Several House Republicans are making moves to strip far-left Democrat Ilhan Omar of her committee assignments. The move comes after Democrats announced they will try and have Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene removed from her committee assignments as well.
The Daily Wire reports:
“The House is set to consider a measure this week that calls for Taylor Greene, a controversial first-term lawmaker known for his support of the QAnon conspiracy theory, from her assignment on the Education and Labor Committee,” Fox News reported. “A proposed GOP-backed amendment to that measure calls for Omar, frequently identified as a member of the ‘Squad’ of progressive Democrats, to be removed from her committee assignments.”
Omar has an extensive history in trafficking in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and tropes, including her claim that “Israel has hypnotized the world.”
Then-New York Times Columnist Bari Weiss noted that Omar’s anti-Semitic remark was similar to what was promoted in Nazi Germany.
Omar has spoken out against sanctions being used against nations like socialist Venezuela and the Islamic Republic of Iran, but reportedly has different views when it comes to sanctioning Israel.
Since being elected to Congress scandal has followed Rep. Omar at every turn. Other Democrats have distanced themselves from the “Squad” member, some even hinting that her policy ideas cost Democrats seats across the country.

In a desperate attempt to skirt the blame of her own mishandlings, Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot attempted to blame former President Trump for Chicago’s public school issues. Chicago teachers were supposed to return to in-person learning on Monday but the Chicago Teachers Union refused, saying they would not return until every teacher can be vaccinated. The union is also demanding that teachers who live with “vulnerable” persons be allowed to teach from home indefinitely. However, instead of taking responsibility for her own shortcomings as mayor, Lightfoot attempted to pin the blame on Trump’s vaccine rollout strategy.
According to The Daily Wire:
“Lightfoot didn’t invoke the name of the nation’s 45th president but she suggested the ongoing impasse between Chicago Public Schools and CTU, over whether it is safe to return to in-person instruction as early as Thursday, stems from the failed vaccine rollout under former President Donald Trump,” the Chicago Tribune reported.
“This is a very difficult situation and we’re in it, still, because of the incompetence of the previous administration,” Lightfoot said. “So I think it’s important for both sides to come to the table in good faith, recognize that we’re both trying to work through a very challenging situation but we must get a deal done.”
Illinois’ state government, which was responsible for dolling out vaccines once they were distributed to states, struggled with the vaccine rollout. Per WGN, Cook County, home to Chicago, launched its vaccine appointment website just last week, nearly a month after shots became available, and has struggled to organize vaccine sites.
“Compared to other states, Illinois has among the lowest percent of its population which is vaccinated so far, although it ranks among the top in the total number of doses administered to date,” the outlet reported.
Chicago private school re-opened in September. Lightfoot also commented that massive funds were poured into Chicago public schools and they are safe and ready for students to return. President Trump constantly pushed for students to safely return to schools, especially once evidence showed how low transmission rates were.
Nobody can question Florida’s Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz’s loyalty to Trump. The staunch supporter said during an interview with podcast War Room: Pandemic that he would resign from Congress to help defend President Trump in his upcoming impeachment trial.
According to War Room: Pandemic:
Gaetz said it’s important to show how President Trump’s concerns about the presidential election were valid, and urged Republicans to go on offense since 45 Republicans are already on the record that the impeachment is unconstitutional. Stephen K. Bannon said it’s a “free play” to show the receipts on election fraud.
Gaetz said he and other populist Republicans inquired if they could represent President Trump in the senate trial but were turned down by the House Ethics Committee. When asked if he would resign his seat to argue the case, Gaetz did not hesitate.
“I would leave my House seat, I would leave my home,” Gaetz said if needed to defend the greatest president in modern history.
“I view this cancellation of the Trump presidency and the Trump movement as one of the biggest threats” to the constituents of Florida’s first district, Gaetz added. “I’m here to win, to win so much I get tired of it because that’s what I was promised.”
