Trump’s Pentagon Orders Reinforcements To Protect U.S. Embassy

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, may think President Donald Trump has neither the power nor willingness to protect the U.S. Embassy in Iraq from violent Iranian protesters — but recent orders from the Pentagon prove them very wrong.
According to reports, Trump’s Pentagon just ordered at least 100 Marines and two Apache helicopters to aid in quelling the tension around the embassy.

According to the Marine Corps Times, “all U.S. personnel are secureand there are no plans to evacuate the embassy.”
Trump’s secretary of Defense, Mike Esper, said in a press release that the moves are meant to keep Americans safe and the region protected:
The Department of Defense is working closely with the Department of State to ensure the security of our Embassy and personnel in Baghdad. We have taken appropriate force protection actions to ensure the safety of American citizens, military personnel and diplomats in country, and to ensure our right of self-defense… The United States continues to support the Iraqi people and a free, sovereign, and prosperous Iraq.
