Catholics advise donating to 'safe charities'

VATICAN CITY (ChurchMilitant.com) - A clergy watchdog group is calling on Catholics to boycott Peter's Pence this weekend.

Complicit Clergy (CC), a group of lay Catholics who monitor corruption in the visible Church, are denouncing the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) for encouraging the faithful to donate this weekend to Peter's Pence in the wake of scandals surrounding Pope Francis.

"The Peter's Pence collection is a gesture of solidarity through which every member of the faithful can participate in the activity of the Pope as Pastor of the universal Church," states the USCCB on its website. The USCCB then includes a quote from the Vatican's website: "The faithful’s offerings to the Holy Father through the Peter's Pence Collection are destined to Church needs, to humanitarian initiatives and social promotion projects, as well as to the support of the Holy See."

But CC's call for a boycott spotlights that "recent reports have revealed only a fraction of donations — less than 10% — actually goes towards charitable relief services."

In fact, the "vast majority of the funds have been used to close Vatican budget gaps and invest in highly speculative ventures, including Hollywood movies and luxury rental property," continues the CC post. "Adding more fuel to the fire, last week we learned one of the most powerful Cardinals in the Vatican was ousted apparently due to his mishandled millions of dollars in charitable contributions from Peter's Pence."

Recent reports have revealed only a fraction of donations — less than 10% — actually goes towards charitable relief services.Tweet

CC suggests two action plans:

  • Print a copy of a prepared letter to place in the collection plate this weekend
  • Join a class action lawsuit if having previously contributed to Peter's Pence.

In addition, based on the red flags, CC "strongly recommend[s] faithful Catholics contribute to a more trustworthy charitable cause — consider one of the safe charities listed at Lepanto Institute."

Lepanto Institute Weighs In

Church Militant spoke with Lepanto Institute (LI) president Michael Hichborn.

"It's outrageous that the USCCB is moving forward with the Peter's Pence collection this weekend," Hichborn said. "When faithful Catholics give to Peter’s Pence, they expect that the money is going toward the needs of the poor and the Church, not to swanky condos and raunchy movies."

"But this is what we've come to expect from national collections from the USCCB," he continued. "They completely ignore the scandalous nature of those agencies for which they are collecting and move on with business as usual."

Hichborn went on to explain some of LI's work spotlighting the USCCB's refusal to address corruption in organizations that his Institute has exposed.

"How many times has the USCCB ignored the promotion of contraception from Catholic Relief Services, or the promotion of homosexuality and Marxism from the Campaign for Human Development?" he asked rhetorically.

When faithful Catholics give to Peter’s Pence, they expect that the money is going toward the needs of the poor and the Church, not to swanky condos and raunchy movies.Tweet

"The simple fact of the matter is that faithful Catholics are fed up," the LI president lamented. "Given what has come out regarding the ongoing scandals at Peter's Pence, it may no longer be a matter of whether Catholics could boycott it, but that they have a moral duty to do so."

Clergy in Agreement

A pastor, who requested anonymity, shared with Church Militant a conversation he had with a pastoral associate.

"I just asked the bishop about how to handle Peter's Pence," mentioned the associate. "I'm waiting for a response."

"I put it out of my mind," joked the pastor. "I may think of it again, when we have a different pope and Holy See."

"Ditto that," rejoined the associate. "The current Holy See is not a 'Holy Scene.'"

Popular blogger Fr. John Zuhlsdorf (Fr. Z) echoed the pastor's observation about donating to Peter's Pence in good conscience.

"Remembering always that money is fungible, nevertheless there have been problems lately with how Peter's Pence has been applied," he recalled after explaining Peter's Pence added philanthropy to its original purpose, namely, raising funds for the Roman Curia's operations.

"Recently, we heard of the dressing-down of Card. Becciu (is he a Cardinal or isn’t he?) for using Peter's Pence by luxury real estate in London and to fund a movie about openly homosexual Elton John," Fr. Z continued. "It is hard to understand either of those moves as 'philanthropic' or as related to the operation of the Roman Curia ... the wholesome operation, that is."

"No, this is very bad indeed," he added. "Speaking personally, I cannot see myself contributing anything to Peter's Pence, no matter how plaintive the plea. I now need some evidence that the right people are handling the money and that it is going to things that can be explained with a straight face."

GLASGOW, Scotland (ChurchMilitant.com) - An outspoken priest is blasting Scottish bishops for cowardice in the face of the COVID-19 crisis after witnessing faithful Catholics "being denied entry" into their church on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel.

Image
Abp. Philip Tartaglia of Glasgow

Father Stephen Dunn published an open letter Tuesday expressing how "deeply saddened and angered" he was to see Catholics turned away, "because there were already 50 people in the church and in obedience to Abp. Philip Tartaglia and the guidelines issued by the archdiocese and the Bishops Conference of Scotland."

"I was subsequently told that a man, his wife and his child, having traveled 15 miles were turned away a couple of weeks ago, again because 50 were already in," wrote Fr. Dunn, who has served 26 years in the Glasgow archdiocese.

"This is disgraceful, shocking!" exclaimed Dunn quoting Jesus' words: "Could you not spend one hour with me?"

"No, you can't, because Philip Tartaglia and the Scottish Bishops Conference says no – only 50 are allowed in; we are going to be obedient to government guidelines and not allow any more than 50 people in," he remarked.

"Obedient to a government which advocates adultery, abortion, sodomy, and transgenderism? Please tell me one of those that is pleasing to God?" he asked, slamming the Scottish government — currently considered to be promoting the most radical anti-Catholic legislation.

"Why are the bishops of Scotland being obedient to such law makers?" Dunn questioned, naming First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon's regime as a "fascist, Communist government."

Dunn made news in 2011 after he began to learn the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) so he could bury his father, who "had stipulated in his will that he is to be buried to the Tridentine Mass and no other Mass." The TLM was met with initial hostility in the archdiocese.

You, bishops of Scotland, you are the ones who cause outrages, sacrileges and indifference, by denying the sheep time in the Real Presence of Jesus.Tweet

Expressing his disappointment with "COVID coward bishops," Fr. Dunn told Church Militant he'd been "very frightened for souls in recent years, something which has come to a climax at this point in time in the world."

"Bishops and priests are gravely failing to preach and practice Christ's message in its entirety in the Gospels," he said. "They choose little morsels of Christ's word which please the world and the flesh, and so 'don't rock the world's boat' like Christ did with the Truth."

"As a result, many are presently following the ways of the world which will lead to damnation. Priests and bishops telling people: 'Oh, it's okay, don't worry, God loves you and will forgive you," he continued.

"But God will forgive you only if you confess your error in full and return like the Prodigal Son. Anything short of this will fail you as Christ tells us in the Gospel: 'branches that do not bear fruit will be gathered and burnt in the fire, a fire that will not go out!'" Dunn stressed.

"Our Lady warned at Fatima, Russia will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church," the priest noted in his letter, quoting the prayer taught by the Angel to the children at Fatima — a prayer begging "pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love" the Lord Jesus.

"You, bishops of Scotland, you denied adoration, you are the ones who presently cause outrages, sacrileges and indifference with which He Himself is offended, by denying the sheep time in the Real Presence of Jesus. And at a time when they need it most," Fr. Dunn excoriated.

Every deplorable and wretched bishop who locked the churches and denied people access to the Holy Mass, the Holy Eucharist and the sacraments will have blood of every lost soul upon their heads.Tweet

"Was Jesus scared to touch the lepers?" he asks.

In mid-September, Scotland launched Phase 3 of its Wuhan virus strategy permitting churches to open "subject to physical distancing and hygiene safeguards."

"Each place of worship should make its own decision about when it is ready to do this and should only reopen if this can be done safely," the guidelines state.

"With our churches now re-opened, we still face significant restrictions on our worship. While undesirable, these are necessary if we are to minimize the risks of gathering in confined spaces," wrote Bp. Brian McGee, chair of the COVID-19 Pastoral Ministry Working Group, in a recent Bishops Conference of Scotland newsletter.

Faithful Catholics in Glasgow told Church Militant they felt as if they were "under a kind of double tyranny: on the one hand arbitrary restrictions on our basic freedoms (justified by the Scottish Government on health grounds but with little evidence justifying this) and, on the other, punitive restrictions on access to our churches."

"Older Catholics are distraught and younger people are even starting to wake up to the disproportionate and illogical nature of the conditions. There's a profound silence and lack of leadership from our bishops and many clergy which is completely bewildering to Catholics who feel 'like sheep without a shepherd,'" they said.

Father Dunn's Scottish admirers are comparing him to American priest Fr. Altman, who, as Church Militant reported, denounced bishops for cowardice in the face of the Wuhan virus scare.

"Every deplorable and wretched bishop who locked the churches and denied people access to the Holy Mass, the Holy Eucharist and the sacraments will have blood of every lost soul upon their heads," Fr. Altman preached, pointing out that the Church has weathered pandemics, famines and wars for 2,000 years.

Arguing that COVID-19 has a recovery rate of 99.79 % and a fatality rate of 1 in 500, Fr. Dunn quotes Jesus' words from Luke 18: "When the Son of Man comes will He find any faith on earth?"

"With such chief shepherds as we have, sorry Lord Jesus, it looks very unlikely," he laments.

Apocalyptic Warning of New World Order if Trump loses

ROME (ChurchMilitant.com) - Vatican whistleblower Archbishop Viganò is issuing an apocalyptic warning: "if Trump loses, the final 'kathèkon' [restraint] will fail and a New World Order will be unleashed."

Image
Will Catholics heed Viganò's apocalyptic words?

This dystopian dictatorship will have an ally in Joe Biden as the new American president after already having won over Pope Francis, the former papal envoy to the U.S. is warning.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò quotes St. Paul's epistle to the Thessalonians, where in an eschatological context, the apostle speaks of the "Man of Lawlessness" and "what is restraining him" (2 Thes 2:7-8) before the coming of the anti-Christ.

The prelate, who lives in hiding for fear of his life, paints a grim picture for Catholics of the scenario that lies ahead in an interview published Thursday in Italian journal Inside Over.

"We would be faced with an Orwellian dictatorship of the 'deep state' and the 'deep church' in which the rights we today consider fundamental and inalienable would be trampled. The mainstream media will be complicit," Viganò predicts.

"A small remnant made up of fervent Catholics will remain, just as the Mother of God, St. John and [Mary] Magdalene remained at the foot of the Cross," says the archbishop.

In this war, he asserts, Satan is released from his chains and the gates of hell will try in every way to prevail over the Church itself.

The Mystical Body of Christ, placed as the only ark of salvation for humanity, is called to oppose the mystical body of the Antichrist.Tweet

Viganò affirms it was Pope Benedict XVI who believed he was placing the prelate in this "providential position" when "almost prophetically" he appointed him papal nuncio to the U.S. on August 14, 2011.

This role, according to the Pope Emeritus, would prove to be "decisive for the future of the Universal Church," Viganò reveals.

"Now free from my official post, the inspiration confided to me by Pope Benedict allows me to address President Trump with the utmost freedom, highlighting his role in the national and international context, and how decisive his mission is in the epochal confrontation that is going on in recent months," he acknowledges.

Exposing Joe Biden "as a puppet manipulated by the elite, a puppet in the hands of people thirsty for power and willing to do anything to expand it," Viganò dismisses the presidential candidate as "hiding behind a character totally inadequate for the office of President of the United States, even for his degraded conditions of mental health."

But, he laments, Biden and "the universal religion advocated by the United Nations and by Freemasonry finds active collaborators in the leaders of the Catholic Church who usurp its authority and adulterate its Magisterium."

Some even prefer to support the New World Order by aligning themselves with the positions of Pope Francis and Cdl. Parolin.Tweet

"Ecumenism, Malthusian environmentalism, pansexualism, immigrationism are the new dogmas of this universal religion, whose ministers prepare the advent of the Antichrist before the last persecution and definitive victory of Our Lord," the prelate declares.

Even the Holy See appears to be attacked by enemy forces and the silence of the shepherds is deafening and upsetting, Viganò laments, adding:

Image
Icon of Our Lady crushing the head of the serpent

"Some even prefer to support the New World Order by aligning themselves with the positions of Pope Francis and Cdl. Parolin who, a frequenter of the Bilderberg Club, slavishly submitted to its diktats, like many politicians and the mainstream media."

Viganò labels this the "deep church"— "a foreign body, subversive and devoid of any legitimacy that uses the institution in which it is embedded to achieve goals diametrically opposed to those of the institution itself."

But "the Mystical Body of Christ, placed as the only ark of salvation for humanity, is called to oppose the mystical body of the Antichrist," he observes, quoting Abp. Fulton Sheen.

The former papal ambassador explores the theme of a divided U.S. and a divided Church by distinguishing between the "division" sown by the devil and the "separation" brought about by Christ:

God does not divide but separates. He creates a boundary between the City of God and the City of Satan, between those who serve Him and those who fight Him. He himself will separate the righteous from the wicked on the day of Judgment (Mt 25, 31-46), after having placed himself "as a stumbling block" (Rm 9, 32-33).

"Isn't the Good Shepherd being "divisive" when he warns his sheep against the wolves?" asks Viganò.

He elaborates:

Separating light from darkness, good from evil, according to the Lord's teaching, is a must, if we want to follow Christ and reject Satan. But it is also necessary to separate when choosing who best protects the rights and faith of Catholics from those who only nominally proclaim themselves Catholic and in fact promote laws that are clearly in contrast with divine law and natural law.

Lambasting Pope Francis for "accusing Trump of not being a Christian simply because he wants to protect the nation's borders" while "the trafficking of human beings is favored" and the Vatican is "silent in the face of the persecution of Christians in China and elsewhere, or the thousands of desecrations of churches that have been taking place all over the world for months: isn't all this divisive?" Viganò asks.

The archbishop names Jesuit Fr. James Martin as the one "truly divisive in the worst sense of the term" for his "homo-heresy," and calls faithful Catholics to "learn to separate who is with Christ from who is against him, since it is not possible to serve two masters."

Unlike Biden, Trump "defended the life of the unborn child, cutting funds from Planned Parenthood and, more recently, issued an executive order requiring immediate care for newborns not killed by abortion. Trump is fighting pedophilia and pedo-Satanism."

"Trump did not open new war fronts and drastically reduced the existing ones by signing peace agreements," the archbishop argues.

Viganò concludes with a note of hope emphasizing that "the destinies of the world are not in the hands of man, and that the Lord has promised not to abandon His Church."

"The powers of hell will not prevail" (Mt 16:18). Christ's words are the rock of our hope: "Behold, I am with you always, to the close of the age" (Mt 28:20), he proclaims.

Brett Kavanaugh: "My family and my name have been totally and permanently destroyed."

When Brett Kavanaugh was undergoing what some have called a public crucifixion in 2018, accused by Christine Blasey Ford and others of taking part in gang rape, one man joined in the pile-on.

Joe Biden: "What I said during the Kavanaugh hearings was she had a right to be heard."

The allegations ultimately fell apart after accusers admitted they lied or the evidence otherwise didn't add up, and Kavanaugh was confirmed to the High Court. But not before Biden weighed in on Blasey Fords side.

Joe Biden: I think they should do an FBI investigation. We did that with Anita Hill. It took two days."

Anita Hill was, of course, the accuser of Clarence Thomas.

Anita Hill: "He talked about pornographic materials."

Hill came forward in 1991 alleging sexual harassment when Thomas was nominated by President George Bush to the Supreme Court. Joe Biden was Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee during those hearings.

Clarence Thomas: "As a black American, as far as I'm concerned, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves, to do for themselves, to have different ideas."

He was eventually confirmed, but not without having his reputation torn to shreds — Biden leading the charge.

Joe Biden to Anita Hill: "Why did you think he was saying these things to you?"

To this day Biden continues to peddle the narrative that Thomas was a sexual predator.

Joe Biden: "Her reputation was attacked. I believed Anita Hill. I voted to oppose Clarence Thomas."

It wasn't the only confirmation circus Biden oversaw. In 1987, America watched the spectacle of Judge Robert Bork subjected to partisan attacks by Democrats.

Sen. Ted Kennedy: "In Robert Bork's America, there is no room at the inn for blacks, there would be no place in the Constitution for women ... ."

A brilliant and respected jurist, Bork had been nominated by Ronald Reagan to replace the retired Justice Lewis Powell, the swing vote on issues like abortion, affirmative action and criminal justice.

But Bork couldn't survive the Dems' dirty tactics, again led by Biden, who painted Bork as a right-wing radical who wanted the government breaking into bedrooms.

Biden to Bork: "Have you come up with any other way to protect a married couple under the Constitution against an action by a government telling them what they can or cannot do about birth control in their bedroom? Is there any constitutional right anywhere in the Constitution?

Bork was defeated 58 to 42.

To this day, Biden credits himself with the defeat.

Joe Biden 2020: "I almost singlehandedly made sure that Robert Bork could not get on the Court ... ."

As another confirmation battle looms, this time with Catholic Judge Amy Coney Barrett, Biden — as Democratic contender for president — will once again be front and center.

Biden has thus far refused to condemn the ugly attacks on Barrett by the Left, and if his track record is any guide, he'll take part. The only question is what tricks Biden and his party have up their sleeve to sabotage Trump's nominee.

Church Militant (a 501(c)4 corporation) is responsible for the content of this commentary.

Once Campaign 2020 heated up, people started choosing-up sides even more than they had before. Almost everyone in the country — and in many other countries as well — understands the importance of this election.

Of course, in the middle of the cultural earthquake going on, the U.S. bishops are asleep at the wheel, refusing to jump in on the side of justice and truth. It's actually revolting — a disgusting display of cowardice and non-commitment, a cowardice and non-commitment however they do not display when it comes to shaking down the flock as well as taxpayers for billions of dollars.

What a disgusting lot, truly. Still, their cowardice has not prevented a handful of good, faithful priests around the country from stepping forward and calling a spade a spade. Earlier this week, Church Militant had the honor to host the "controversial" Fr. James Altman — controversial only because he speaks the truth. And, in these days, speaking the truth is controversial. That's how far the diabolical has advanced.

They have not lifted a finger to help end the slaughter of 60 million children.Tweet

As you might imagine, the crowd of quisling bishops squirm under the light of truth and do what they can to bring to silence such men. It's ridiculous the depths the Church's hierarchy has sunk to in the past 60 years. They make the English bishops under Henry VIII look like saints. They have sat back for decades and allowed, even advanced, evil upon evil and watched the Church fall to pieces on their watch.

If there is one thing this proud-yet-utterly-faithless group of men absolutely detest (because they do not detest evil) it is when they believe they are being attacked. First, let's be clear, if there was a single group of men, collectively, as a body, who deserve to be not only attacked, but defrocked and imprisoned, it is this bunch.

Consider, they have done nothing; they have not lifted a finger to help end the slaughter of 60 million children. Not a blessed thing. Nothing. They don't publicly challenge the evil. They don't toss out from the Church those fraudulent Catholics who support it. They take up not one red cent in collections to help with the work. Nothing.

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, those tens of millions of children she helped execute would have stood before her, testifying to her guilt before the throne of God. But Ginsburg was not Catholic. She did not receive Holy Communion. She was not ordained, consecrated, granted the grace of office, a successor to the Apostles.

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, those tens of millions of children she helped execute would have stood before her, testifying to her guilt before the throne of God.Tweet

Not for nothing did the saints of old declare that the floor of Hell would be paved with the skulls of this miserable lot. Please watch the full interview with Fr. Altman available exclusively here on Church Militant.
