:18). The word ‘anti’ had a twofold designation; first it meant ‘against’ Christ, but the secondary meaning was the most evident, it meant “in substitution for,” or “instead of,” Christ. The existence of ‘antichrist’ leaders throughout the church age is the result of demon activity.
Their main activity is to foster a ‘substitute religion’ in place of Christ and his doctrine.

Spiritual Battle

One of the chief difficulties of living for God today is not the social pressures or inconvenience of life; it is the spiritual battle in which we are engaged. Our enemies are demons. Paul observed, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12). The phrase “the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil” refers to demons and their activities.
Part of the work of demons, particularly as it relates to the Christian life, is doing battle with Christians on the spiritual level. This condition is the reason behind the apostolic imperative, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Eph. 6:11). Without spiritual help from God, the Christian is unable to win the battle against demons.

Demon Possession

‘Demon possession’ is not a biblical expression, yet the idea of demon control is more than simply a carry-over of ancient superstitions. Demon possession, as we understand it, occurs when God permits demons to possess a person and control his mind or body. On many occasions demon possession resulted in mental derangement. In most cases recorded in Scripture, the person possessed was apparently responsible for being possessed.

Understanding Demon Possession

There is much confusion about demon possession. Demon possession is the culmination of a volitional rejection of God and a volitional acceptance of Satan and his demons. A person does not become possessed by demons on a casual basis.
Demon possession is the opposite of the filling of the Spirit just as some Christians are more effective when filled with the Holy Spirit, so some unbelievers have greater demonic power as a result of their demonic possession. The same word is used of the Holy Spirit controlling in Ephesians 5:18 as Satan’s control of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5.
Demon possession and demon activity is more commonly recognized in third world countries. However, there is increasing evidence of demonic activity in our Western society because of its waning Christian influence. As our nation turns from God and more people worship Satan and demons, there will be more evidence of demon activity in our society.
Many have conjectured about whether or not demons can ‘possess’ or ‘influence’ believers. Since the Bible is silent concerning Christians being ‘possessed,’ it has much to say concerning demons’ possible influence on us and of our need to be aware of their desire to adversely affect our wall with God.

Can Christians Have Demons?

The short answer is no. Satan and his demons may tempt us, but they cannot dwell within us.
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17
Thus, you see, the Holy Spirit lives in every child of God. Additionally, Jesus says in verse 23: “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
Not only does the Holy Spirit dwell in every Christian, but the Father and the Son, through the Spirit, dwell in every Christian. No demon, nor the devil himself, can dwell in a Christian if the Father and the Son or the Holy Spirit are dwelling in that Christian. God and the devil cannot dwell in the same place or in the same person.
God emphasizes in His Word the Holy Spirit lives within those who have repented of their sins, have accepted Jesus as their Savior, and have thus been born into the family of God.
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. Romans 8:9
The Holy Spirit who lives in a born-again child of God bears witness with that person’s spirit that he is a child of God. If the devil or a demon lived in that Christian, and possessed that Christian, the Holy Spirit could neither dwell in that person or bear witness that such a person was a child of God.

What Will Happen To Demons?

When Jesus encountered a demon-possessed man during his earthly ministry, the demons asked, “Have you come here to torment us before the time?” (Matt. 8:29). Demons understand something of their eternal destiny, The phrase, “before the time” could mean that they feared premature expulsion from the man, but it probably meant premature judgment to hell. The destiny of demons can be summarized in three phases of confinement.

Present Confinement

Some demons are currently confined. John described the release of some of these demons in Revelation 9 during the Great Tribulation, when they will come from the bottomless pit to afflict the people. Jude identified another group of demons whom God “he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day” (Jude 6). Apparently the crime of these angels was so horrendous that they will never again experience any degree of liberty (2 Pet. 2:4).

Millennial Confinement

During the Great Tribulation, there “are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.” (Rev. 16:14). As demons are in part responsible for the battle of Armageddon, it is reasonable to expect they would be prevented from making war during the millennial reign of Christ.
While their millennial destiny is not specifically identified in the Bible, most commentators would agree that they would be confined with Satan their leader in the bottomless pit (Rev. 20:3). They certainly are not active during Christ’s reign on the earth.

Eternal Confinement

One of the key thoughts to keep in mind when attempting to understand hell is to remember it was never the will of God that anyone should go there (1 Pet. 3:9). When confronted with that truth, the obvious question is, “Why did God create hell in the first place?” The answer to that question is found in Matthew 25:41. Hell was “prepared for the devil and his angels.”
A man will only go to hell by choice, his choice as expressed by his rejection of Christ. Demons are apparently aware that someday they will be eternally confined to the lake of fire (Matt. 8:29).

Christians Become Judges

The Bible also teaches that angels are not exempt from judgment. Paul asked the Corinthians, “Do you not know that we are to judge angels?” (1 Cor. 6:3). Toward the end of the age, it will be our responsibility as Christians to represent God in the role of judge.
It may be that during the Tribulation, the millennial kingdom, or eternity to follow, we will serve as judges similar to the judges who ruled before Israel’s first king. As judges, we will be given a position of authority over angels. The following two tabs change content below.
Jesus, during His earthly ministry, encountered many demons. Of course, none of them were a match for the power of Christ: “Many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word” (Matthew 8:16). Jesus’ authority over the demons was one of the proofs that He was indeed the Son of God (Luke 11:20). The demons who encountered Jesus knew who He was, and they feared Him: “‘What do you want with us, Son of God?’ [the demons] shouted. ‘Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?’” (Matthew 8:29). The demons know their end will be one of torment.
Satan and his demons now look to destroy the work of God and deceive anyone they can (1 Peter 5:82 Corinthians 11:14–15). The demons are described as evil spirits (Matthew 10:1), unclean spirits (Mark 1:27), lying spirits (1 Kings 22:23), and angels of Satan (Revelation 12:9). Satan and his demons deceive the world (2 Corinthians 4:4), promulgate false doctrine (1 Timothy 4:1), attack Christians (2 Corinthians 12:71 Peter 5:8), and combat the holy angels (Revelation 12:4–9).
The demons/fallen angels are enemies of God, but they are defeated enemies. Christ has “disarmed the powers and authorities,” and He has “made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross” (Colossians 2:15). As we submit to God and resist the devil, we have nothing to fear. “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
The devil perverts the word of God. We have already seen that the main object of the devil is to change what God has said. All this began with Eve. God said, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Gen. 17). The devil told Eve, “Ye shall not surely die” (Gen. 3: 4). Again, be reminded that sin is lawlessness and righteousness is God’s word (Ps. 119: 117). The devil is skilled in misapplying scripture (cp. Matt. 4: 6, 7, see Ps. 91: 11, 12). The servants or ministers of the devil appear righteous and true, adding to the devil’s ability to deceive the naïve (2 Cor. 11: 13-15). However, these men can be known “by their fruits” (Matt. 7: 15-20). Hence, the Christian is to “test” those who come to him, determining if they have “the doctrine of Christ” (I Jn. 4: 1, 2 Jn. 9-11).
Beloved, the devil should not ever be underestimated. He is cunning, intelligent, and an opportunist. He is also without pity and compassion. He wants you and he will do whatever he can to have you! However, with God’s help you can prevail. Learn the word of God and apply it to your life. Ascertain what God requires of you in order to acquire and maintain salvation and use God’s word to put the devil to flight. Those who presently serve the devil, alas, will forever be with the devil (Matt. 25: 41, 46, see beginning with verse 31 following).  (Be sure to also read, “The Truth about the Devil” and “The Devil is Limited.”)

Great stuff StevieRay. Especially that hell was only ever made for the devil and the angels that went with him in the rebellion. This is why the doctrines of Augustine are such heresy. Calvin learned from them that it was God’s will from before He made the worlds that He chose a few to go to heaven, and He chose that the many would to go to hell. That we have no free will to choose one way or the other. But, that either way it is forced upon us.
What a lie from the pit of hell. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever will should not perish but have everlasting life.” John3:16.
The God of the Bible is not the god of Augustinianism or Calvinism.

The War Against Christians

The War Against Christians

The cultural narrative has become, “LGBT represents normal, healthy variations in human sexuality, so everyone should support and celebrate all forms of sexual diversity. And if you don’t, we’re going to punish you, shame you, and squelch your voice.”
In Ephesians 6, Paul talks about standing firm in spiritual warfare. The phrase “stand firm” (from histÄ“mi), when used in a military sense, had the idea of holding a critical position while under attack.”1 He mentions our need to stand four times (v.11,13-14). Essentially, he says the wobbly Christian—the one not serious about God and trapped in sin—cannot stand in this war. He will be destroyed. Sadly, many fail to stand in this battle. MacArthur’s comments are helpful in considering this reality:
Countless men and women have faithfully taught Sunday school for years, led many people to Jesus Christ, pastored a church, led Bible studies, ministered to the sick, and done every sort of service in the Lord’s name—only to one day give up, turn their backs on His work, and disappear into the world. The circumstances differ, but the underlying reason is always the same: they took God’s armor off and thereby lost the courage, the power, and the desire to stand firm.2
How can we stand in this treacherous war and not miss our calling, be taken captive, or be destroyed? We’ll consider three ways to stand firm in this spiritual war.
Big Question: How can believers stand firm in spiritual warfare according to Ephesians 6:10-13?

Believers Stand Firm by Being Prepared

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God…(Ephesians 6:10-11)
In order to stand firm, believers must prepare for battle. This is true for any warfare—a soldier cannot be successful without preparation. Governments invest billions of dollars into training their soldiers both mentally and physically, and such commitment should be similar for Christians—no corners should be cut in becoming spiritually prepared. Many lose this battle simply because of failure to prepare.
“Where was your God, you stupid Christians? A lot of good your praying did! Go ahead and stick your head in the sand some more and keep praying to your imaginary deity. You deserve each other!”

On Sunday, someone posted a picture on my Twitter account of three lions holding up signs that looked like those held up by cows on popular Chick-Fil-A ads. Except these signs were not saying, “Eat Mor Chikin.” The signs read, “Eat Mor Cristins,” with a caption adding: “America. Yeah. It’s getting that way.”

Unfortunately, at this point in time, these sentiments should not surprise us at all, as despicable and ugly as they may be. The truth be told, there is an increasing, palpable hostility towards the gospel in some quarters in America, and it can easily be explained.
First, it is a natural fruit of the harsh and condescending “new atheism,” which continues to poison many hearts and minds with its venom. God is not simply to be rejected; He is to mocked and ridiculed, as are His followers.

The hatred is a result of the wars between God fearing Bible believing Christians and the non-believer, atheists homosexual crowd, in which Christians are targeted because of their opposition to LGBT activism and abortion. Bible-believing Christians are commonly compared to Hitler, the Ku Klux Klan and other ungodly groups.
n a recent article about the Sri Lanka attacks in National Review, Doug Bandow writes: “Christianity’s dominant role in American culture has obscured the fact that it is the most persecuted faith globally.”  In fact, Christianity is almost invisible in America’s public culture and is its most persecuted faith as well.  (In terms of violent acts, filed under “hate crimes,” Jews are the most frequent targets, thanks to the anti-Semitic propaganda emanating from Muslim Brotherhood front groups and bigots like Ilhan Omar.  But unlike Jews, Christians are attacked for the specific beliefs of their faith.)
The Christians who created America made religious liberty and freedom of conscience the foundation of all Americans’ other freedoms.  In doing so, Christians gave a great gift, not only to Americans, but to people all over the world whose freedoms Americans have defended.  This America is now under attack.  Freedom of speech for conservatives is now nonexistent on America’s university campuses.  They are in embryo the one-party state the Democratic Party is working overtime to achieve.
Democrats are determined to destroy the Electoral College, which was designed to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority.  They are working to destroy America’s borders; give rapists, murderers, and Boston Marathon bombers the right to vote; give non-citizens who are here illegally the right to vote; give children the right to vote, and oppose IDs at the ballot box so people who disrespect our democracy can vote as many times as they wish.
The war on American democracy has reached a critical point.  To grasp the nature of this war, and to understand its goals, it is essential to recognize its origins in the war against Christians.  Christian beliefs in the sanctity of life, in free will (and hence individual accountability), and in the flawed nature of humanity are the principal bulwark against our descent into the barbarism that progressivism promises us.

WHY DOES THE WORLD HATE CHRISTIANS SO MUCH?
Matthew 5:10-12 (NKJV)
Please turn with me in your Bibles to tonight’s scripture text in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter five, and let’s read verses 10-12.
Matthew 5:10-12 (NKJV)
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
I N T R O D U C T I O N
If you ever listen to a Christian radio station chances are you have heard
Adrian Rogers’ broadcast called “Love Worth Finding Adrian Rogers’ “Love Worth Finding.”
Shortly before his death in 2005, Adrian Rogers gave this stern
wake-up call to Christians:
“I believe we are living in the lengthening shadows of the last day. I believe Jesus Christ is coming soon, and one of the earmarks (ed. of His coming) is persecution of the saints. ming) is persecution of the saints. saints. We
see it on TV, newscasts, and editorial pages. Ridicule any other group and you’ll be in ule any other group and you’ll be in trouble, but the wrath of our culture is reserved for the Christian. The Bible-believing Christian is “the whipping boy.”So I want you to prepare yourself—and prepare your children, just as you prepare them to go to school—to live in a world increasingly hostile to genuine Christians.” Just recently we saw evidence of this hostility towards Christians when Phil Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” was viciously attacked in the news media for saying homosexuality is a sin. Robertson was merely stating the truth of the scriptures, yet his words were portrayed by the media and the hollywood elite as “hate speech” and bigotry.
Perhaps like you, my initial response towards A & E’s firing of Phil Robertson and the vicious media attacks towards him was one of anger. But as I have had time to reflect on it, I now realize the way the godless media responded towards Phil Robertson is exactly how Jesus said godless men respond to the true Christian.
In our text, Jesus says, “ Blessed are those who are persecuted for
righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you
when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
Jesus went on to say, “This is how they treated the prophets who were before you.” They persecuted Isaiah and Jeremiah and Elijah and John the Baptist for boldly speaking the truth of God. And a few weeks ago they persecuted Phil Robertson for doing the same. Come to think of it, ‘ol Phil sort of looks like a Jeremiah or John the Baptist doesn’t he?
Why does the world hate Christians so much? And what should our
response be towards the world’s hatred of us? That is what we want to consider in tonight’s message.
First of all, let’s see what insight we can gain from the scriptures as to………
I. Why The World Hates Christians So Much? I. Why The World Hates Christians So Much?
  1. In our text, Jesus provides us with two reasons why the world hates
    us.
    (A) The world hates Christians because of THE LI (A) The world hates Christians because of THE LIFE WE LIVE….
    v. 10 a “Blessed are those who are persecuted for RIGHTEOUSNESS or RIGHTEOUSNESS S SAKE.”
That word “righteousness” “righteousness” “righteousness” has an interesting meaning. In the original Greek, the word “righteousness” means “to divide.” In a very real sense that is exactly what Christians do, we divide.
-We divide TRUTH from FALSEHOOD FALSEHOOD.
-We divide GODLINESS GODLINESS from UNGODLINESS UNGODLINESS.
-We divide the HOLY – from the UNHOLY. Just a few verses down here in Matthew 5, Matthew 5, Matthew 5, Jesus describes
you and me as “the salt of the earth” in verse 13 and as
“the light of the world” in verse 14.
One characteristic of both SALT and LIGHT is that they are
    irritants.
-Have you ever got SALT in a cut on your finger? Did it feel good?
NO! It hurt like the dickens! It “irritated” you.
-Have you ever been sound asleep and someone came in and
turned on THE LIGHT? Were you happy with that person?
NO! You were “irritated” with them. As Christians, our presence in the world has the same effect as SALT in a wound. We are an irritant. We are a painful reminder of the wounds sin has inflicted upon the lost.
And as Christians, our presence in the world has the same
effect as having someone turn the LIGHTS on when we are
    comfortably asleep in the darkness.
  2. We are irritating to those who are comfortable in the darkness of sin. As light, we expose the deeds of darkness, and for that the world
hates us! Our society would have us to believe the greatest of all
virtues is TOLERANCE. They would have us to believe that America would be a utopian society if everyone coexisted together and tolerated one another regardless of one’s choice of lifestyle, or one’s sexual preferences, or one’s religious beliefs. Jesus said in Matthew 10:34, “I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” In other words, I didn’t come here to unite saint and sinner, I came to divide. And because you and I refuse to compromise our biblical convictions and get on “the tolerance bandwagon” we are hated by the world.
But not only does the world hate Christians because of THE LIFE WE LIVE…….
(B) The world hates Christians because of THE LORD WE LOVE WE LOVE.
Look once again at verse 10of our text……..
v.10a “Blessed are you when they revile you and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for MY sely for MYSAKE.
The world hates Jesus Christ! Not so much the baby Jesus or
the Jesus who healed the sick and fed the multitudes. The world
hates the JESUS who came to destroy the works of the devil.
(I John 3:8) The world hates the JESUS who came to destroy
abortion, and pornography, and homosexuality and lesbianism,
and materialism and greed. The world hates the JESUS who
stands against everything the world stands for! And when you and I stand with Christ Jesus told us what would happen. Turn with me to John 15:18-21.
John 15:18-21 (NKJV)
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his
master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. The world hated Jesus because Jesus was NOT of this world. And if you and I are truly living for Jesus Christ, we are NOT of this world either. Jesus said, “If you were of this world then the world would love you because you would be one of its own.” In other words, if you I would just tolerate and accept all religious beliefs, and all
lifestyles, regardless of how immoral, the world would gladly accept
Christians and just leave us alone.
But you see, because we wear the name of CHRIST and identify
with CHRIST, and follow the teachings of CHRIST, the world hates
us just as it hated JESUS.
The apostle Paul writes in Philippians 1:29 (NKJV)………
For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in
Him, but also to suffer for His sake…” When you and I choose to live with a burning, passionate love for Christ, and we refuse to compromise or back down, the world is going to come down on us like a hammer. Why Does The World Hate Christians So Much? They hate Us Because of THE LIFE WE LIVE and They hate us because of THE LORD WE LOVE!
The second thing we want to consider is…
II. What Should Be Our Response To The World’s Hatred II. What Should Be Our Response To The World’s Hatred?
(A) Our first response should be TO EXPECT TO EXPECT THE WORLD’S HATRED.
The apostle Paul writes in II Timothy 3:12 (NKJV) “All who desire
to live godly in Christ Jesus WILL suffer persecution.”
For the most part, we Christians in America have tasted very little,
if any persecution at all. We should not be at all surprised by
the escalating hatred towards Christians in this country. In fact
I believe every true Christian has been expecting it for some time
now.
If they hated the Old Testament prophets, and they hated Jesus Christ, and they hated John the Baptist, and they hated the apostles, and they hated the countless number of Christian martyrs down through the ages, and they hate Christians in other parts of the world, then shouldn’t we expect to be hated also?
(B) Our second response should be TO REJOICE TO REJOICE WHEN THE WORLD HATES US.
I Peter 4:13,14a (NKJV) But rejoice to the extent that you partake But rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached f be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of or the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
Can you think of any greater honor in this life than for the presence
of Christ to be so evident in your that someone would hate you for it? What greater honor could there be than to be criticized or made fun
of for being a Christian? What greater honor could there be than to be passed over for a promotion or to be fired from your job because of your Christian convictions? What greater honor could there be for others to discriminate against you because you are a Christian?
In our “politically correct” society everyone has become ultra- sensitive to anything that might be construed as offensive or bias, or prejudiced in any way. Lawyers are getting “filthy rich” off of people who are easily offended and want to sue their neighbor or their employer or whomever. Brothers and sisters, let us not be ultra-sensitive to the attacks that are made against us because we are Christians. Let us rejoice that we are hated for the sake of Christ! (C) And our third response should be TO FOLLOW CHRIST’S EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW CHRIST’S EXAMPLE WHEN HATED.
I PETER 2:18-21 (NKJV) Servants, be submissive to your masters with all
fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. For this is
commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief,
suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your
faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take
it patiently, this is commendable before God. For to this you were called,
because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you
should follow His steps: How did Christ respond to hatred and criticism and false accusations? How did Christ respond to persecution and
unfairness and injustice? He loved even His worst enemies! CHRIST modeled for us the kind of response we should have towards those who hate us.
C O N C L U S I O N
The story is told about a concert violinist. At the end of his concert, everyone rose to their feet and gave him a thunderous applause, everyone that is, except for one man. The violinist hung his head and began to cry. Those on stage with him tried to console him. They said, “Look, everyone is standing and applauding.” He said, “Not everyone is standing; see that gentleman seated on the front row?” They said, “He’s only one man!” The violinist said, “I know, but he is my teacher.” Brothers and sisters, in the end it won’t matter if you please the whole world, if you don’t please JESUS. But if you please JESUS, then it doesn’t matter whom you displease. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven!”

Coach Resigns after Atheists Complain about Players’ Bible T-Shirts

COACH RESIGNS AFTER ATHEISTS COMPLAIN ABOUT PLAYERS’ BIBLE T-SHIRTS

The coach of a successful high school boys’ basketball team has resigned after an atheist organization complained about the players wearing Bible verse-themed t-shirts.
The Animas High School Panthers in New Mexico advanced to the Class 1A state tournament this year, but not before sparking a controversy with the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), an organization of atheists and agnostics.
The Panthers’ players wore t-shirts in a Feb. 27 game warmups emblazoned with the phrase, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” A community member reported the t-shirts to the Wisconsin-based FFRF, which wrote a letter to the school superintendent, calling the t-shirts a violation of the First Amendment.
The superintendent, Loren R. Cushman, wrote back on April 22, saying the matter had been resolved.
“The coach has submitted his resignation from the district,” Cushman wrote.
Animas is a small community of about 230 people, roughly an hour from the Mexico border.
Cushman did not identify the coach.
“I attended the game in question,” Cushman wrote. “When I observed the players wearing the t-shirts during pregame warmup, I immediately questioned the coach and athletic director.”
A local religious group, Cushman said, provided the shirts, and the coach handed them to the players a day or two prior to the game.
“I gave specific instructions at that time [at the game] that this not permissible and was not to happen again,” Cushman wrote.
Cushman said he was concerned the shirts “could give the message of endorsement by the district.”
FFRF also complained about the coach holding a Bible study with players. Cushman said the Bible study was part of a local youth religious group, and that the coach attended and sometimes led the Bible study.
“It is in no way sponsored or endorsed by the school district,” Cushman wrote.
Fox News’ Todd Starnes sided with the coach.
“It’s a mighty sad day in America when a high school basketball coach is deemed unfit because he is a follower of Jesus,” Starnes wrote
Shawn Akers, dean of Liberty University’s Helms School of Government from 2010 to 2018, says the Constitution’s First Amendment has been misconstrued to mean something the Founders never intended. “All of the Founders,” he said. “looked to … Judeo-Christian morality.’
